Got a week off in March and we usually go for sunshine in the Canaries, have done Fuerteventura too many times and Matagorda, PDC and Costa Teguise.

Looking for something different in the Canaries, needs to be relatively quiet and flat.

Any advice welcome , has anyone been to Puerto de Santiago in Tenerife? Found an Airbnb , not sure how flat and if there is enough bars / restaurants to have a week there.

Flat and the canaries don’t really go together but I’m with jrobbo above Playa Blanca is about as flat as you’ll get it and plenty there . Santiago in Tenerife looks ok but as it’s on the north coast ( ish) it won’t be as guaranteed warmer weather

Different areas around Las Americas .if you don’t mind spending a Bob or 2 head up on Costa Adeje the area round El Duqe is real nice and some expensive hotels and no p-ss heads Puerto Santiago used to be quite out of the way as the motorway stopped before then,but haven’t heard any reports about it .La Caleta has some brilliant fish restaurants ,we’ve stayed many times round El Duqe but our friends have property near the airport so we now stop round Golf del Sur ,it’s full have 50 -75 yrs old Brits but there are loads of bars with sport on the restaurant are really inexpensive plus it’s only 20 mins from the airport.

Forgot to say that you can walk all the way on the front from La Caleta to Las Americas and it’s as flat as a pancake,and takes a couple of hours ,further north it’s mainly smaller bays so a lot hillier if you want to walk any distance

Can't knock Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, everything is all along the coast, all flat, lovely relaxing quiet resort but still enough bars and restaurants to choose from. Been multiple times

Mogan in Gran Can is a good shout……..nice port side restaurants and if you fancy a trip the buses are cheap and regularly run to other resorts ………

La caleta and El Duqe are nice, but maybe not flat enough for what is requested. Love the walk from la caleta to las americas but it's very up and down

I spent 6 months living in Las Americas back in my early 20s, and have spent a lot of time on holiday in Tenerife, and for me the best spot is El Medano, a small town on the south, relatively close to the airport.

It is not your typical tourist resort with Ye Olde Red Lion et al, however it has some really nice restaurants and tapas bars, and a lovely big beach.

They hold a lot of wind surfing championships, so has a bit of a surfer feel too.

The main town centre area is also very flat, with a lovely square that has a weekly market, and bars and restaurants dotted around it.

Also nearby is Los Abrigos which has a lot of very decent fish restaurants

Not too much going on in El Medano unless your into surfing ,our friends place is in Las Tejitas about 5 mins drive from El Medano ,not too much there but a nice little shopping centre which is made up of some nice bars and restaurants,as you say Los Abrigos has some great fish restaurants,El Mirador is a really nice restaurant,as I said we’ve gone down market a bit later an are less than 5 mins walk from San Blas ,but there are loads of cheap multi cultural restaurants there for everyone tastes.

we have had a property in EL MEDANO in tenerife for over 20 years .it is a very flat area near the airport , it was a spanish fishing village which has grown considerably over the last 15 years , its got plenty of bars and resteraunts but isnt your normal resort abroad , ie no british pubs or irish bars , just spanish type places .
It is a great place for a relaxing holiday but it can get windy as its a huge windsurfing/kite surfing resort , it is very close to the airport but we get very little aircraft noise

Some good recommendations and I’ll second some of them.

Not the Canaries but have you considered Morocco as an alternative? We normally do the Canaries in the winter but decided on Taghadzout just north of Agadir in November and loved it. It's similar flying time and tends to be less windy.

I mentioned that the walk from la calleta to las Americas Has a few ups and downs
Off the top of my head..
Steps and ramp onto beach path at la calleta
Slope down to path at the front of the big hotels
Long steep slope past the statue
Long steep slope past the currently closed small shopping centre, then lot of steps back onto the coastal path
Slope into colon, and steps out, then big flight of steps after the castle pub onto the beach
Like I say I've probably missed a few out,but if the person was expecting a flat walk they'd be in for a shock

For your information I do that walk, or various parts of it about 28 times a year, I'm not sure which one of your suggested titles that makes me.

We've been the last 2 years in March and the weather has been good apart from one of those sand clouds , Calima. Might have rained once but overall decent. Went in the March when we got relegated from PL under Dyche , forget the year , weather was rubbish, thick cloud all week and windy. Walking into town wearing a fleece and hat. Correlajo is our go to, go every November however our March break needs to be something different.

It does not have to be totally flat, we are early 50s and relatively fit however Mrs NL complains about walking up anything steep. When we stayed in Cavtat we were at the top of a steep climb and would flat out and sweating once we'd got back to the apartment.

Agree with your assessment, walked it many times La Caleta to Cristianos but definitely ups n downs. Small point, there is a ramp just after the castle pub to the casino

Overall it’s pretty flat ,can pick holes in some of your comment ,obviously you can avoid taking the ramp,at La Caleta ( and if you’ve been that many times at least you could spell it right ) There are ways to avoid certain climbs like anywhere else ,eg I couldn’t walk up Brunshaw rd to the top if you paid me but if I walked round The Ridge I’d have no problem.

Forgot you asked about Puerto de Santiago. It is flat but small. There are a few bars - maybe 3, and the Barcelo hotel has entertainment on. That's about it though. There is no beach apart from a small one on the way to Playa d'Arena. Los Gigantes is not far for more places to eat and drink, but it's not flat to get there. Short taxi ride would be needed.

I climbed that hill in Cavtat a couple of times in July for the free parking ! Not for the faint-hearted !

If you go on Google Earth you’ll see that they’ve built a lovely wooden walk way back to San Blas which takes about 20 mins and there’s a decent size supermarket and if you want the cheapest booze to drink in your apartment there’s an excellent Spanish shop right behind the supermarket ,and it’s also about a mile away in the opposite direction to Las Tejitas ,but if you go there catch the Titsa bus as the footpath isn’t very good and the roads quite narrow.

why dont you try Cyprus,beautiful place to visit with lots of history.Paphos is quite flat,plenty bars/restaurants etc,very reasonable prices too.Climate really good in March too 22/25 degrees .WeI have been going for years and hopefully will continue to do so...love the place!

Just a point on the buses
Since COVID all locals get free travel, and as such the buses are a lot busier than they used to be. Quite often I've had to stand, and I've seen buses regularly not allow anyone on as they're full, resulting in a long wait for the next one. Taxi drivers love it.

Not a great walk about 1.5 hours Google says and some uphill do. I’d imagine it’s about 10 euros in a taxi maybe.

Lots of taxis, just follow the signs. It's well marshalled but can get busy if lots of flights arrive at the same time

It’s normally easy taxis are normally plentiful all queued up right outside arrivals. As mentioned above if there are lots of flight at once there is sometimes a bit of a wait but never more than 10/15 mins or so and it’s a queue that’s policed by staff so no chaos.

It’s about €30ish into Los Cristianos from the airport so will only be €10-15 to where you’re going.

Must have been to Correlajo in Fuerteventura over 14 times so you could say we like the place!

It’s not a typical resort , it is combination of tourism and a working town. Plenty of variety when it comes to food and there’s a South American and Italian influence.
