Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
If we take Obafemi back that means they lose two forward options and they've already lost Andre Gray. Is that even an option, wasn't it a season long loan?
The limit is five in the match day squad? They're aware that they already have 5 and can't play all of them if they get another one in.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Nothing to do with the Clarets however noticed Sam Clucas has signed for his hometown club Lincoln City from Oldham of all places and rovers have missed out on Grant Hanley who was gone to Birmingham City.

Didn't Clucas reject us to go elsewhere a few years back? Don't think it quite worked out.

Can't remember if he didn't pass the medical or terns could not be agreed?ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 3:13 pmDidn't Clucas reject us to go elsewhere a few years back? Don't think it quite worked out.

Didn't realise we tried to sign him twice, once from Hull and then Swansea. Personal terms could not be agreed.

Failed his medical , but not announced as the reason.
I think it was a blessing if I remember right because it created an opening for Dwight.

Mr Pace, don't listen to this half wit and get Brownhill to sign a new contract please.
Imagine we need goals and you'd flog our top scorer.

Buendia came on for Villa the other night so you would think little chance of that happening. Type of player we are crying out for though.

Have we been linked with Buendia? My understanding was the only club he'd been seriously linked with was Leeds (reunion with Farke) but that Villa wanted most if not all his very large wages paying.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
So, without having to read back through the multitude of chit-chat, are there any actual transfer rumours from decent sources?
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
With the lack of football, I'd be a bit concerned about Buendia needing about 6 months to get up to speed. Also likely to pick up niggly injuries.
Hell of a player though

I am obviously not going to to reveal my source but he is someone who is involved with transfers at a Premier League club and as they are relatively local and has both a good working relationship and speaks to agents that move in our circles, he picks up bits and pieces. Doesn't always call them right but in the last transfer thread for example I beat the first mention of Hannibal by about 5 pages.
I and he doesn't know who is on or off our lists either but he does know that we've enquired about Buendia recently.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Some comments about Whittaker's performance today off the Plymouth board.
- I'd take a Packet of Spangles for him just to get rid. His attitude stinks. Strolls around like this level is beneath him

- Played like he couldn’t give a t*ss today.
- Take the money and run after today's performance as long as its all reinvested in the playing staff.
- Such a lazy looking player. He won a foul on the edge of our box in stoppage time and I watched him literally walk to the other end. Not even a jog. Could understand it if he had put a shift in but I used more energy today walking from Lyndhurst Road. Lazy lazy lazy.
- I’d never thought this until today, but he clearly couldn’t be arsed. Al Hajj, Baidoo, Hardie, others all at least putting themselves about. MW was just floating around in a huff. Not worth his place in the team and will be worth less when we’re relegated. Sell.
- We carried him today. Total waste of a shirt

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
What we need is our attackers to fire in first time crosses, instead of cutting back and then passing back, allowing the defending team to reset and wait the 10 minimutes until we return.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
If Buendia goes anywhere in this league it will be Leeds.
We didn't replace the quality that left and everything Pace has said indicates that we didn't need to sell more than 3 or 4 - this average squad is on him, the recruitment team and Parker.

I don’t think the average squad is on Parker, signings like sambo, Pires and hountonji already made before Parker arrived. Flemming was a play we haven’t wanted for a while as was Sarmiento.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 10:59 pmIf Buendia goes anywhere in this league it will be Leeds.

Worrall, Laurent and Anthony were clearly Parker signings and I would say Laurent and Anthony have been 2 of our better players this season.
It falls on Alan pace allowing kompany to spend 100+ million on players who wanted to jump ship at first chance they got, pace should have rolled the dice and spent money to ensure promotion this season. We are second with an average championship side, we would of been at least 10 points clear had we kept Odobert, Berge and Amdouni or replaced with similar quality

That’s why I said or replaced with similar quality if you read the full post, by all accounts Amdouni wanted the chance to play at a higher level but didn’t down tools and was even in the squad at Sunderland so Alan pace could of said unfortunately we need you this season you can’t go anywhere

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Why not? I understand the financial element but Leicester did it, they sold two players in Maddison and Barnes and kept the rest of their premier league team today and benefited by winning the league comfortably in the end.
Fulham did it under Marco Silva too.
11 games drawn this season, if we had the quality we had last season we would be absolutely clear at the top
