Cricket Field Stand Fans - We Need You!

Post by billyhamilton82 » Sun Jan 26, 2025 12:17 pm

Your time to shine!

Make the Turf noisy and hostile tomorrow and the rest of the stands will follow.

Leeds will make a lot of noise but lets get behind the lads from the start and shut them up.

Win the battle in the CFS and we win the game.

We are the Longside Burnley

Leeds away support is unrivalled at this level so only way to shut them up is out performing them on the pitch. I think the Burnley home fans can do a lot more in creating an atmosphere and getting behind the team but up against the ferocious Leeds support its a losing battle so its gonna have to be on the pitch where Burnley look to dominate

That makes sense.

If we made a bad start and went 0-1 down we may as well go home according to that advice.

The fans are the 12th man and should do their best to lift the players in all situations, good or bad.

Creating an atmosphere is all well and good, but I have just switched off the Palace v Brentford game, the constant banging of the drum and the constant one silly chant was getting right on my tits.

He wouldnt have been in the trenches. He would’ve been elsewhere, pretending to be one thing, whilst actually being another, thereby undermining the entire war effort.

Quite agree, I don't have the sound on if I bother watching Place home games. South London's number one chant is really irritating. Being No1 over Millwall and Charlton is not actually much of an achievement is it!

Also today - tin hat ready - the dullest woman commentator makes the whole thing unbearable for me so I watched Hoffenheim v Eintracht Frankfurt instead.......and their drum is equally irritating!!

To be fair Leeds support is incredible. A population of only 800,000 plus s huge catchment area around west yorks, it's unbelievable that they can take a few thousand to away games.

Nothing but admiration from me.

Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Wakefield - a small part of Leeds' catchment are with a population of only 2,320,214, Bradford have 20,214 supporters at the last count, so yes, they do well to get a few thousand to away games with only 2.3m to choose from.

First “6 pointer” game for donkeys years I can think where we’re in an ultra close promotion/title battle against a real rival . I expect the atmosphere to be brilliant . Though with an estimated 100,000 Leeds fans travelling it’s anyone’s game . Let’s not forget Leeds fill elland rd even when they’re playing away …

I'd argue the call to arms should be directed towards the Bob Lord. The Cricket Field in general are always leading the charge and it doesn't always translate to everyone else getting involved.

If the Bob Lord is up for it, then there's no reason why everyone else shouldn't be

I know I feel a lot less jolly on Monday's than I do compared to a Friday night. Plus it has been relentless mid-week games, we've only had 1 Saturday home kick off since the start of December and it's lost its novelty now.

I realise I seem to be in a small minority, but I find most of DA’s posts quite funny. I like a bit of studied detachment.
But anyway - it should be a great atmosphere tonight, with all home supporters noisily backing the Clarets.

There is going to be a lot of sheep with sore bottoms in East Lanc's this evening.

Woke Note

Apologies to those with sensibilities, Animal welfare lobbyists and Yorkshire Clarets. Very poor taste gag but sometimes you can't resist. A bit like Yorkshire folk with our woolly friends.

At one point in the 2nd half, all four stands were singing 'We are the Longside', even under a wolly hat and hood it sounded ok. However by 70mins both sets of fans seemed dead quiet! Leeds again noisy as I walked up Belvedere Rd at F/T.

I thought the fans were quite game but when you're watching two teams who aren't even pretending to be interested in winning the game, it's difficult to get excited.

I think this is it. A good atmosphere tends to be when the fans are up for it, the players respond/deliver with football than gets fans off their seat, and the atmosphere continues to build. Our fans were alright for the first 10 minutes or so of each half but didn't get any fuel to add to the fire.

Allez Allez seemed to echo round three stands last night. Thought it sounded good. That song at volume is a cracker. It shut Leeds up anyway. Where I sit in the Longside it was the most vocal we've been since the last promotion season. The lads got backed last night.

I sit right at the back of the Jimmy Mac upper and when that song was in full flow it sounded superb.
I must learn the words myself to join in and if all four sides -even the Bob Lorders- join in......

Staying down forever,
Is what the B@stards said,
In 1987, they said our club was dead,
We won the league at Ewood,
Now everywhere we go,
We’ll sing this song forever,
And let the B@stards know

Allez allez allez x 4 :D
