Pavements here in Sheffield are sheet ice today, we still have a few inches of snow on our road. Very easy to imagine Blades fans staying at home rather than breaking a leg trying to watch their reserves in a cup the club want to get knocked out of.

I do feel though that the clubs who try to be clever with these cup selections tend to have it backfire on them. I still can’t shake those Olympiacos and Fulham lineups and results out of my head.

Bugger.
Rovers 1 up, after missing an open goal earlier.

Couldn't agree more. I hated the way Dyche treat our cup games.

To be fair I don't really care about cup games when we've something to fight for in the league

It will be interesting to see how many of the clubs currently in the Championship top 6 are still in the FA Cup draw come Monday. By my calculations two have been knocked out thus far. Leeds apart, elimination for any of the others would come as no surprise when ambitious lie elsewhere. This is one of the reasons both Cup competitions are totally dominated by PL clubs that can field 2 (if not 3) sides that can progress to the latter stages.

I used to love the FA cup....but things have changed and promotion is the priority, plus giving the players who played most over Xmas a break

Part of the fascination for me was to see smaller clubs battling to get a replay and take the bigger club back to their ground for a replay. But even that has been removed making it even more in favour of PL teams who can bring on their better players if extra time is needed.
A football league club hasn’t won the League Cup (Carabao Cup) since the formation of the PL.

Has anyone any idea why this round of the Cup is still continuing tonight?
It seemed logical to assume that the accountants that run the FA had sold theTV rights to some obscure channel, but no, none of the games are on TV.
It’s just plain barmy, there seems to be an obsession with playing games at any time and day other than 3pm Saturday.
Charlton away at Preston on a Tuesday night is basically saying the fans are irrelevant.

That makes sense now, I thought it was a bit barmy to have three untelevised games on a Tuesday night. Thanks.
