Laurent 6
Foster 6 (looks low on confidence again)
Hannibal 6 (-1 for losing his head again and nearly getting himself sent off)

Foster 9 keeper made at least 2 if not 3 good saves from him. Ran hard and caused them some real problems.
Hannibal 8 was my MOM until the ref made that awful call that ended his night.
Flemming 5 I want to like him but I just don't see what he brings to the table. Would much rather start Bashley up top even at 35.

Cannot rate tonight as I didn’t attend due to watching Ben Elton in Stockport to remind myself what an old fart I am. Listed my tickets on the exchange only to see today they weren’t on sale with “unallocated” on my online account, which was annoying as it’s the 2nd time. Anyhow…..

But I did see live text, match reports and then the highlights just now.

Bar one poor finish, Foster seemed fantastic. Just leaving that thought here on seeing some (not all, some are fair) of the ratings.

Can't rate Traff so you give him a mark that is 'below par', make it make sense?

What did he do to be 'below par'?
Glad you made that point.
I thought that his positioning and distribution were very good this evening, and everything he needed to do he did well. Not his fault that they had no shots on target.

Can't believe the 5s and 6s Laurent is being given, took a hell of a knock 5 minutes into the 2nd half in a block tackle, and took him most of the half to run it off when he should have been subbed, just hope he's OK for next Wednesday.

Foster and Anthony were opposites 1st and 2nd half, so can understand your 7 for foster, but was immense 2nd half. And I agree get him up top, he'll get the goals, and sarmiento rubbish yet again.

In fairness to Sarmiento, I wondered if he was working under strict orders not to get caught too far forward, he seemed reluctant to follow Foster as he raided down the left.

Unfortunately we're not allowed to vote for Shelvey. His pass down the right was brilliant, excellent technique, a long ball forward, such a concept  If it was any other player on the ball he would have passed it to Esteve who would have passed it back to Trafford

Well we can't complain about lack of intent or about us not playing on the front foot because we went at Oxford and created a hat full of chances. Obviously the issue was then not being clinical enough and sticking them away and I was nervous right up to the final whistle thinking we're bound to pay for our wastefulness. Tbf, their keeper made some very good saves, but we still should have won at a canter. Cullen just shaded MOM from the excellent Hannibal who was superb until his unfortunate booking and was then rightly hooked. We haven't had enough performances like that at home against the mid table mediocrity or we'd have been 8 or 9 points clear and when we have performed like that, it's always been in isolation and not been followed up. We'll see what we can produce against a struggling Hull side next week and pray it's more of the same.

Trafford - 6 - Hard to mark someone who had so little to do.
Roberts - 6 - Got forward a bit more last night in his old inverted full back role and largely steady.
Humphrey - 6 - Solid enough.
Esteve - 8 - His usual imperious self, but with the odd slightly ropey clearance thrown in.
Egan-Riley - 9 - Genuinely brilliant. Not only a good defender, but arguably the best long passer at the club. I don’t know if he has the pace for Premier League, but at worst he’ll be a very top end Championship player.
Cullen - 7 - Kept us up ticking over and did well for the goal.
Laurent - 5 - Thought he struggled to impose himself on the game.
Hannibal - 6 - Performed his role well enough, but forced Parker to sub him by losing his head again.
Anthony - 6 - Starting brightly and fading badly seems to be his MO at home.
Foster - 7 - Our most potent attacking threat all night. Lovely ball to Cullen for the goal.
Flemming - 4 - Missed two glorious chances and then pretty much disappeared.

Trafford- 6. Didn’t have to do any more so can’t rate any higher.

Roberts- 7. Picked up some clever positions in the first half. Thought he got away with one when he took their lad out on halfway.
CJ- 9. Never looks in trouble and plods forward with a bit of intent. Left footed switch in the first half was something else too.
Esteve- 8. Never in trouble. Big switches were a bit off.
Humphreys- 7. Steady away

Cullen- 9*. Ran the show.
Laurent- 7. Gets through some running and makes some good runs.
Hannibal- 8. Excellent. Only booked because of his name.

