How can you possibly know that when he hasn't started a game for us at Championship level?

When he came on he reminded me of how intelligent a central defender he is-really composed. A loan is better than selling him, particularly if Egan Riley leaves in SummerStonehouse wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 7:48 pmProbably the best guy who can carry the ball out of defence would be a shame to lose him.

Parker had the following to say re Shelvey yesterday:
“It's a possibility. We'll see.
"Maybe a little bit of training time and see what happens, but it’s certainly an area which we need to look at. But it's still very early stages."
That’s from the Burnley Express.

Ekdal being linked with a loan move. Clubs in the Championship and Europe interested.

Perfect, proves his fitness and ability and gets a contract, Parker said he looks match fit to. If he proves it then there’s one hell if a player for champ leave and it allows the young lads to go out on loanagreenwood wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 9:09 amParker had the following to say re Shelvey yesterday:

Think a loan move makes sense with Ekdal. He's too good to just get shut of, and with Egan only on a short term deal and CJ future up in the air come summer things could look a lot different.

Egan and Worrall did well yesterday. I would certainly offer Egan a longer deal .

Ekdal needs to go out and prove his fitness. If he can play regularly and be good to go then happy days . Personally I’d find him a club in this division who are of no threat to us promotion wise. He’s undoubtedly a good player but injuries have ravished him.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I really rate Ekdal - he’s an excellent defender who can play out from the back and in an ideal world i would love to keep him. But he spends more time injured than fit and we are well stocked in that position currently so maybe it’s time to let him go.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 10:20 amEkdal needs to go out and prove his fitness. I agree a loan would be best for everyone. It wouldn't surprise me if it was to the continent rather than this country.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Ekdal has become the best player ever to play for us under 20 times, I think.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Ekdal is a very good player but he’s also very injury prone. If we can get a can get a reasonable fee for him then we should let him go.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Ekdal is clearly an extremely good player. Whether he was injury prone in his career before joining us I don't know, but it's really unfortunate that injury has limited his appearances at Burnley. He's now fit and ready for action, but finds himself (arguably) currently 5th choice CB and he's far too good for that. A loan to the end of the season to get him playing regularly is a must, but what I don't understand is why we would even be remotely considering another Championship club. Middlesbrough?? Come off it, we'd be crazy! I'm sure that must be crap journalism. Rangers (or abroad) I get.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
BBC reporting Atlanta United are in talks with Boro for Latte Lath. £16M fee quoted.

Am I misremembering Ekdal durning at the speed of a tank in the Premier League?

TBF he was hung out to dry by kompanys tactics.

Tanks are actually pretty fast.
Our Challenger 2 apparently goes at 37mph, the German Leopard 2 45mph. They can of course turn on a sixpence.

Boro have offloaded Isaiah Jones to Luton for £5 million he came on as a late sub vs Clarets on 29 December
We need them to stay intact as possible as they have to play the Mackems, & DL at the Riverside plus the Blades and fatherless ones away.

I thought Jones was super, 3 or 4 years back. The next season they started Djed Spence at RB and he’s been in and out ever since. Don’t know his injury record but expected a lot more from him.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:57 pmBoro have offloaded Isaiah Jones to Luton for £5 million he came on as a late sub vs Clarets on 29 December

Lovely goal yesterday. Skipped past 2/3 Brentford players and arrowed his shot into the bottom corner.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 8:05 pmReally strange one got to imagine Parker fancies him,

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Sky Sports Pete O’Rourke on X re Whittaker and Burnley.
Feels zero chance of Plymouth keeping him. I suspect the player has been wanting to come now for 6 months. In that we need wingers to cut inside for Parker’s framework, we need a leftie on the right, Benson will of course never be fully fit for extended periods. So I think it is a very good signing IF we can get it done.

You’d suspect we’ve had some encouragement if we’ve gone back in for him. Think he was captain for Plymouth yesterday and a cracking goal.

I think he’s exactly what we need, a talented player, who will be playing with better players no disrespect to Plymouth, I think he could really develop into a premier league playerNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 8:05 pmReally strange one got to imagine Parker fancies him,

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Potentially but I’ve seen him play a few times this season and he’s not in the Tresor category (ie a player that doesn’t want to be there but has the technical ability above his peers).123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 8:20 pmI think he’s exactly what we need, a talented player, who will be playing with better players no disrespect to Plymouth, I think he could really develop into a premier league player
I’m not entirely sure he’s better than what we have but I guess right now it’s clear that Tresor won’t feature and Parker doesn’t Koleosho or Sarmiento to play consistently.
So we just have to trust the recruitment team and hope he can hit the form he did last season

Whittakers goal yesterday certainly showed he had technical ability, he is a tall winger to. He also has that ability to score from out of nowhere which is what we have missed with benson not featuring for 18 months.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 8:24 pmPotentially but I’ve seen him play a few times this season and he’s not in the Tresor category (ie a player that doesn’t want to be there but has the technical ability above his peers).

To me the model seems to of switched to British or playing in England already and I think he is one of the best out there in the division

I think they probably had a bit of a shock at the end of last season when we had a real discombobulated, motley crue of a dressing room.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 8:31 pmWhittakers goal yesterday certainly showed he had technical ability, he is a tall winger to. Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Can’t judge Whittaker’s goals ratio this season with how poor Plymouth are. If you stick him in our team as a wide forward it’s a totally different story. Great age, great season last year, why not?
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Just watched his goal yesterday great movement and a cracking shot with left foot. And im told he that regularly last season. Looks a talented lad.

I think the improvement in sarmientos game off the ball is massive and if you could get him for 6/7m it would be a great signing given that come the summer we are likely going to be without Jay Rod Barnes Redmond and brownhill for starters and then more than likely Tresor. You’d also imagine benson will go abroad in the summer toCoolClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 8:41 pmI think Anthony is an obligation to buy...
