I enjoyed that.
Parker's speech at the end was excellent too with 1 "****" in there. Compare that to the previous incumbent!
Parker's a class act imo

Enjoyed that. Was never sure about Connor Roberts but he came across really well. Great to see the togetherness in the squad. So glad we’ve whittled down the numbers as I think it makes a massive difference. UTC.

1. Inadvertent or not, Scott Parker standing at least very close to (if not in front of) the mirror in the dressing room immediately before saying he spends hours looking at (videos)
2. Josh Brownhill very eloquently trying to explain what it's like to beat Wovers "It's like an out of body experience".

He’s tremendous, as both a footballer and a character. The very type of player you need in your team.

I’m sure that was the final conversation of a series. They’d probably been speaking about targets for weeks.agreenwood wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 8:51 pmEnjoyed that.
Hope the conversation between Pace & Parker regarding Barnes was staged. Hopefully Parker gets more say in our signings that a quick “are you ok with that?” whilst he’s eating his Fruit & Fibre.

I said it at the time, but watching that video confirms that Barnes was signed when he was for the mind games aspect with the game against bastards.deanothedino wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 11:34 amI’m sure that was the final conversation of a series. It worked perfectly.
Re: Burnley: Keeping The Faith
The talk to the players at the end of the Rovers game by Parker was class. Contrast that with Kompany on the Mission to Burnley clips and he would have been f'in with every other word and just rambling with utter nonsense.

Yes, obviously very uninspiring team talks. Makes you wonder how he ever managed to get us promoted with a record points haul and one of the most enjoyable seasons in living memory.

I don’t think that amount of swearing is that unusual in sports tbh.

Fergie and Warnock used to strip the paint off dressing room walls with the old vernacular.deanothedino wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 4:36 pmI don’t think that amount of swearing is that unusual in sports tbh.

I can imagine Fergie being a bit conservative with his expletives ,so when he used them it made a bigger impact instead of somebody swearing every other word and trying to look macho.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:43 pmFergie and Warnock used to strip the paint off dressing room walls with the old vernacular.

Or we'd just been promoted to the Premier League and he wasn't nearly up to the required standard. That's not to say the others we signed were, but still doesn't make it not true.

Re: Burnley: Keeping The Faith
Some serious revisionism goes on with Kompany. Folk on here lapped up his introductory speech to the squad and some of the clips of him coaching. Likewise the comments from the squad about what a good and thorough coach he was. He was a breath of fresh air for many for as long as things were going well.
Now things are going well with Parker and he’s a breath of fresh air and Kompany the devil in disguise.

Or maybe its because people have seen the way he behaved in the dressing room when things were going wrong last season? His team talks just became a mix of swearing and absolute gibberish.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:23 amSome serious revisionism goes on with Kompany. I wouldn’t say revisionism, necessarily. People have just changed their opinion a little after seeing a side of Kompany that, certainly from the outside, didn’t appear particularly nice.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:23 amSome serious revisionism goes on with Kompany. Re: Burnley: Keeping The Faith
I'd imagine most managers in the football league could have got us promoted with the money we spent, the high end loans, the endless signings ,the highly experienced prem leauge core of players etc etc. While i do believe VK helped us achieve the record points tally, this, like the season itself was just a entertaining bauble. He showed his almost staggering naivety and ego driven petulance in the disasterous prem season that followed. While i'm glad we brought him here, one would imagine his team talks will hardly be in any inspirational texts in the coming years...

I could tell after the first few games we were going up. This was down to Kompany. Say what you like about him, but he made us play the best football in the club's history.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 1:10 pmI'd imagine most managers in the football league could have got us promoted with the money we spent, the high end loans, the endless signings ,the highly experienced prem leauge core of players etc etc. While i do believe VK helped us achieve the record points tally, this, like the season itself was just a entertaining bauble. Probably true if the club's history began in 1975..thomaskingt wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 1:23 pmhe (VK)made us play the best football in the club's history.
We put out sides through the 60's that you could argue were as good as any in the land...the 72-74 side were arguably better too.

Just to add....I doubt there's a player from 22/3 season that would get near an all-time Burnley 11.

Here's mine. 433 formation.
Stevenson
John Angus
Colin Waldron
Brian Miller (C)
Keith Newton
Brian O'Neil
Martin Dobson
Frank Casper
Willie Morgan
Andy Lochead
Ralph Coates
Subs:
Jim Thomson (G)
Jimmy Adamson
John Talbut
Peter Noble
Willie Irvine
Leighton James
Dave Thomas
Ashley Westwood
Perfectly correct none of those players would get near my all time 11 or subs bench. The closest were Maatsen and Tella.

That comment is absolute rubbish. Are we ok to disagree? Or does your type keep flooding the board with your tripe who has never watched a football game in their life?

Re: Burnley: Keeping The Faith
Probably didn't help that we went from playing some brilliant football two years ago to being so poor last season with a manager who no longer had any emotion invested in the team but was just clearly in it for himself when he left.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:23 amSome serious revisionism goes on with Kompany. Sadly not. I'm much older I'm afraid, and I remember going to football matches long before 1992.

1921. Title winners. First season back after war. Broke records for games without a loss. Most of the players had fought in the war. I think in comparison nothing comes close

Decent selection...presume sub keeper is Harry Thomson?.. I'd probably swap Blacklaw and Pope for Stevenson and Thomson...and maybe Trevor Steven for Westwood on that bench.
Oh...and Tarks might get a look in.
