16 games left
I see 13 wins and 3 draws which should see us up, no problem.

Re: Oxford is now a must win
So another 0-0?
Really?
Re: Oxford is now a must win
Can't say I'm looking forward to Tuesday. This match has the potential for the ground to turn toxic if we continue with our pedestrian style. At home we should be playing with a high press and getting after the opposition.
Re: Oxford is now a must win
Best thing that can happen on Tuesday is an early goal. It actually doesn’t matter who for.
If it’s to us, great, everyone relaxes. If it’s to them, fine, wipe this clean sheet stuff from the mind and go and be positive to score a goal.

In the games where we have played with 3 CMs and 3 forwards we have looked more like scoring than in the games where we played 2CMs..blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 6:14 pm0-0 written all over it. 3 holding midfielders who don’t want to attack. Laurent and Brownhills forward runs from deep have created more chances than playing the likes of Sarmiento at 10

Fully agree, its the only way to beat a low block by breaking the lines and creating confusion.BigBadBarnes wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 12:39 pmIn the games where we have played with 3 CMs and 3 forwards we have looked more like scoring than in the games where we played 2CMs..

Not sure how you've interpreted my post but that's not what I have said.
Re: Oxford is now a must win
We should live in hope.....Oxford won only one away from home.......but drawn 5.....so i think I will watch the match on Sky........
Re: Oxford is now a must win
3pts behind 2nd and 48pts to play for still, yet yesterday was a must win?
We’re a long way off must win territory!

Hopefully not we aren’t in bad place results wise. I’m not sure what some people expect we don’t have the nous or ability to roll teams over at will on a consistent basis. I think some people freely forget when faced with another opponent they deserve credit for also executing their own game plan whether to stifle or go for it. We are well within contention & need to remain that way if it drops off to a point where SU are uncatchable (forget Leeds) it’s understandable. I think andrex could be in unnecessary high demand amongst certain quarters.

I think it's more likely that this message board turns toxic. Even more than it usually is.

No need to panic.
There are no "must win" games at this stage.
Wins matter but we need professional displays. Also, we're better together than against. Look at how Portsmouth fans made it difficult.

Re: Oxford is now a must win
It's a "must perform" more than a "must win". We haven't put in a decent home performance since before Christmas and we absolutely need to score a goal. One win in the last six home games simply isn't good enough if we have genuine aspirations of automatic promotion. Nobody wants the play-offs, so it's time to take the initiative and put teams to the sword.
Re: Oxford is now a must win
Time to open up a bit for me and go for it.
You’d think, at the minimum now we’d get 6th place. So the difference with plodding along in 3rd or finishing 6th doesn’t matter. I’d rather be sat talking after game 46 with friends saying “y’know what, we went for it”. Rather than finishing 3rd, shrugging our shoulders saying “what was all that about”.

Re: Oxford is now a must win
By far the two best home performances (off the top of my head) were Cardiff and Watford and both times we scored early and then relaxed and played well. That's been the key all season because we just haven't been able to get the early goal at home and matches then wear on and fans, players and coaches become increasingly extremely tense and we start to struggle.

Five wins and 1 draw.
Think I will do the lottery this week.