Anthony- 6. Still gives it away too much for me.
Flemming- 5. Poor last night.
Foster- 7. Other than the sitter he missed, probably his best game for a while. Needs to drive at the full back a bit more.

Sarmiento- 3. Lazy. Doesn’t look interested and gives us nothing when we go forward because he just gives it away all the time.

Trafford 6 - nothing to do really
Roberts 7
Humphreys 7
Cj 7
Esteve 8

Cullen 8 mom
Laurent 6 (.5) drives really well with the ball, but his passing under pressure / in tight spaces does let him down we need more thrust and more real goal threat from him.
Hannibal 8

Anthony 6 (.5) wonderful first touch and really good first half, much quieter second half
Foster 7 (.5) should have scored first half, but drove forward outwide and caused them problems, did well for the Laurent chance and goal first half.

Flemming 5 unlucky with one chance with the keeper making a good recovery save (as hit clean and needed to take it early) but too slow to react in the box on others.

Trafford 7 - not much to do
Roberts 7 - reliable and picks up some good positions going forward
Egan-Riley 8 - a fantastic surge forward and great passing range
Esteve 8 - unflappable
Humpreys 8 - he is deceptively good when dealing with dangerous wingers
Cullen 8 - made some great runs forward and his work rate was excellent
Laurent 7 - he seemed to pick up a knock in the second half which affected him
Hannibal 7 -his temperament is still an issue and opposition players target him because of it)
Anthony 7 - some great work but inconsistent
Flemming 6 - been a big fan but last night he needed to be sharper in the box
Foster 7 - some good work when given space. Forced a couple of good (but expected saves) missed a big chance.

From Live TV.

Trafford - 6 - Little to do but faultless.

Roberts - 7 - Did both defensive and attacking duties well.

Egan-Riley - 7 - Largely untroubled defensively and a sweeping attacking run leading to, of course, a shot off target.

Esteve - 7 - Also untroubled and very solid defensively. Nothing else though. Showed a real reluctance to do anything other then short passing.

Humphreys - 5 - Struggled at times with Placheta but helped a bit in attack.

Hannibal - 7 - Good performance at both ends of the pitch. Certainly a better choice to replace Brownhill then Sarmiento. Unfortunately lost it again and had to be subbed (I assume that was the reason). Yes he was caught on the leg but that is part of football. What would Anthony do in that situation - just get on with it. When will he learn.

Cullen - 8 MoM - Kept us moving, defending and more from him in attack, including the goal.

Laurent - 6 - Defended and moved forward well and was a goal threat but never a goal scorer. His limitations showed again - slightly misdirected passes, slightly too strong a touch etc..

Foster - 6 - First half mediocre although he did some good things including his part in the goal but missed a glorious chance. Second half more lively, good shot.

Flemming - 5 - Missed that early chance which a moderate forward would bury. Set up Foster nicely for his missed shot and did little else. However, often, if he does get the ball he is surrounded by three defenders and has no options to pass.

Anthony - 6 - Good first half but anonymous second.

Helick - 10 - MoM - Scored the winner and the only player on the pitch who seemed able to actually score a goal.

Subs. None on long enough.

Sarmiento - Quite lively at times. Got through but predictably poor effort straight at the keeper.

Barnes - Not much time to do much but has the strength to do more then Flemming. Again, why not on earlier to see what he could do? It could be no worse then Flemming.

Shelby - Not a substitute to affect the match but one sweeping pass that showed what he might offer.

It wasn’t a bad game entertainment wise and we got three points.

Oxford were mediocre at best and had only one good chance which should really have been a goal. We created a few chances but our weakness was that no-one was able to put them away and no-one ever looked likely to do so. It was back to the flukey home wins of Plymouth, Portsmouth and Swansea.

If Benson isn’t considered up to it then we look really short of options on the bench. Let’s hope this new lad Edwards will give something different otherwise what we got last might is what we will have at Turf Moor for the rest of this season.

We got lucky at home yet again. Maybe it’s not a coincidence.

