Superbowl LIX
I know there’s the NFL Competition thread, but the Superbowl deserves its own tonight.
Chiefs (again) for me. I’m not a Chiefs fan but have seen them a couple of times in the last view years during trips to the USA. The latest when they clinched the Division against the Chargers at Arrowhead. Thought the Chargers were the better team that night as well. I do think this will come down to turnovers, and think Hurts will give the ball up more than Mahomes. A long night ahead!

Chiefs by 7 I reckon. Hopefully the comms won’t be a night of what’s Taylor Swift doing now like last year was.

59, 61 would be LXI. If a smaller letter appears before a bigger one you take it away from the larger letter. So IX is 9, whereas XI is 11.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 6:24 pmYes, it translates to 61 with L=50, I = 1 and X =10. If you add them all together you get the number so 50+1+10 = 61
No idea why they number the Superbowls in Roman Numerals, but they do.

Real atmosphere brewing here,i think the Eagles will win. I support the Giants but think the Eagles will be to much for the Chiefs

Not a fan of either team, but hoping the Eagles can mix it up. I think it will be the Chiefs though, like Real Madrid in the CL, they just turn up for the big games and find a way to win.

I can't watch it live tonight, anyone know if there is a re-run at a certain time tomorrow without spoilers?

Couldn't do with the Chiefs winning three, they're annoying enough already.

One of my best mates is a Plymouth and Eagles fan, born in Plymouth spent a large part of his life living in the US in Philly. He's having a good day so far. Despite their record I've not been too impressed with Kansas this season but Mahomes is a different level to the rest. Too close to call

Have to put "Come on You Clarets" on hold for the evening as it's "Go Birds" all the way here - despite me having always been a New Orleans Saints fan. Expecting a loud and raucous night in the surrounding area if the Eagles win. Beers ready, snacks ready, and off to my son's house shortly to watch the game, and hope Clarets following the NFL enjoy the it.

Hi Wizard. I would love to go over the pond and see a few games across a weekend or two! How does one go about getting tickets? Any info or internet links would be most welcome. Thanks.claret wizard wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 6:16 pmI know there’s the NFL Competition thread, but the Superbowl deserves its own tonight.

Couldn't think of a more boring match up.

I’ve been to games at New York, Miami, LA and Orlando and always used Ticketmaster for them, never went wrong.

Nice, Milton. How far in advance are they usually on sale in general? Does it depend on the team or is there some sort of standard?Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 10:57 pmI’ve been to games at New York, Miami, LA and Orlando and always used Ticketmaster for them, never went wrong.

As with all things in the USA, throw enough money at it and the problem is solved. For high demand/sold out games then I tend to use Stubhub. You can access the Ireland site over here to purchase. Been to the 49ers, Chargers, Packers and Chiefs in the last few years.

Re: Superbowl LIX
That 4th and 2 play involved a familiar looking football kind of dive from the chiefs defender. He went straight down with a touch.

Sloppy opening quarter from KC, with the Eagles looking much stronger so far.

Mahomes looks more concerned in keeping his run of no interceptions rather than making the big plays. That low incomplete pass to Kelce on 3rd down a prime example.

Spags coming up trumps on 3rd down but man, KC really need to get their offense going.

No close ups of Taylor Swift is an upside of a KC drubbing.

This is going to need some turnaround in the 2nd half. The Eagles defense is all over KC.

I was going to say that but this is Mahomes. However I think the Eagles have the KC offensive lines number too and he's not even getting the protection.

Falcons Patriots was a radical turnaround. This Eagles side is far too drilled to let this slip though.

So with this punt it’ll mean the Eagles will have more first half points than the Chiefs have yards.
Re: Superbowl LIX
I'm speechless! Talk about not showing up. It's like watching Plymouth 0-5 Burnley at HT, but it's the FA Cup final and Plymouth have won the last 2 finals and are looking to be considered the best team ever in the competition! WTF!

Mahomes looks off it as well; I think his ankle is playing up. He looks anxious/frantic out there.
