To be fair they may not have happened in the parallel universe that Shaggy lives in.

Think the return of Gary Bowyer is more likely (one can dream).

Scratch that, if we are dreaming, Steve Kean has some unfinished business there!

They should now try to get England's longest serving manager on board. But would he want to drop down from the Boriugh even for half a million? Half a million at Lanehead? Imagine that!!!

Apparently he sees Derby as the better long term prospect. Now don’t we remember a certain Mr Coyle saying pretty much the same thing as he trotted off to Bolton? Not sure he is making the right move (if he does) but it is funny though.
On the other hand I really don’t want to see Dyche go there…I think he could turn them into (unfortunately) a pretty useful outfit. They have the players if they get the right manager alas.

Some decent options for them on that list. Allardyce, Martin, copper, karanka, O’Neil or even Neil Harris would make them a decent outfit.

Des Buckingham would be hilarious

The top candidate would have to be Rooney.

That statement from the trust perfectly highlights what sort of fanbase they are.

Basically if the club spent money in January then they would be ok with the Venkys, but if they don't spend then that will change. This is the issue with a bandwagon fanbase. Before the tax exile sugar daddy funded them they spent their time lower in the league than they are now with the memories of beating a school to win the FA Cup over 100 years ago to cling to. The were getting crowds of 4000-5000 while 2 divisions higher than we were. Then Walker arrived and they remembered where Ewood was.

They spent and spent unearned money and enjoyed their time (which they should) but they should have accepted when the money dries up and they have to fund their own existence it is a lot harder. They tell everyone about the amazing memories they have of their success (even those not old enough to have been there enjoyed it) yet seem to struggle with supporting the same club when things get a bit tough. They racially abuse their owners who have sunk over 200 million into the club and wonder why they don't hear much from them.

It comes as no shock that now out of the FA Cup and realising their league position was a false one then the boycott stuff resurfaces. Who can forget those p*ss funny moments like entering the ground late to show the world how hard done to they were. The vowed never to go back in the ground until the Venkys are gone yet if they draw Utd, Liverpool or play us in the league they forget their hollow words and flock back. They even opened an extra stand this season for our visit such was the giddyness that they might even get a draw.

Their manager leaving them for a club in danger while telling anyone that they are a big deal in English football should help even them understand that football is a sport that has ups and downs and now you are back to where you were before Walker arrived.

Sean won't go to Deadwood if offered .He's probably had his fill of dodgy owners at Everton. Also the compo he got from us and Everton has removed the need to jump at the first job offered.. I was surprised that Derby didn't see him as a good fit though.

Excellent post. It sums it up very well for me. Every club has a few entitled fans including us but there are some clubs that seem to have a larger percentage than most. Bastards and Leeds are the 2 worst clubs that I can think of who believe that they have a divine right to be better than they are.

Most Burnley fans that I know accept that Bolton, Blackburn, Preston and ourselves are all similar sized clubs with similar fan bases and similar history. I will have banter with fans from these clubs and even though we have been the dominant team for over a decade, most of us recognise that at some point the circle will turn and it will be another Lancashire team who rules the roost.

Blackburn will always be our biggest rivals no matter what league they are in. I can't ever imagine most fans saying our biggest rivals are Man Utd if even if we had a few years of success at the highest level. Yet in the mid 90's when they had a few successful years and we were either 1 or 2 divisions below them many of their fans openly voiced the belief that we were no longer their main rivals. It wasn't said in banter either. They genuinely believed it.

There are still some of their fans who believe they should be a Premier League club. They are completely deluded. As you say they are at the level they were before Walker arrived.

Any decent manager would get them in the playoffs and we may be their opponents; so let’s not laugh too loudly chaps. And if they get BFS maybe they could do us a favour in May by denying Utd 3 points

This.

They might be a basket case since Venkys. We’ve had/are in our best period for decades yet the gap is pretty small. We probably looking a little closer to the running of our own club tbh.

The bit about United was hilarious. I worked in Rochdale at that time so worked with a lot of United fans who p*ssed themselves at that statement. My boss was a massive Red and brought a United fanzine in just after and it was taking the mick out of Rovers and, to be fair, complimented us as the better club, saying that at least we fill the away end at OT, something Rovers apparently never did. They also laughed at the fact Rovers fans sold their tickets to United fans for games at Ewood. To be honest most United fans I’ve known do seem to have a bit of affection for Burnley. Rarely heard any bad comments, which cannot be said about Rovers because of their sheer arrogance after Jackpot Jacks money arrived.

We all know our fortunes could turn in any given season, that's just football, but if we aren't enjoying the ride whilst we are on top, then what is the point. I'm going to continue to milk as much enjoyment out of this period of success as I can.

No chance they finish above Boro and WBA this season for me. They are skint, and can't fend off a club in the relegation zone poaching their manager, so hardly going to be attracting a Cooper or Dyche level manager.

Most amusing comment I have seen was someone suggesting Dave Challinor as their next manager. I knew the name but not where he was manager but the reply from another one of theirs saying "he wouldn't leave Stockport for us" was a far great level of ridicule than I could have replied with :D

Stockport :D Not long ago they convinced themselves they were rivals to Man Utd now they can't compete with Stockport

Manager off to the relegation zone from the playoffs  this is fantastic and shows just what a s*** show they are.

I had the pleasure of working with a bunch of b@stards in the 00's and I have to say if anyone deserved the venkys it was them

Lets hope they end up propping up division 2

6 points in 6 games and Boro are still below them. West Brom have just crept above them. The chasing pack are as bad as them.

Journeyman manager having taken roles in Sweden, America, Thailand, Greece and India. Recently left Indian side Kerala Blasters in December, no idea if they have any Venky connection.

10 games managed in the Indian League, 6 defeats. He'll fit in well.
I'd be happy with him.

(at Ewood I mean..obviously)

Has anyone seen john eustace down at brockhall lately ? Thought not, it seems he's missing in action ...

In other news, apparently the shadsworth supporters club are having a whip round to buy out the nasty venkys, it's rumoured they've raised about £12-50 so far, so are a bit short of reported 200m the chicken farmers are looking to recoup (see what I did there).

A few of them have been spotted wandering aimlessly around the delightful lower Darwen area, with a bewildered look on their gormless faces mumbling about "how unfurrrr it is" and "we want our roverrrrrrs back" and other similar mutterings.

Anyway, where's super fan hutchy when you need him to give us the latest update on things t'roverrrrs, then we can have a reight good larffff.

Come on Derby get it confirmed so Rooney knows what he's doing this weekend.

They were not permitted to name the club believe it or not even though everyone knew.

There's no way bstards will ever say the word derby as it sends a shiver down their collective spines as the memories of how we humiliate them come flooding back.

Deeney just been talking about this on Talksport having spoken to Eustace. His take…

- JE was promised X amount of funds for the squad if he kept them up last year and this hasn’t materialised.
- they have had 3 DOF’s which has made planning recruitment difficult.
- JE was happy to stay, has 18 months left and asked to negotiate a new contract but was told no.
- They have 10 soon to be out of contract players who they also aren’t negotiating terms with.
- Derby willing to commit to a longer term contract & squad plan.

Troy also made a point of saying the facilities are awful, training ground is falling apart & they need a lot of investment in all areas (which isn’t forthcoming).

Yes Troy is going to defend his mate but it’s also hard to disagree with any of it. If JE keeps Derby up this season it’s not unreasonable to say the 2 clubs could switch places next season.
