Re: Who Would You Like
Worst? The possibility of having to play 2 extra games - is that such a disaster? I suspect many of the first team have already recovered from today's "exertions" on the bench.John Johnson 1605 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:31 pmManchester City or Liverpool at home.
Give our fringe a run out and exit.
The worst situation is that we draw the weakest team, progress and are penalised by a schedule that doesn’t affect Leeds or Sheffield.

Absolutely it is. We are not going to win it.

Fear of failure is a bad argument for refusing to try.

Pragmatism and realism. We are not going to win the FA Cup. Promotion is the only aim.

I see your point, but we definitely deserve a home draw.

Re: Who Would You Like
Rovers have already 2 chances to end our unbeaten run against them this season.
We don't want to give them another opportunity this season.
On paper we win, but it's a one- off game and one team has to win.
A cup game against that lot would also be a major distraction from the league, and we would expect Parker to play our strongest team.
I can't understand anyone wanting us to draw them at this stage.

Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
Wolves away. Would mean Rovers got booted out and be the next level test for us.
Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
We must be due an home tie does anybody know how many consecutive FA Cup away games we have had?
Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
Gotta be Bournemouth or Brighton away to keep up with the long trips and south coast period. They would be a very good test.
Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
City away it's our time we will beat them.

Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
In the past few weeks in the league we have played Plymouth and Portsmouth away in the league, and today Southampton in the cup.
So what chance we draw another south coast club away in either Bournemouth or Brighton?

Bournemouth away in the next round, Brighton away in the quarters, we could bring out a "South Coast Punishment" highlights DVD for old time's sake.

2000 I think, in the Stan promotion season, we were winning 4-0 until they pulled back 3 late goals but we held on to a 4-3 win.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 8:21 pmI remember when they re-arranged the seating in the CFS, what year was that?

Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
No midweek game either side of it, unless they shove the Cardiff game there. Has to help.
Getting to the point when the cup needs taking seriously, 2 wins off Wembley and 4 wins off Europe (Parker wouldn’t want that distraction but we would of course and if you don’t want to win the cup as a club what is the point of existing?).
I like Man Utd away - huge away end, shambolic home team, no shame to lose and would be an injection of promotion boosting confidence if we win.

Cardiff or Preston at home but otherwise away. Let’s try and progress further. Chances are it’ll be a PL club away though.

Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
With the constant references on this forum re the opinions of some Bournemouth and Fulham fans regarding Scott Parker it will probably be one of those two teams in the next round. Whoever it is hoping for a home draw.
Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
Fulham at home would be ok with their record at Turf Moor. Was it 1951 the last time they won there? We have played them quite a lot as well.

Wouldn't mind Plymouth away on a weekend this time.
Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea all out. Opens it up a bit. Shame Man City got away with a win.

Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
Fulham away wouldnt be bad either- easy trip for me and I always enjoy a visit there + would like a view of their new stand on the Thames-side (not that I could afford to go in there).
Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
One of the bigger PL teams away
Need to reduce the possibility of going to Wembley 3 times in 4 weeks
My bank balance couldn't cope

Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
Somebody mentioned we'd been drawn away consecutively quite a few times in the cup - what's the number? We're surely due a home game.
Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
You have to pay to listen to Celine dion?
The man u away scenario given above is reasonably argued. They might be a bit worried about giving man u another dodgy decision next time too, just in case anybody notices.....

Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
21st April 1951 ... Sweets, Sugar, Coal and Meat were still rationed, Attlee was Prime Minister, New Brighton were still in the Football League and Fulham won 0-2 at Turf Moor in a Division 1 fixture ... Since then, Fulham have travelled to the Turf on 33 occasions, 28 League games and 5 in either the FA or League Cups ...
Their record reads Won 0, Drawn 8, Lost 25 ... the one comment I would make is that all runs come to an end eventually !

Commy is right, 1951

You were perhaps thinking of the long undefeated home record against Villa?

Re: FA Cup 5th Round Draw Thread
I make it 8 successive Away draws ...
Mar. 2023 FA Cup Manchester City
Aug. 2023 EFL Cup Nottingham Forest
Sept. 2023 EFL Cup Salford
Nov. 2023 EFL Cup Everton
Jan. 2024 FA Cup Tottenham
Aug. 2024 EFL Cup Wolves
Jan. 2025 FA Cup Reading
Feb. 2025 FA Cup Southampton
I'm told the odds of this happening is 256/1 ... of course, taken in isolation, the odds of an away draw tomorrow is 50/50 !
