i like it when players reach the end of their career at the club where it all started. Think Robben did the same with Groningen.

He’s only had three League One starts this season for Bolton. He’s 36 now.

Good on you Super Scotty, I remember his debut for us at York in a cup game, sat near his family, still lives in Glasgow, so great all round for him and his family.

Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
Same, it’s a nice book end to a footballing career. Rooney to Everton and Lallana and Walcott to Southampton spring to mind more recently.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 1:21 pmi like it when players reach the end of their career at the club where it all started. Seems to happen at lower league clubs more often with Charlie Austin to Swindon being a stand out of previous Clarets.
Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
Great memories of Sir Scott. I'll always remember his winner close to the end of the game at home to Everton in 2016 and him running down the touchline in front of the Longside celebrating.

Pleased to see Scott has re-signed for Falkirk, the club where it all began, for him

As I am in Stirling, more often than not, I must try and align the stars and go and see him. Then I can chant, "You'll always be a Claret".
Good luck Scotty.

Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
When I stayed in Stirling last year I had a choice of watching either Stirling and Falkirk. As Stirling were away I went to watch Falkirk who beat Hearts in a Cup Match. I adopted the Bairns as my team and have been wishing them well in their quest to win the Scottish Championship. They've been top for months now and Scotty joining them will hopefully get them over the lineIanMcL wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 1:52 pmPleased to see Scott has re-signed for Falkirk, the club where it all began, for him

Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
The Bairns have always been my second club (my Grandad signed for Burnley from Falkirk). I’ve always felt they’re a lot like Burnley- a club with great history but they have endured some tough times over the years.
I’d have loved it if our owners had adopted Falkirk as our Scottish partners rather than Dundee

A few weeks before that he played as a trialist in a friendly at Morecambe. One former prominent member of the message board posted that if players such as Scott Arfield were the level of our ambition then we were going nowhere.durhamclaret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 1:24 pmGood on you Super Scotty, I remember his debut for us at York in a cup game, sat near his family, still lives in Glasgow, so great all round for him and his family.
He was very wrong. Five years he was with us and he didn’t owe us anything when he left. Scott was one of a group of players that Sean Dyche definitely got one hell of a tune out of.

I have only watched Stirling twice, so far. Matches usually clash or it is pouring with rain! Must definitely try and see Scotty.

Yes, but you were preoccupied with Madge. A Travelodge at a Service Station. Loved the Falkirk Wheel and the match day experience. I think the ground holds around 7,000.
I'll bear your Air B&B in mind

Good luck Scott, unfortunately didn't work out at Bolton and some lads i know asked me what he brought to our side i said as a free transfer he was really good just like Michael Duff but time probably caught up with him now ...
Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
Ha! My barn is 1.4 miles away from the services. You probably were waving! Falkirk Wheel is really impressive. The Kelpies wondrous. Stirling Castle is the best in Scotland to visit. Much more going on than Edinburgh Castle, which is still military.

I had a most marvellous 3 hours experiencing the wonders of Stirling Castle. I couldn't get packed up for the Kelpies and didn't want to miss the football match. The barn sounds impressive

A classic Sean Dyche signing, rejected from Huddersfield and one of the most important players that we had for many years. Pope, Gudmondson, Boyd, Jones etc etc etc
Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
Just had a look. Earliest possible match for me is 19th April! So many clashes with the Clarets.

Brilliant area. And these little (or really rather enormous) creatures overlook the ground.
The Kelpies are truly fantastic.

Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
Best wishes, Scott Arfield.
Many of us know why Scott Arfield wore #37 shirt at Burnley - in memory of his mate who wore #37 at Falkirk and died, age 17, in an accident. Falkirk retired #37 in the young lad's memory. Scott Arfield will wear #37, again, while he's at Falkirk. The #37 shirt will be retired again when Scott Arfield is no longer on the playing staff at Falkirk and Falkirk will retire the #37 shirt again. That's class.

My favourite player of the last decade or so. Fit the system so well, worked his arse off and scored some brilliant and important goals.
Hannibal actually reminds me of him a bit in terms of being a high energy midfielder who can play as a narrow winger. Just needs the goals!

Incredible. Well done Scotty. What a homecoming!
Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
So he scored 3 on his first match debut. Needs 7 next time, to cement his number 37 into legend.

Falkirk v Hamilton on BBC Scotland/Iplayer, 7.45
A Falkirk win will seal promotion and the title, a draw or defeat, and Livingston, who are at home to Partick, could well pip them.

Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
Falkirk have only picked up a point in their last 3 matches, conceding 6 goals. 5 of those after Arfield has been substituted around the 65-minute mark in those three games.

It’s odd that Scottish professional football allows artificial pitches, but English football doesn’t.
They can be a massive financial help to smaller clubs.

Re: Scott Arfield on the move again
I live reasonably close to Harrogate Town. They had to rip their artificial pitch up when the were promoted to the EFL a few years ago.
It seemed a real shame because the stadium went from being in use almost 7 days of the week to just being there for the men’s first team. Aside from being a source of income for Harrogate, it was a real community facility that disappeared overnight.
