By all accounts he has. I was asking if we could pull out of the deal if it isn’t complete yet with cj potentially going to palace.

CJ is not going to Palace, apparently it was a spoof account according to my son.

Hmmmm. The plot thickens.

Turning down £15m for a player refusing to sign a contract extension that walks away in June would also be insane.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 11:38 amBreaking up a record breaking defence now would be insane

It does seem to confirm that he will be gone in Summer regardless. We can't really compete with Palace at the moment on any front.
You've got to take a gamble occasionally though and this is probably one of those times if the story of a 15m bid is true

I'm going to say that we will make a loss on Tresor......
But that's not answering your question, my feeling over the years, is that we have like Gibson, my instinct is that we haven't watched the pennies enough, but specifically pertaining to the Pace Era which if I'm honest I was alluding to, I haven't got the facts to hand, so I'll do some homework and provide back up evidence or admit I'm wrong if I'm wrong...

Red Star Belgrade have also received late interest from Burnley for striker Pape Cherif Ndiaye. Sunderland were keen before Liverpool sanctioned Jayden Danns loan.

Interesting that the signings and links since Parker have come in have all been for players who have experience. The previous plan of taking punts on multiple young players in the hope 1 or 2 come off seems to be out of the window.
I'm glad we're trying to get a bit of balance to the age profile of the squad.

I know we're making a net profit on Transfers but I'd be interested to know how much when you factor in the wages and signing on fees including agents
Weghorst Signed for 17.5 million euros -
Loan transfer To Besiktas No fee Suggested So did they just pay his wages???
Loan Fee Man Utd - 3 mil
Loan Fee Hoffenheim - 1.5 mil
Sold to Ajax 2.5 mil
loss 10 million Euros???

added to Weghorst, Tresor and Churlinov
Paying e4 mil Obafemi & Houtondji sent out on Loan, will still be our players but unlikely to sell for 4mil
So yes we're making a net profit on players in general but I still feel we pay too much for some and as I said the Nett profit ignores, Signing on fees, agents fees, wages, day to day expenses, interest on borrowed money to fund transfers and interest on money borrowed to cover interest on money borrowed. Moneys, the cut, paid to those doing the deals etc and lost revenue by not buying at a level to maintain premier league status

To add to the above:
As they weren't in our Premier League plans we should have made 10 million each on Zaroury and Benson, whilst their stock was high after the championship win
We paid a lot for Amduoni 18 mil Loan fee to Benfica 2 mil will we make that back
Lost a bit on Bastien plus your paying the wages all the while they're here and not playing
It's certainly not all good dealings IMO

It’s not as clear cut as buy player A for £ sell player A for ££. Buy player B for ££ sell player B for £.BleedingClaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:58 pmTo add to the above:

You pay a fee for a player you hope will perform. If they do that helps the team to be successful and the club to be successful. You look at Zaroury and Benson and think “they played a vital role in getting us to the PL and be the market for players like Odobert, Berge, O’Shea”. You also need a club to want to buy Zaroury and Benson.

I can't see that Palace are in such desperate need for a defender that they'd be willing to pay £15m for a player who will be free (compensation aside) in the summer.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I think on the whole our transfer dealings in the last decade have been excellent. From a net point of view we will be significantly in profit from our dealings over this period. I am not sure how many clubs who have spent a decent amount of time in the league will have a record as good as ours. There is no club I know of who has got it 100% right so you will always have transfers where you lose on.BleedingClaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:58 pmTo add to the above:

I know you reference wages and of course they are relevant but they are essentially part of operational costs. You cannot count them as part of our transfer dealings as if you did you could also start including the revenue that our “staff” has generated during this period as part of any true assessment.
Of course it’s not as linear as that and if a club does go down the route of bringing in a lot of players at relatively low transfer fees but ridiculously high wages then that’s probably not going to end well over the long term. I think generally we have had one of the lowest wage budgets in the premier league and managed to strike a good balance.
What I would say is that under the new owners one thing that is different and you could argue should be taken into account in assessing our transfer dealings is the way we have used factoring facilities. If bought a player for £10m and sold him for £20m which would be normally paid to us over say 3 or 4 years but decided to factor that debt at a cost of say £1m then I’d say that the profit on that transfer would be £9m not £10m. Whilst I’m making these numbers up we have used factoring facilities a lot and I’m unaware of a more expensive way of obtaining finance.
The other thing is when you have the turnover of players we have had in the last 2 or 3 years the agents fees are going to be significant.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I’m sure the club has offered him a new contract - and we might get an announcement about this. But you could not blame him for seeing his contract out….up until this season he’s barely kicked a ball for us and when he wasn’t being sent out on loan he wasn’t even making the bench.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:32 pmWe need C J tying down to a new contract and I am surprised this had not been a top priority given his outstanding form.
I know he’s only still young but when you see what he has offered this season and the way he distributes a ball, times a tackle etc then it’s pretty baffling given the way our defence performed last season that he did not get a look in under VK. He was picking Charlie Taylor at centre back before considering CJ.

Unfortunately we cannot force the pen into his hand. Maybe, on the advice of his agent, he wants to keep all options open. But Humphrys did cross the ball for a goal at Sheff Utd and another very important one at Deadwoodgandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 9:43 amWe need wing backs who are capable of overlapping. Humphreys offers nothing as a left back going forward, and pires seems to underlap a lot which may or may not be at the managers instruction. Roberts has a tendency to drift inside too. So in my opinion this should be the area. That and a striker.

I'd say we would have to be offering CJ mega bucks plus a big signing fee to sign right now. Not sure we could meet his expectations.
If he walks he will get a massive fee plus likely more wages
