Sheff Utd getting loads of good deals done. BBD and Cannon in the last 24 hours. Already strong going forwards. We need to sort our final third out quickly.

Sheff Utd's recent buisness bears more resemblance to an Asda trolley dash than a meaningful strengthening push. Good chance it'll do more harm than good to their chances.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 7:06 pmSheff Utd getting loads of good deals done. BBD and Cannon in the last 24 hours. Not fussed about Cannon. If he was that good Leicester would be keeping hold of him for next season.

BBD bang average championship player.Cannon is no loss.Sheff Utd will not last and our squad is far stronger especially with Jonjo and soon to be signed Whittaker.

I wish I had your confidence. Blades have little trouble scoring, apart from against us. It means less game time for a player who has helped them reach an automatic place. Sometimes an addition can lead to some dressing room unrest.

Well, with Egan, Worrall, Barnes and Shelvey, I think we'll toughen up some of the younger lads, and hopefully will impress on Hannibal, the need to control his aggression.

With Jay Rodriguez added to that list, does that now mean that Scott will have to drop the claim at every post match press conference of having a very young group of players to work withDarnhill Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 10:35 pmWell, with Egan, Worrall, Barnes and Shelvey, I think we'll toughen up some of the younger lads, and hopefully will impress on Hannibal, the need to control his aggression.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
It's hard to say if Whittaker wants away. The majority of the season Rooney played him very wide on the wing hence one reason not scoring the goals of last season. It is known he wasn't happy with the appointment of Rooney and he is a player that can sulk. I tend to think that a price was agreed in the summer because the last refusal was not because of the offer but we couldn't get his replacement in before the closing of the window. We have signed the replacement now (BAidoo). As we only paid 1.5 million for him you have came in with a lower offer which has been rejected.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 7:04 pmHi there Janner.
I don't read your boards but from what's been posted on here recently, specifically with regards to Saturday it sounds like he's lost interest for the Pilgrims.
I am not 100% sure he's what we need to be honest but there seems to be a pursuit of sorts. It's probably worth looking at what happened to us AFTER the season began; around 15 players left, as they wanted out. It happens, often not much clubs can do about it in the end.
We lost players like Berge, Vitinho, Muric, O'Shea, Odebert, quality players but they wanted to leave so left. No point keeping an unhappy asset.
Whether he ends up here or not who knows? Seems Boro are now keen on making a move for him.

Sheffield United looking to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, still only 31.
Played 30 times last season so maybe over his fitness issues, what a signing he'd be at this level exactly what we should be looking at.
If they pull it off their in a great position for automatic promotion. Burnley v horse fiddlers in the playoffs

Oxlade Chamberlain is a definitely a no no from me.He had couple of good.years at Arsenal and produced little of late. We have Redmond to produce when fit and don't need another maybe ok player.

Problem with that is I can’t see them agreeing any option to buy and then we end up in another Tella/Maatsen/THB situation. I’d prefer players where we get options, if possible.brexit wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:00 amhttps://footballleagueworld.co.uk/burnl ... iker-race/

We say signings such as Cannon and Diaz and maybe the Ox and Keane are poor
Blades fans will no doubt be saying the same about Barnes and Shelvey plus Redmond if ever fit
Can't wait to see who Leeds sign

Has produced little of late but I think his time at Liverpool was under rated. If he’s fit I honestly wouldn’t mind him at all.

Don't shoot the messenger but a friend down here who's a big Janner is saying Whittaker won't feature tonight as a deal has almost been agreed. No idea how true this is, but they don't want anything announced before the game?

I see no difference in the Ox signing and Shelvey. Both ex premier players. Both in around same age. In fact id say Shelvey for me is better for us.bumba wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:12 amSheffield United looking to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, still only 31.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Liking these Sheffield purchases. Apart from the Cannon one because Moore is a weak link. Who would they drop for Oxlade Chamberlain or BBD - Hamer, O Hare? Could be a lot of players who aren’t renowned for tracking back. These tactics are a balance, Wilder may be starting to panic and they may start shipping goals. They will soon hit a run of games where they get Boro H, Luton A, Leeds H and QPR A (the latter with more points in the last dozen games or so).
I suspect our only purchases will be Whittaker and a striker, probably the latter on loan.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Yeah, and that might have to be the decision in the end. Ultimately the strategy did work but left us with a big hole in the squad which was at least in part responsible for the level of turnover that summer.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:51 amAt this stage I'd be happy with players to get us over the line come May.
If other players are available that would come with loan options I would rather sign them than add value to a player we don’t own and likely never will.
These are 100% the type of players I’d like us to be looking at though - fringe premier league players lacking game time.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Ox offers more drive and forward runs for me and will score more goals, Shelvey I think will be cover for Cullen.
Shelvey will start more games on the bench, I think Ox would start in our team and improve us
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I think you miss the point. The comment wasnt, sheffield united have turned more 0-0 draws into 1 nil wins.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 10:29 pmFair point Conroy. If we had scored 7 more goals we could have got an extra 14 points on the board turning 0-0's into 1-0 victories. If only eh?
It was that, the blades have little trouble scoring.
As no one would say this about us, and the fact they have only scored 7 more goals than us. I think it is pap.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
A second bid gone in for Whittaker according to BBC Sport, £5m plus add ons.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Sheff Utd's first crop of incomings in Summer were very astute. However this window they are going gun-ho, and if not careful will create a huge squad of players that can't keep them in the PL should they get promoted. They will also alienate their existing forwards who got them here

I'd feel much more comfortable at that level, and it is a similar bid to what Boro have put in.
All depends on the add ons but I don't think he's a £10m plus player, particularly based on this seasons performances.

No difference from Boro’s bid. So there must be some indication coming out of Plymouth if both teams have gone in with that bid.
