I'd be thrilled with this one.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 10:58 amhttps://x.com/fabrizioromano/status/188 ... cYMQnkX92A
He's exactly the type of player I think we need and very good quality, real marquee signing imo.

Exciting signing, fair play.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
So much for my belief that Parker didn't habe the same network and pulling power as Kompany. That's an incredible coup if we can get it over the line.

He was a serious prospect a number of years ago when coming through. Safe to say he hasn't had the career than many expected, but he did well a few season ago at Sporting.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I tend to feel that the momentum they gathered as they rose through the divisions didn’t just level out when they reached the Premier League, I think that that season emptied their tank completely. It can be hard to recover from.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 10:50 amThe only Luton player worth having was Doherty
Those others aren't good enough.Luton are where they belong.Their brawler tactics have been sussed by opposition teams.
They played to their strengths, and as ugly as it was perceived, it was fantastic to see.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Is he a right winger?
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Have to admit I don’t know much about him. I was thinking it was Marc Edworthy!

He can play on either wing, but usually the right. He is a really giid dribbler which is what I think we need in the wide areas

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I was told we were in for Adebayo in the summer so that wouldn’t surprise me. Although we were definitely in for Whittaker too and don’t think we made much effort there so maybe we’ve changed targets.
For me he’d be a good signing:
- He’s just turned 27, so coming in to his prime but would likely have a resale value at some point if he did well with us
- Is huge, so a real handful for defences, as we saw with his foul on Trafford last year. I think we need a real upgrade in height and physicality if we get to the premier league, particularly in midfield, but this would sort the top end of the pitch out in that regard.
- Has hit double figures in a relegated premier league side so proven if he gets the service.
I reckon he’s OOC in the summer though so he might want to play the season out and see what options he has in summer.

Parkers other link and now signing Anthony, I believe has been one of the best incomings this season, and seems to enjoy playing for Parker. That may be a good sign if we pull this signing off

Excellent signing - the sort of quality I think we’ve needed and rightly held on for.
Imagine this means Anthony left now, which would be my only concern as I think he’s looked better on the right!

Edwards would be a serious signing for the Championship.
He’s played a lot of European level football. Small, tricky, dribbler …… was being talked on the verges of England squad a couple of times.
Be surprised if we get him.

He’s a 1 in 5 striker. We don’t need anymore of them. His Prem stats are skewed by the hat trick he got in his only season.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 11:19 amI was told we were in for Adebayo in the summer so that wouldn’t surprise me. Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
The most encouraging thing about Edwards POTENTIALLY joining is that he’s a clear upgrade in ability. We lost players in the summer and replaced with players of significantly lesser ability. This is an exciting move. I hope it comes off!

1 in 5 in the top division and the Champions League is a bit different to the Championship I assume?

Flemming has scored 5 in the last 9 league games.
If you include the cup game he has scored 7 in 10.
In actual fact he has scored 7 in 8 starts.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I would have thought if Parker has a relationship with Edwards it's a product of him coaching in Spurs' youth set up either side of his spell as a player at Fulham and before going back to Fulham as manager. On paper he'd be a bit of a coup.

People were getting giddy over le fee when he signed for Sunderland. If Edward’s signs for us that’s a real coup. Fingers crossed.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Saying they were teammates at spuds is stretching things somewhat. Parker left spuds 3 years before Edwards signed his first pro contract. He was in their youth system while Parker happened to be a player there.

Edwards would have only been 15 when parker left though. He might well know him but teammates they obviously were not.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
As above, I think that's a misunderstanding. Parker went back to Spurs after retiring as a player to coach in Spurs youth set up - that was 2017/2018 when Edwards was 18 or 19. I think he also started coaching younger kids part time whilst playing at Spurs before leaving for Fulham. Jonathan Hill was at Spurs in their youth set up at the same time.quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 12:20 pmSaying they were teammates at spuds is stretching things somewhat.
