AMSTERDAM - Ajax is counting on selling Jaydon Banel (20) and Benjamin Tahirovic (21) just before the end of the transfer market. The club reached a verbal agreement with Burnley and Brøndby on the sale of the attacker and midfielder.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 8:25 pmWe’re finally signing Banel from Ajax for €1m.

Brøndby will pay 2.75 million euros for Tahirovic, an amount that could increase to 3.75 million euros through bonuses. Banel earns Ajax 1 million euros. Ajax also negotiated a resale percentage with Burnley. Lawyers are busy finalizing the paperwork.
- Benjamin Tahirovic

Funny window at the minute this. Edwards feels like very much the sort of signing we wanted and needed, and we've added a bit of depth elsewhere, but right now we seem to be unexpectedly a bit short at centre half/left back and still short of a centre forward. It'd be surprising if we rectified both of them in the time available this evening.

Yes your right , I've been many times, I was thinking RAF Northolt which handles lots of executive jets.

100% agree on the striker.claretspice wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 8:38 pmFunny window at the minute this. In terms of left back and centre half not sure we are short.
We have Humphreys and Pires at left back - neither of which have been injured this season so far. If we were to lose both then we know Roberts can fill in and we now have cover for right back too. We seemed far more exposed in the full back positions last year.
Centre back we have 4 senior players who can play there if you include Humphreys.
Up front I think we need at least one player or possibly 2 !
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Do we really need more than 4 centre backs for 2 positions with 16 league games left to go. Hopefully we never have to find out but I could see Laurent being able to cover in there if desperate. He's got the stature for it anyway.claretspice wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 8:38 pmFunny window at the minute this. Signing Ashley Barnes for the vibes and lolz as the only striker is pretty crap isn’t it.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Jaydon Banel is a right footed left winger which is a strange choice of transfer given our current need for a striker, still at least its another incoming.

Last season people were moaning that we didn't retain Barnes for the Premier League. This year people are moaning that he's our 3rd choice striker in the Championship.

He can’t start in both positions in the same game I agree !!randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:01 pmSeem to be double counting Humphreys there. We either have 4 Centre Backs or 2 Left Backs
I meant that if things went really pear shaped injury wise or suspensions Humphreys could easily play centre half and he would still be one of the best in this league…..and Pires or even Roberts could play left back.
Point is we seem pretty well covered across the defence and a couple of the players have experience in covering other positions in defence.

There’s a difference coming off the back of a promotion than signing someone who hadnt featured much for Norwich for 12 months

It may be that Tresor leaving creates the space for a striker to come in. If that's the logic then fair enough, but it's getting late in the day.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
One time I’ll agree with 007, even after signing Edwards, we are missing a striker so not signing one would still be a disappointing end to the windowlouieollie wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:11 pmWe get Marcus Edwards and it's a " bit of a disappointing window" ............it's just relentless isn't it!

Shouldn’t be one in January. Buy in the summer and stick with what you’ve got. A player shouldn't be allowed to play for more than 1 team a season.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:16 pmIsn't the transfer window a pure shyte idea.

Koleosho and Sarmiento and Tresor all could be shifted on this window and if Edward’s is half as good as he used to be then I’m sure he’ll create more chances than those three put together.burnley007 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:18 pmAs stated, you may well be happy with 1 signing when we are utterly hopeless in front of goal, but I don't think most will be impressed.

It's one player more than Leeds to date and they are in dire need of a striker or two, plus we've by all accounts in Edwards signed an even better player than Le Fee! So hardly disappointing unless it's quantity over quality some are after

Ipswich have just signed a keeper. The replies to the tweet in relation to how poor Muric has been are quite amusing.
