Signing Edward’s probably means foster is plan b and barnes is plan c doesn’t it ?agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 6:20 pmIf Foster or Flemming get injured, Ashley Barnes is our one and only Plan B.
Think about that for a moment.
Though I do agree we need a striker given plan A is not a centre forward, Plan B has been awful and Plan C is 73 years old.

He's played 2000 plus minutes this season. He seems to be a regular feature? I do wonder why West Brom are happy to see him go though.Selby Claret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 6:32 pmW Brom fans in meltdown on twitter at the prospect of Grant leaving

If Foster or Flemming get injured, Barnes is the only “goalscorer” on the bench. If both get injured, we’re ******.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Redmond played in a front 2 a fair bit for Saints in his final year there, and VK played him there on the odd occasions we saw him last season, played that lovely through ball to Jay Rod away at Bournemouth for the goal that got ruled out. Probably more someone you’d want playing off a main striker, though.

I had wondered previously whether Redmond would be a front 2 option for us rather than a wide player, hadn’t realised he had done it previously at SouthamptonRVclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 6:41 pmRedmond played in a front 2 a fair bit for Saints in his final year there, and VK played him there on the odd occasions we saw him last season, played that lovely through ball to Jay Rod away at Bournemouth for the goal that got ruled out. Hmm still no striker in yet and JayRod also having gone since my post on this . You still think getting no striker in after yet more 0-0 bore draws is a good move and letting Hountindji go out on loan before getting someon in was good planning and strategy.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 12:04 amNo, I don't see it that way because Hountondji doesn't look up to the standard we require.
A loan out was the best thing for him and the club.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Yep I posted this over 15 pages ago and only got one posters response and that criticised me when I suggested we shouldn't have loaned out Hountondji before getting someone in first and yet we still haven't got a striker in and then sold JayRod. Still doesn't seem sensible to me.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 6:40 pmIf Foster or Flemming get injured, Barnes is the only “goalscorer” on the bench. If both get injured, we’re ******.

We need to remember that Fleming can’t play in the last match of the season against Millwall so that leaves us with only Fister and Barnes

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Some Muscle and Aerial power desperately needed, we are no threat from the Crosses, Free Kicks and Corners all season, especially at home.
On top of a new striker, maybe we need to occasionally mix up the centre half's (Worrall in to mix it) to try to get the 3 points.
The current pairing are easily dominating teams with no attacking intent at the Turf and I applaud their record clean sheets, however, we do need to start scoring goals from the dead ball situations.

At this stage of the day, I wouldn't say £30m was enough either. Losing Esteve significantly weakens us.

£30m isn’t enough at this stage. Not having let Egan and Ekdal go. Can’t see this happening.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 7:09 pmSpurs bid £20m for Esteve. We’ve asked for £30m.

They offered £70mil for Guehi earlier today so they’re obviously desperate, make them pay way overvalue if they want him that much.

In these intolerant and racist times it's warming to see somebody using Martin's preferred pronouns. They is going to be very happy to know it.

Yeah, it’s a piece of **** buying a “top forward” in the last 3 hours of the window.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 7:20 pmGet 30m and buy another top forward seems like it’s best for everyone.
We’ve all played Football Manager.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
We currenlty have 3 fit CB's at the club. Of course we won't sell Esteve three hours before the window shuts.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Esteve is due another 18 months or so here - getting us up to the PL then another stab at the top flight, after that he can get his move to a top, top club.
Would be beyond stupid to sell now.
