Same, I remember being so proud of the little book and the plastic money box that I had.

Remember my money box being metal, it was green and shaped like a book.

Thel 45 rpm is still available for about £5.00 online but without the original sleeve which I thought was a sort of a 'Grease' copy.

Ooh posh, mine was red plastic and if I remember right you had to put your coin at the top and turn it for the coin to drop into the box, then you turned it the other way to release the bottom part when you took it into to the building society with you savings book to get the coins out.

Martin-p, wasn’t the Green book money box, given out by TSB, which I’ve a couple of. I also had the round metal money box.

I mentioned before that this would make a good 'anthem' for the Turf immediately before kick off.

My Mum worked at the Burnley Building Society. Now into her 70's she perhaps met many Clarets on this board.

She really enjoyed her time there.

Excellent work.

Whist this was was an initial foray into the broadcasting arena for Rushdie, his subsequent endeavours brought much more global attention.

He wrote a **** book called 'The Satanic Verses' in 1988 which led to a quarter of the World's population to object and try to string him up by the balls and other stuff which goes beyond comprehension.

As far as I know, Rushdie is either dead or working at a convenience store near a major Motorway in the UK.

It's all the same.

Good tune DG.

I worked for the Burnley (and its successors) for 33 years and was proud to have been part of a National giant created in my home town.

Remember that in the midst of innovative music from New York etc that The Angels Nite Spot played this time on a Saturday night to much acclaim.

Ronnie Bond of The Troggs arranged the musical elements I believe.

I'm too young to remember the building society, but I'm sure the song was on a Burnley FC cd they released in the 90s

There was a time when Burnley was globally known for three things, it's
Football club
Building Society
Grammar School
At least it's still got its Grammar School!

I bank with Santander today by virtue of having a BBS savings account at primary school.

I found a copy of the Best Dreams single in my parents' loft a few years back. I hope it's still there.

I arrived at Santander from the National Giro Bank via the Alliance & Leicester B/Soc. We never got any music.

Martin-p, I will have to look up my money boxes, thanks for the pics.
mybloodisclaret, I possibly know your Mum. Ask her if she worked with Neil Beecham, who was the branch manager of the Burnley Parker Lane branch and Bill Dooley, which might have been when it was taken over. Also employed there was Jim Thompson, who a lot on here remember working matchdays for Burnley Fc. They had a Sunday League football team called the Bees. I and Red Wasp played against them for Red Wasps and the Burnley Express, referred to it in the write up, as the Bees v Wasps.

It used to be good to see their adverts at various football grounds.

What a great tune. Not heard it before. Can we adapt to be a song sang/played on the turf? :)

An ex girlfriend of mine, Marianne Cavanagh, worked at the Parker Lane branch in the late 70s early 80s. She was a lovely girl who sadly passed away from cancer last year.

Back to Lancaster University, The Juke Box Manager (yes there was such a post) of Cartmel College put it on the jukebox and it became a hit and College anthem in the early 80s. All the discos ended with the song as well. Burnley had a big presence on the campus around that time and there were converts as well. SCAN the uni newspaper also had the headline "Hamilton sinks the Mighty Spurs" after our Milk Cup win in 1983
