From Live TV.

Trafford - 6 - Played as sweeper. Short passing very good, long passing mediocre.

Roberts - 7 - Did both defensive and attacking duties well. Goal involvement too.

Egan-Riley - 6 - Largely untroubled although one glaring error.

Esteve - 6 - Also untroubled. A bit of a threat at corners.

Pires 5 - Disappointing as I assume he was picked to provide an attacking threat but didn’t really.

Brownhill - 7 - Good movement and interplay and good work for the first goal.

Cullen - 7 - Kept us moving, defending and more from him in attack, including the quick free kick and a goal.

Laurent - 8 - Defended, drove us forward and was a real goal threat.

Foster - 6 - I wanted more from him. He did help with the goals and attempts on goal but presented little goal threat himself.

Flemming - 8 - MoM - Pretty mobile, some good hold up play but erratic lay-offs, somehow missed two good heading opportunities on goal. A goal threat throughout with a top quality finish for the first goal, good opportunism for his second and directly caused the fifth with his anticipation.

Anthony - 8 - Our main creative force. Our biggest threat came from the right.

Subs.

Sarmiento - 5 - Offered little but we’d mostly lost interest by then.

Koleosho - 5 - ditto.

Not on long enough.

Hannibal - Did OK on the left but one bit of flashiness may have proved costly against a better side. No need for that late in the game.

Rodriguez - OK. Surprised Barnes didn’t get a run out.

I wasn’t sure how to mark our players considering this Plymouth team was the worst we are likely to see in The Championship. They were awful. On the other hand it is only away that they have been thrashed. They’d only lost three at home by the odd goal until last night.

For ten minutes they pressed us quite well but the signs were there that defensively they were weak. After the first goal that was it. I suspect this is because of injuries and departures but also because of the way they were set up. Whilst we were creative I fear our success up front in this game was solely due these issues with our opponents and not suddenly because we have found our goal scoring abilities.

I enjoyed that first half though, even most of the second.

From the bottom team to the top team next.

From tv
Trafford 7 not much to do
Roberts 7 involved in many of our attacks
CJ 7 couple of dodgy moments then settled down
Esteve 7 not a lot to do
Pires 7
Cullen 8 everywhere in midfield plus on the spot for his goal
Laurent 8 he's much better when he uses his pace to bomb forward and get into their box
Brownhill 8 cracking all round performance
Anthony 8 at last he was fully involved in our attacking game and worked hard tracking back
Flemming 9 mom it was a toss up for mom between him and Cullen. His first half goals and link up play were excellent so he gets my vote. He can certainly strike a ball
Foster 7 great energy and running, but he puts defenders under pressure

Sarimiemto 6 did he touch the ball? Though it's not easy coming on a sub when your team is five nil up and cruising
Koleosho 6 same as Sarmiento

The first half display was scintillating albeit against a weak team. We do seem to be gelling as the season progresses, which will be needed if we are to get promoted.

Flemming 9 Boom goes the Dynamite

You must of watched a different game than me. He was poor all night his decision making is poor, he constantly miss places passes and throw ins and gets the wrong side of his man he is our weak link.
He can't be much of a weak link. I make it that in 18 league starts and a couple of substitute appearances, he's been part of a defence that has conceded 6 goals whilst he's been on the pitch and I can only think of one goal that I'd consider him especially culpable for (Portsmouth at home where he was one of several players who could have done more to stop or intercept the cross). I think we've also scored 26 goals whilst he's been on the pitch, so both our team goals scored and conceded statistics are pretty consistent whether he or Humphreys is at left back. Last night his passing accuracy compares to anyone (comfortably over 80% success rate) and more particularly, he made a number of forward passes which helped us get beyond Plymouth's press and into space behind their midfield. He also improved significantly the quality of our set pieces.

I don't think he's a world beater and I think there are lots of games for which Humphreys is the better answer. But he's a perfectly good left back who against teams that we're expected to beat and set the agenda, offers plenty with his ability to pass forwards to deep, and he had a decent game last night.

He and Foster seem to be two who have their critics at Burnley, perhaps as a legacy of the man who signed them both. Foster also had an excellent game last night and played a particularly selfless role for the team that created huge amounts of space and opportunity for others. We're a better team with him in it.

I’m astonished at some of the ratings given out. We were everything we want to be and more in that first half, albeit against a very poor side.

Yesterday was my first game of the season and it was a privilege to watch that passing and movement. We understandably took our foot off the gas in the second half with one eye on Leeds.

I’m by no means a footballing expert but I do wonder what some people watch at times.

I should have mentioned the top quality of Plymouth's pitch and also their ball boys/girls who seemed very efficient and keen.
