Re: Oxford Fan Review
An excellent, well-written report.
The author clearly likes our town and team notwithstanding the weather and takes defeat on the chin, unlike many supporters he is a realist. Thanks for writing, I enjoyed reading it.

Not about the team but the Turf and its surroundings, so often maligned by TV reporters looking for signs of poverty and disrepair.
No mention of the terraced houses, he encaspulates what Burnley FC is about, tradition and the centre of our community.

Re: Oxford Fan Review
Lovely write-up. No mention of the slop, hot online topic guff about 'entertainment' or 'boringness' etc. It all read like a supporter remarking on competition. No bias, no BS, no whining, just a straight account. I'd like Oxford to stay up after reading that. Warmed the cockles, it did.

Takes an outsider to point out what you've got sometimes. Cheap prices (except the Turf itself), local, traditional.. these are all good things, not to be embarrassed about.

Hear hear. We should definitely appreciate what we have. The latter part if that report summarises it brilliantly. Hope Oxford stay up now.

Re: Oxford Fan Review
Extremely enjoyable that. Interesting to see how an outsider views things and in this case someone who won't have visited in quite some time (if at all) due to the long gap since we were last in the same division.

Re: Oxford Fan Review
A really well written and honest report, it's amazing how an opposition fan sees things so differently to some of our own supporters. But then again, they are only little old Oxford, and we are a massive club that should be blowing away every team we play (sarcasm)

A good well written report.
Re: Oxford Fan Review
How nice for a fan of another club, a southern one at that, to point out those things we take for granted.
Burnley FC, the town and people are one.
Oh, and the beer is very good and cheap and the pies are perfect.
We are very lucky despite what some whinge on about.

Re: Oxford Fan Review
A perfect example of why a "local" football club should be for the fans - a part of the community.
The polar opposite of the direction teams such as Man Utd are travelling in.

Interesting that, quite a number of Oxford folk don't consider themselves as Southern.

Well that's fair enough but if Oxfords not in the South, where exactly is it given its about 70 miles south of Birmingham?
Not having a pop btw.

Re: Oxford Fan Review
Not just the town and the fans but noticeable how complimentary he is about the quality in the team and the gulf on show that far too many of (the entitled) fans do nothing but moan about. On so many levels we really do need to look at just what we've got right now and stop coming across as spoilt brats!. So refreshing to read and certainly makes you feel proud.

Cracking article,by an unbiased away fan,who praises our town and football club to the hilt!
A really enjoyable read.Come to think of it,I think he gave us a very good report at the Kassam stadium!
I also hope that they stay up,so that I can return next season and actually watch all the match, after the last fiasco we had there!

I used be a fairly regular visitor to the manor ground when I lived there in the 90s, and always look out for their results. Where they are now is one of the worst of many examples of how moving to a new site can be disastrous. As others have said, sometimes takes someone else’s perspective to help you appreciate what you’ve got!

Good article, thanks for sharing. I think I saw the author and his group in the Bridge before the game, they seemed like a really nice bunch and as the article alludes to, very complimentary about the town. Makes a nice change.

Re: Oxford Fan Review
Great read.
Oxford are an interesting club. Currently trying to get planning permission and funding in place for a £150m absolute state of the art stadium, trading off the global reputation of the city.
A far cry from the Manor Ground but you can see how it could potentially work and take them to another level. Either way they’ve got to get out of the Kassam due to the lease. Good luck to them I say.

Enjoyed that. A club with working class roots that contradict the stuffy university perception most of us (wrongly) have of the town. I’ve spent a lot of time in Oxford, and enjoy it. Doesn’t surprise me they appreciate (and envy) what we have at Burnley.

Yes, that's about it. Oxford, Bedford, Cambridge are all in a twilight zone. North starts when you get to Sheffield. Oxford is, maybe, the start of Central. There's a big area inside the M25, which I'd happily replace with green belt.

As have a few other clubs who are usually recognised as 'southern' teams.
I presume they are in the North division to make up the numbers as there are fewer 'northern' based clubs at that level of the pyrimid?
