How many were actually on last night?
How many were actually on last night?
18187 given as the attendance but how many actually attended given the swathes of empty seats and a lack of away fans? Around 8000 maybe?

Possibly having three home night matches consecutively and foul weather - not to mention the Leeds game particularly have all taken their toll.

Does it matter? The beauty of season tickets sold by the club.

I’d have a guess at 13500 but who cares…. It’s served its purpose by giving a bit more fuel to the many people who enjoy a moan on here.

I thought about 15/16.
All tickets sold, including season tickets, whether they attended or not, are included in the official total.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
I couldnt make last night because of work and won't make next week either.
Only reason I'm not attending is more down to the fixture list organisers than the standard of football. No Saturday home games December - March (currently) is a joke.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
I think many fans found it was one to miss last night - probably less fashionable opposition combined with this being the 3rd evening match in quick succession and the rubbish damp winter weather had an effect last night. This was also combined with the lack of goals scored to some degree.
As for 8,000 - you can almost double that - must have had a job with Clarets in the sixties and seventies when the crowd used to laugh at the pa announced attendances.

I miss the days of the actual attendance, ie bums on seats being published. No point looking at the gates nowadays.

Someone posted 11,500 (or thereabouts) on one thread and it came across as based on fact rather than a guess but I didn't see any follow up with a source of this number.

One of the staff members told me that only 11900 attended the game last night , so 6k no shows

Thanks. And cheers to claret in craven for the kind comment. Nice to win first prize in something I guess.Pikehillclaret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 11:24 amOne of the staff members told me that only 11900 attended the game last night , so 6k no shows
This was curiosity above all. An observation bring large pockets of empty seats. Appearances can be deceptive.
Re: How many were actually on last night?
That is a shocking number tbf. They were the actual attendances we'd get regularly under Cotterill etcPikehillclaret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 11:24 amOne of the staff members told me that only 11900 attended the game last night , so 6k no shows
That's got to be concerning if we don't go up. Does that come into thinking regarding keeping Parker for another year at this level if we don't go up?

I would say just over 16,000. Only 418 away fans doesn't help.
Re: How many were actually on last night?
So, by that reckoning, another 10,044 people could have fit on Turf!Pikehillclaret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 11:24 amOne of the staff members told me that only 11900 attended the game last night , so 6k no shows
I know numbers were down last night, but it certainly wasn`t practically half empty (Or Full

there is no way there were only 11,900 on last night ... I remember what the turf looked like when we had those numbers and that wasnt near that last nightPikehillclaret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 11:24 amOne of the staff members told me that only 11900 attended the game last night , so 6k no shows

They need to stop this showing of all midweek games ASAP or it's going to be hugely detrimental in the long run in terms of attendances across the boardAlargeClaret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 2:59 pmPeople need to remember this was on tv ( as are ALL not Sat 3pm ko) , midweek against incredibly unappealing opposition on a dreadful night . Re: How many were actually on last night?
Purely for the timing aspect, if we had another season like this I'd have to reconsider my season ticket as I can be required to be away for work Mon-Fri at fairly short notice. I think I've already missed 4-5 games this season so far so it's making the point of having a season ticket economically redundant.
I know a few people around me travel from quite far away and have missed midweek games purely because of the late starts, I'm sure games being on TV won't help that either.

Looked seriously under populated on tv but JH is not shown so could be 12 or 16 k. I would be worried if I were AP

Don't know about last night but the actual number through the gate against Leeds was 17778.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
I wasn't there but you probably have to count around 2k corporate guests into your attendance. Apparently only half full for most games.
A Tuesday night rearranged game against Oxford would be a low showing you would think.
The first thing my lad said when putting the game on was that there was hardly anyone there.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
I know there is a very logical answer to this but I am struggling to come up with it, but under Kompany we never had this fixation with the crowd and how many didn't turn up.
Midweek actual attendees will be down for virtually every club with this stupid new TV deal, maybe it shows season tickets are too cheap if people buy them and only turn up sometimes but I don't imagine anyone wants them going up. This game was also quickly rescheduled after getting through the previous cup round. While football seems to want to cater for people sat at home more than those who go to games then this will be the end result
If upwards of 4000 haven't renewed then the club may have concerns but I don't imagine that will be the case.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
With the price of walk on tickets you'd have to miss about 10 games for it to make sense economically to get rid of the season ticket.Darthlaw wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 3:43 pmPurely for the timing aspect, if we had another season like this I'd have to reconsider my season ticket as I can be required to be away for work Mon-Fri at fairly short notice. I think there's a lot that are just buying them and then using them as and when they feel like these days, because being a walk on is so expensive.

Maybe with the stupid walk on prices people are buying season tickets even though they know they'll miss plenty of games?
And as long as people keep renewing season tickets i don't thibk Pace will be too concerned.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
Surely the most significant factor affecting last night's attendance (in addition to those mentioned) is that, contrary to usual practice, it was actually brought forward when it was "postponed" due to the cup?
I spoke to quite a few who weren't even aware that it had been brought forward, but also it was only changed on January 15th, giving people a relatively small period to change pre-existing arrangements.
My pre-existing commitment was a holiday, (so planned as to not miss any home games). As it happens I didn't miss the game as our flight back was yesterday afternoon. The two I sit with had pre-existing commitments though.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
It was always going to be one of the worst of the season with the terrible weather, opposition and midweek…plus the boring 0-0s. Whoever said 8,000 needs to give their head a serious wobble though.
It was a BIG difference from the previous two against Sunderland and Leeds though.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
No that was the total figure. Burnley count all the sold tickets in the attendance figure they announce - so they include all non attending season ticket holders.

Oxford would also have brought more had it stayed a weekend fixture. It’s quite a trek on a weeknight.

Easy to see how conspiracies/disinfo starts with some of the crap that has been blatantly made up and taken as gospel in this thread. Hell fire.
Re: How many were actually on last night?
This thread highlights how utterly farcical the gate announcements are. How difficult would it be to announce the actual turnstile clicks? The attendances have always been an interest to most supporters. They should publish the actual attendance or nothing at all.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
On a related tangent, the number of midweek games is a complete joke. My son hasn't been able to use his season ticket and attend a game since 1st Jan - that's 3 home consecutive home games missed. The next I'll be able to take him on is 8th March, meaning he'll have missed 5 consecutive midweek home games.
In fact, our last Saturday 3pm kick off at home was 21st December, leaving 77 days between Saturday 3pm kick offs at home. That's practically as long as the summer break between seasons.

Re: How many were actually on last night?
I missed again as I was working away in Derby and couldn't be bothered travelling there and back, might have done if I had been enjoying the recent midweek games.
As a side, I wonder if the club will start doing something about people that don't attend and don't resell their tickets on the exchange? I could be wrong but I'm sure I heard Man Utd do this if a season ticket isn't being used a lot? Could be getting my wires crossed.
