Nice little finish. Watched him against Dundee United the other day and he showed a few decent touches , it was mostly huff and puff from Dundee really but he used his pace well at times. Hope he impresses for the remainder of the season. I thought Dodgson may have joined up with him this month but not to be

Another Dundee goal kick as Oluwaseun Adewumi shields the ball out of play.
He's been excellent tonight.

Re: Adewumi
To coin an old phrase ` if your good enough you`re old enough` maybe if his loan can`t be cut short he should at least be expected to start training with the first team squad next summer with a view to being on the bench he`s obviously got the ability and then integrated into the first team irrespective of the fact that he will still qualify for the under 21`s, I realize the standard of football in the SP is probably on a par with mid Championship level but at some point we need to take a chance with some of these young lads, other clubs do seem to have some of these young gems at this age and give them a chance, he would be monitored by coaching staff to ensure he wasn`t being over used.

This lad looks very good. Decent turn of pace and drives at defences. I hope to see him in a C&B shirt in the future.

Re: Adewumi
First time I've looked at a whole Scottish match.
Adewumi was steady in the first half and offered a lot more attacking threat in the second. He seemed to play a sort of recent Hannibal role on the left, siting quite far in but going back to help defensively. He mostly strolled around with the odd urgent sprint, hardly putting in a tackle or header, just tried to add to the defending numbers and block passes. He started the goal in the first half with a run down the left touchline which petered out but then poor Rangers defending set up the goal which he took well. He also hit a shot under pressure over. In the second half, especially after Vetro came on, he looked lively going forward, had a well taken goal disallowed for someone else's offside, ballooned a shot over after good work by Vetro, and had another well struck shot which went straight at the goalkeeper - he should have done better there. He was the Dundee player most likely to score. Defensively he was OK but there were a couple of occasions where I think he should have gone back with an unmarked player who nearly scored. It may not have been in his instructions but he should have done it for the team anyway.
All in all an impressive performance and I think he was named MoM although I would have given it to one of Dundee's central defenders.
Vetro also impressed when he came on. He played right mid and looked lively and athletic. Good work set up a chance for Adewumi and he looked to drive forward when he could.
The general standard of football seemed to be mid Championship. It was mostly Rangers attacking but Dundee defended well and attacked with a threat - mostly Adewumi. They probably should have won it but a draw was about right.
I enjoyed the spectacle and it was a pleasure to see all the players mostly just getting on with playing football. There was little cynical stuff that we are used to.

That's not true. Cerny of Rangers looked the best player on the pitch when he drove forward.billyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:48 pm"However, the man of the match, surely according to every observer, was Seun Adewumi. Nobody puts tackles in unless they are desperate these days, it gets you booked. They get in position to block passing lanes.Hipper wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:37 amFirst time I've looked at a whole Scottish match.

Have a look at players tackling stats, you would be amazed how low they are for all players.

19 years old, he is some player with another fantastic goal, that's 4 in 10 starts.
Celtic and Rangers are the benchmark in the Scots league and he has scored against both of them.

Bet not many players, especially Burnley players, can say they’ve scored against both Rangers and Celtic, and certainly not in the space of a weekbillyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:11 pmGreat game and our lad was brilliant.

Bobby Seith for Dundee?
Dont know the answer but with the link-up between Burnley and Dundee I am surprised that noone has got a picture of Bobby with League winners medals for both clubs
Re: Adewumi
Well he didn’t get his league medal with Burnley until over a generation after 1960. I think it was the late 1990’s or early 2000’s but CT will know

Quite right mdd there was a lovely picture taken of him receiving it from Barry Kilby. Justice finally was done!
Just think someone missed an opportunity for a nice publicity photo something certainly unique for Burnley and Dundee.

Re: Adewumi
Promising signs. Easy to mock Scottish football, but it's not as bad as some make out and Celtic/Rangers have both only lost 1 European game in 6 this season. Could potentially have done a job for us over the next few months, but sometimes the bigger picture is leaving a young lad where they are and allowing them to develop in comfortable surroundings. If we don't go up this season, integrating players like Adewumi and Bauress alongside astute signings to replace the inevitable high profile departures would seem to be key to any future success.

Re: Adewumi
On the Bauress/McDermott thread we were discussing the difficulty of getting players decent loan opportunities. Playing for Dundee gives the lads some big game experience and is definitely better than League Two.
Not sure that it's done much for the reputations of Dodgson, Costelloe and Mellon who were at Dundee last season and are all back in League Two.
Mellon scored 3 in 14 games for them, Adewumi has now scored 4 in 15. Hopefully these last two games have given him confidence and he can keep up the good form for the rest of the season. Excellent experience for Adewumi who is still only 19.

Re: Adewumi
If the lad starts scoring too many in Scotland he'll get kicked up in the air. Some gnarly types can handle that just fine but Adewumi is only a skinny teenager.
Let's hope he comes back in one piece.

Dodgson and Costelloe are both currently in League One. Dodgson would have gone out on loan last summer but for an injury and is now at Burton and doing really well according to reports.dibraidio wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:07 amOn the Bauress/McDermott thread we were discussing the difficulty of getting players decent loan opportunities.
