Not in today's squad hopefully the link with Celtic isn't true.

Honestly, if he wants to go to Celtic then cash in on him while we still can.
Celtic are garbage, by the way.

He SOMETIMES puts in a performance that would have the occasional viewer thinking that, but mostly he’s a very good championship player.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:14 pmIt isn't. He's clearly EPL quality, so he'll be going there.
If he’s off, we need some proper wonga incoming. To replace brownhill with a like for like centre midfielder would cost us £15m-£20m I reckon, so that’s what we should be holding out for.

He gets Champions League football. When else is he going to get that opportunity. It's a no brainer let's be honest.

Re: Brownhill
I wish Josh well in his (semi) retirement. A shame to go so early while in his prime. He’ll get a couple of games a season of note, ironically his first games up there would include Kompany’s Bayern. But the rest is League 1 standard.
Feels true, it was obvious on the club interview this week, he was saying something like “even if I stick below 200 games it is still proud and impressive”.
He’s done it the right way so I wish him well if and when he goes.

There’s no way we’d get that for him, in the last few months of his contract.bobinho wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 3:32 pmHe SOMETIMES puts in a performance that would have the occasional viewer thinking that, but mostly he’s a very good championship player.

I can only assume that we have someone else lined up, if this is true. It’d be a strange move to risk promotion by selling now instead of allowing him a free at the end of the season.
I’ve never been his biggest fan, but he’s an integral part of what we have achieved, so far this season.
Re: Brownhill
Evans has tweeted twice along the lines of "the commentator is saying Brownhill is off to Celtic".
He is repeating what he has heard, nothing else.

Just so I’m clear….
The only source for this is an American commentator?
Do US based commentators often break stories about Championship football?

Selling our top scorer when we struggle enough as it is would be absolutely idiotic. I’m hopeful for that reason this isn’t true.

Re: Brownhill
If he’s going I doubt we’ll get much more than £5m for him. Only 4 months left on his contract. It may just be a smaller loan fee.
He’s a key part of the dressing room and one of our better players at this level.
I’d rather him stay and help us with promotion. I feel we are weakened without him in the midfield.
That’s dependant on any incomings and we haven’t seen what Shelvey can do yet.

He must have heard it from a seperate commentator then.
As the British commentators definitely said it after he posted that. Can only assume various commentators have been told that

No serious wonga on offer for a 5 month contract in January.

Re: Brownhill
Then you surely agree with me then?
He wouldn't have made any difference today.
Re: Brownhill
He will win a Scottish Premiership champions medal followed by Champions League. 60,000 East Glasgow Scots roaring him on. The whole of Ireland and good chunks of America. Certainly all their police!warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:13 pmLets not get carried away with unconfirmed stories. We would need to be taking a good offer from Celtic to let him go now

We lost the midfield battle at times today which we never really do - especially against 'poorer' sides. I personally think he would have made a difference.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:19 pmThen you surely agree with me then?

Re: Brownhill
Selling the captain and leading scorer in the January window might not be the wisest decision.
It will be for financial rather than footballing reasons given that his contract is running down.

Re: Brownhill
Agreed. Brownhill is generally a decent Championship standard player, but given how we were set up today, I don't think he'd have made a difference to this game.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:27 pmWhere do you think we'd be this year without Brownhill? You obviously disagree, but hey ho.
Re: Brownhill
Can’t say im overly bothered about Brownhill whatever happens. Hes a good top end championship player and just about adequate as a squad player in the premier league. Ultimately we need an improvement from Brownhill in the team if we are to be a premier league club.
