Don't think you will see a more obvious penalty.

Article saying Ex Ref Keith Hackett didn’t think it was a pen as his silhouette wasn’t made bigger and he didn’t have time to get out of the road.As Nan would say “What a load of ****”

Absolute joke some of these refs are. He indicated straight away that it hit his chest so he must have seen it.

Re: Pompey non penalty commentary
The player doesn't doesn't particularly " unnaturally extend" his arms in this instance, but he clearly, deliberately uses both hands to bat the ball away. It's **** poor defending tbh, when he should and could have used his chest and it's definitely a penalty all day long!!

Hackett absolutely appalling comment on this, trying to get a ref out of jail. The defender put his hands up to stop it hitting him, like a womp at school! Then pushed the ball down, for God's sake!!!

His arms were in a natural position…. If he was wanting to grab it for a throw in. Him catching the ball really turned it into a penalty for me.

If he hadn't seen the incident then it would have been forgivable. But he saw it and chose to lie about it via the "hit the chest" mime he performed.
Cowardly and characterless. This ref will go far.

Re: Pompey non penalty commentary
Hackett essentially confirma that's a penalty without saying it is. Hes basically said there that the defender has got away with it and the ref maybe didn't see it.

Re: Pompey non penalty commentary
Wasn't there a UEFA directive from the start of last season that said if ball deflected off another part of his body, then hit his hand or arm it wasn't hand ball?
Which is what happened on Saturday.
The ruling followed some very soft penalties where it was ball to hand and VAR gave the pen.
I shall now retire to a safe place and don my tin hat.
