They're both playing really well - both put through some very clever balls leading to half chances. Sometimes they just need a chance...CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:09 pmNot a fan of the young midfield as it is akin to sacking off the competition

12 mins in and we are bossing this. Anybody spotted who has the armband? I haven’t seen any close-ups of it.

Excellent start so far
Re: Reading vs Burnley Match Thread
Give them a chance. We've been well on top and McDermott and Bauress have looked decent so far.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:04 pmThe team looks horrific ( as in this XI never played together or anything like it ) 2 kids in midfield is almost bizzare . Reading at home and in good form too . Though our back line is loaded with experience and our ancient front line knows where the net is .

Best I've seen hs play all season. The 2 in midfield have been fantastic as have Sonne, Jay Rod and Foster.

Excellent start so far. Don't know why some folk are moaning.

Re: Reading vs Burnley Match Thread
Two young lads are doing absolutely fine in the middle so far. Nothing to fear
Re: Reading vs Burnley Match Thread
Sick to death of the mentality of some of the board members on here.
Kids have earned an opportunity and some overweight old bloke moans about them before they’ve kicked a ball!!
They’re more talented than any one of you armchair critics!
I hope they both do brilliantly in spite of the planks on here.

Re: Reading vs Burnley Match Thread
Not why we have moaning about moaners about not playing development squad players in cups - it is a fair opinion and one aimed at most big clubs not just us. It’s just a shame the FA Cup isn’t valued like it was.
Not the young lads fault. Obviously a big day for them and their families and we all wish them well.

Who has criticised any of the young lads before they have kicked a ball, a rant there about nothing.Cooclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:22 pmSick to death of the mentality of some of the board members on here.

The first 20 minutes has shown both McDermott and bauress need to go to league 1 or league 2 and play week in week out

Certainly the better side, just need a goal now. Really enjoying watching McDermott and Bauress, with TM looking slightly the better of the two so far.

Thought it might have been better playing 3 in midfield to put someone with experience along side them.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:31 pmThe two young lads are playing really well, definitely got something about them.

Only had a stream up for the last 6 mins, and we look very sloppy on the ball. Giving it away with poor passes.

Re: Reading vs Burnley Match Thread
Pires chases a flick on by Reading, easy favourite for ir, stops. allows the Reading player to get infront of him, then fouls him. WTF

I agree I was just thinking as well as the two boys are playing they could just do with that experience to help control the middle moreStonehouse wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:33 pmThought it might have been better playing 3 in midfield to put someone with experience along side them.
Re: Reading vs Burnley Match Thread
Lucky not to go 0-1 there with the lads poor header, Hladky nowhere near it.

Re: Reading vs Burnley Match Thread
Joe Bauress has settled back in this season having missed the whole of 2023/24 with a cruciate. Really pleased he's got this opportunity.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:31 pmThe two young lads are playing really well, definitely got something about them.

Re: Reading vs Burnley Match Thread
Some of these players haven’t had any competitive minutes of senior football for months. Add in the fact that it’s a scratch team containing two kids in the centre of the park and I’d say this performance isn’t bad at all so far.

I wouldn’t say that’s the reason, both McDermott and bauress need to go out on loanNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:38 pmBoth the young lads look excellent
