Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Given that after the season he had for us there wasn’t a sniff of premier league interest, he ended up going for 23m euros. In the summer he will turn 26, I would say personally 20m would be a fair fee for him.
Obviously if he has a blinding last half of the season and is a starter week in week out and is scoring goals then his value goes up

To be fair, most men continue to have a soft spot for the subject of their first w*** fantasy; it's been Sophia Loren with me.

When news first broke ahead of Reading I assumed we wanted him signed to get some minutes in his legs for that game, but maybe we’re just letting him train with us while we assess him?
Certainly can’t see us wanting to pay wages unless he’s ready to go in to the squad.
May also be more of an option we are looking at if other CM targets don’t come off?

Taken from X
Hjalmar Ekdal, 26, is about to be loaned out from Burnley in January. QPR, Stoke, Middlesbrough and Glasgow Rangers are in talks over a deal. Groningen, Empoli, Sampdoria and Brescia have also contacted about a loan.
Would be a massive shame, thought he was excellent when he came on today

Really like Ekdal, i'd have him over Worrall as backup. Think that would be a mistake

Ekdal is too good to be a 5th choice centre back at Burnley. Better we get him games and build his value back up.

Ekdal should be 3rd choice now he is fully fit.

Probably the best guy who can carry the ball out of defence would be a shame to lose him.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:46 pmTaken from X

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Rangers would be a good fit for him, or as mentioned strengthening a lower teams defence against promotion rivals. Anyone who thinks Alan Pace and Scott Parker don't know this is naive.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Why on earth would we keep temporary emergency signing John Egan and get rid of Swedish international Ekdal. That's a crazy decision.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
A permanent deal would be crazy but I can understand a loan move, Egan isn’t going to stay past this season surely so Ekdal can come back in the summer
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Is it though. I'll give you this example: one of them will stay and probably get very few minutes with us. The other will hopefully go somewhere and play.
I'd rather have Egan as the back up with Ekdal trying to retain some value by getting regular minutes with a view to come back next season if deemed good enough.

Fair play Mattster...I sort of disagreed with your post the other day but based on Bauress and McDermott today you certainly had a very valid point !Mattster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 12:18 pmBecause we have four senior central midfielders already. Rather use one of the U21s as depth there than waste a wage on snail paced Shelvey to probably play about about 180 minutes all season and block progression routes for younger players. Bauress, Veevers, McDermott or Hugill are all perfectly capable of being emergency backup and picking up 5 minutes here or there.
Better still look to bring in a long term replacement for Bronwhill who we can phase in over the next month before he walks away on a free.

Both lads had excellent games but playing a fa cup game against a reading team who were extremely poor on the day is a completely different pressure to playing in the championship for a team chasing promotionrandomclaret2 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 9:38 pmFair play Mattster...I sort of disagreed with your post the other day but based on Bauress and McDermott today you certainly had a very valid point !