Trafford 6 nowt to do though quick distribution
Roberts 6 little to do but keen
Esteve 7 again quiet game but strong when needed
CJ ER - 7 very solid and looked to get forward
Humphreys 7 as CJ though way better than Pires
Cullen 7 busy and very tidy
Laurent 6 - ok though looks a bit lost at times , bad miss
Hannibal 7- harried well , but all to no end and usual booking , needs a shrink .
Anthony 7- a real threat early but sloppy too , faded
Foster 7- good game for the bear , though left alone and unmarked given a free run against a very weak side and really should have scored .
Fleming 5- probs should have bagged 1 of his 3 chances , though he’s no centre forward , just a handy champ player .

For such weak opposition we really could face had 5/6 goals on another night . Still very unbalanced upfront though Shelvey ,Edwards ,Benson may allow Fozzy to play as a no 9 and we could be a very different proposition indeed .

Pretty decent, really wish we'd gone for a second goal as Oxford offered nothing. Really hope with the additions of Shelvey and Edwards we will become more potent at home.

Thought Brannagan was superb for them, his long passing is something we could do with.

Trafford 7
Roberts 7
CJ 8
Steve 8 - Saved us a few times
Humphreys 6 - Got caught out a bit
Antony 5 - Not his night
Cullen 8 - A joy to watch
Laurent 5 - One of his worst games, not sure he is needed in games like this
Foster 6 - Hit and miss. If we are relying on him to get the goals up top when Edwards comes in we are in trouble
Hannibal 8 - Ref ruined his performance, was our best forward thinking player.
Flemming 5 - Just not seeing it with him sorry. Can't hold it up and doesn't make runs in behind

Sarmiento 6 - Did ok, unlucky with his shot

Trafford n/a just wasn't needed
Roberts 6 quiet, but solid
Egan-Riley 8 a real talent
Esteve 8 beautiful to watch
Humphreys 6 not great going forward
Cullen 8 we know he's good enough to control that area of the pitch on his own, just doesn't need Laurent there.
Laurent 4 very poor tonight. Should have been off at HT
Anthony 7 started really well, then drifted in and out
Hannibal 7 I thought he did ok, so much better than Sarmiento
Foster 7 a much much better performance from him
Flemming 5 terrible 1st half.

Sarmiento 4 he's such a disappointment
Thought last night that if the ref had been poor we might have been in trouble ,Cullen gets kicked in the air most games when he’s in the centre of the park and some of the recent dross refs have waved play on ,tonight’s ref seem to blow every time Cullen was fouled.

It’s laughable that people are rating Foster higher than Anthony. Talk about agenda’s. Anthony (along with Hannibal) ran the show until he ran out of gas around 70mins.

From tv
Trafford 7 thank God he is speeding up his distribution. How do you mark someone who didn’t really take part?
Roberts 8 thought he had a very good game last night, both defending and going forward.
CJ 7 a bit under employed
Esteve 8 he’s a class above
Humphreys 6 bit lost going forward
Anthony 6 he was a 9 in the first 20 minutes, then disappeared as usual
Cullen 7 consistent
Laurent 6 too lethargic, he doesn’t have enough pace to compete, though a decent player
Hannibal 7 he certainly brings energy and forward movement to the team, but I was on edge after his unfortunate yellow
Flemming 5 Mr Parker is starting to annoy me now by playing him as a back to goal target man
Foster 7 okay first half and should have scored. Second half, he was our best player by far. Please swap him and Flemming in their positions

Sarmiento 4 Parker’s automatic 70 min sub. Very rarely touches the ball but he did get a shot away. Shouldn’t be getting much game time in this squad

Three good points, albeit against a very poor team. First twenty five minutes we played well and could have been three nil up. We then fade away and become nil nil Burnley again. Parker needs to switch Foster and Flemming, Shelvey comes on in the 88th minute and makes the best forward pass from a Burnley player this season, he and Edwards must start against Southampton in the Cup. Scott is still too reluctant to change in his tactics and need to change things around.
