Championship Football on ITV

Post by Hipper » Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:30 am

For those that don't have Sky there are a couple of Championship matches coming up on ITV (also being shown on Sky), starting this Sunday:

Sunday 19th Jan, ITV1 KO 1200: Leeds - Sheffield Wednesday

Monday 3rd Feb, ITV4 KO 2000: Middlesbrough - Sunderland

Have they paid their debts yet? If not, the EFL should be going nowhere near ITV.

Likewise, they're never on the telly.

It makes sense to show Leeds. Like them or not, they are biggest draw for telly games in the league

Leeds and Sunderland are easily the two biggest clubs in the Championship this year so makes sense they pick matches of them playing against their local rivals

Sunderland have large crowds but that's the only thing that's big about them
DL are media darlings and big in the eyes of Sky
Most fans outside Leeds want to see them bomb

Make sure they've signed the contract.

It's also a Yorkshire derby.

It would help if the rest of the country would boycott DL games on tv until it sinks in with Sky.

Problem is viewing figures for neutrals won't be that high. They don't put them on for neutrals, they put them on because it's a city of around a million people plus a lot of fans from across north, west & east Yorkshire.

2 best supported teams in Yorkshire, 2nd and 3rd best supported teams in the north-east. Why wouldn't they show them?
