Billy Hamilton

Post by beddie » Tue Feb 04, 2025 10:53 pm

One of my all time favourite players and I couldn’t hear a word he said due to the appalling tannoy system, why didn’t anyone tell the announcer throughout his half time chit chat his microphone was faulty. Shocking to say the least.

Don’t think the speakers were working in yhe North Stand. Couldn’t hear a thing in the upper tier all night. Very poor.

The hardest trainer he'd ever seen according to Brian Miller. I was in the Longside during the match he mentioned against Newcastle. An old fella stood next to me said, "That centre forward is a passenger". Twenty minutes later Billy scored his first goal, a very good header, and he never looked back.

JHL, the speakers were obviously not working in our stand.

Billy Hamilton (along with Uwe) my favourite player. Wonderful to see him back at the turf last night, absolutely loved him playing for us. Was genuinely mad and upset when he was sold to Oxford. Still watch his WC exploits for Norn Iron on YouTube. I think that’s why even as a proud Englishman, I have a soft spot for the Iron.

I don't think the speakers were switched on in the Longside at all - what we were hearing was overspill from the systems in other stands, which is why you couldn't decipher it.

Perhaps someone forgot to flick a switch.

Mentioned it in the report - there were plusses and minuses - the minus was not being able to hear a word Billy said, the plus was it made the announcer just slightly more bearable.

I was on White Hart Lane when Billy and Graham Roberts with one of the best ogs I've seen destroyed Spurs in the Cup.Glenda Hoddle spent the game yelling at his team mates.I was working in Oxfordshire at the time was gutted when former non league Oxford stole Billy.

Which he even managed to do “mid link” whilst doing the Spot-On game when we came out for the second half

“And the closest to the centre LETS HEAR IT FOR BURNLEEEEEEEEEEE is Geoff”
