Re: Forest/Liverpool
Doesn’t seem to be offside as much as he was when we had him ,obviously must be down to the coaching.

Liverpool have been **** poor last few games - it's not a shock they are behind

What a striker we had on our hands with Chris Wood. Good to see him still doing so well.

Doesn’t look very slow to me ,he just runs in a straight line towards the goals instead of 20 passes to get nowhere like most of the top 2 divisions do .

Definitely on the fence with this one. Liverpool are my second team, a pal is a Florist fan and I'm glad to see Chris Wood doing so well. A draw would suit me fine

Before Foster came back we didn’t have centreforward who could move fast enough to get offside

Shows how difficult it is to break down a packed defence. For all their talent Liverpool have struggled to create anything.
Re: Forest/Liverpool
Knew if a Burnley fan knew next to nothing about football if they didn't rate Chris Wood. And plenty didn't. Very underrated during his time here.

Wood was always a good PL striker but underrated by many of our fans. We didn’t play to his strengths or create many chances.

Wood was a quality player for us. The only reason Newcastle bought him was to send us down. They knew his goals would probably have kept us up.

It was more style than coaching… he played right off the shoulder. It actually suited him too… did a good job for us, until he didn’t.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 8:13 pmDoesn’t seem to be offside as much as he was when we had him ,obviously must be down to the coaching.
Re: Forest/Liverpool
Exactly this
I'm pleased for him. I guess his comfort zone comments were taken out of context. I think we were all feeling the same in the crowd at the time tbh

Re: Forest/Liverpool
If he was scoring for us at the time, that would actually be true. But he wasn’t. He was already completely and utterly disinterested in us, and it showed every week.

Re: Forest/Liverpool
We’re in for a hell of a shock if we go back up ,the speed of the Premier League has gone up by about 30 % ,bog standard so called average teams like Brentford Bournemouth and Forest have learnt how to beat the high possession stats of the top teams and play lightings breakaways and it’s breathtaking to watch.

Aren't Forest one of the lowest scoring teams in the Prem with the least possession?Stonehouse wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 9:41 pmWe’re in for a hell of a shock if we go back up ,the speed of the Premier League has gone up by about 30 % ,bog standard so called average teams like Brentford Bournemouth and Forest have learnt how to beat the high possession stats of the top teams and play lightings breakaways and it’s breathtaking to watch.

Re: Forest/Liverpool
Proper game of footy that was - really enjoyed it.
Forest keeper played a blinder - a good player. Cue big clubs nicking him soon.
Just hope that Forest can keep that intensity up to season end - they've managed it so far to be fair.

Re: Forest/Liverpool
A lot of Pep clones throughout the leagues and in grassroots would do well to watch Forest. You don’t have to give away comedy goals at the back and fanny around for 5 minutes without leaving your own penalty area.
If you’re not blessed with the best players in the league, then it’s actually fine to just defend properly, clear your lines, have a couple of rapid wingers and hit the big lad up front. Very refreshing to watch too.

spot on, Im all for keeping possession where possible, but the damage done to numerous teams by arseing about in clearly obvious dangerous areas close to their goal is laughable.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:35 pmA lot of Pep clones throughout the leagues and in grassroots would do well to watch Forest. nobody wants to watch so called hoofball, but there is a time for it. better to risk opponents gaining back the ball just so long as its 50 yards up the pitch. Inept passing around the penalty area is generally suicidal at higher levels. get rid Asap !!!!

He's is! I'll always remember a game where we beat or drew against them. When things don't go his way he throws his toys out of the pram and in that game was openly berating the officials after the game. Can anyone who enjoys watching Man City (or any team who tries to copy them) explain how it's entertaining to watch a team pass the ball around the back, from goal keeper to defender then back again.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:35 pmA lot of Pep clones throughout the leagues and in grassroots would do well to watch Forest. Re: Forest/Liverpool
For a start, it’s entertaining when the ball gets turned over and the attacking team scores. It’s also entertaining to watch a good passing team pass through the opposition get the ball up the pitch and create chances at the other end. I enjoy watching that, I also enjoy watching teams hit a long ball over the top like for example we used to do quite a lot of.

I generally try to avoid watching City games now. Guardiola just wants to keep possession at all costs and it feels like a chess match.
Games like last night and the Liverpool Man U game the other week are miles better to watch.

2nd most offside player in the prem, it’s the way he plays….. looking to run in behind regularly. Best striker I’ve seen at Burnley.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 8:13 pmDoesn’t seem to be offside as much as he was when we had him ,obviously must be down to the coaching.
