Aye but it was a classic defensive battle. Can’t understand why Harry Smith didn’t go for the drop both late in game and on Wigans only possession in ET.
I loved it.

A great game to watch. Hope they are all as close as that. Well played Leigh on a great win. Bet you could have got massive odds on it being 0-0 at full time.

Why is a draw not a fair result anymore? I hate golden point. How long have they had it in super league?

Michael Buffer was there pre match as well

Doesn’t sound like there was much rumbling then

It was a brilliant game…. Incredible defensive commitment and discipline from both teams. Leigh’s new Australian full-back, Armstrong, was particularly good I thought. Looks too slight to be a RL player but he was brave and error-free all night.
It’s the first 0-0 of the Super League era . The Golden Point is a great way to win, and great to see Leigh pop the drop goal over, but a horrible way to lose after all the effort to claim a draw. I’d prefer to drop this and just give each team a point.
I’d take a 1-0 win in added time on Saturday !

I'm not a Rugby League follower, but if the game was a score draw (eg 12-12) would there still be ET with a golden point?

Even a Scottie Parker team would score with no goalkeeper to beat :D

Golden point as been in the NRL for 20 odd years now. A lot of fans & ex players, even some current coaches, Wayne Bennett especially don’t like it.
It’s become a tedious drop goal a-thon. Also, the referees tend to stick their whistles in their pockets. A penalty is very very rare, also the six agains go awol.
I just don’t like it. If you’ve earned a draw. Share the points.
Although in saying that, it’s an interesting one I read about the championship. They get a point each for a draw, and the golden point winner gets an extra point. I think I like that idea.

So is this a new change for this season that there can be no draws or is it just for 0-0's?

How awful. It's not as though teams play for draws in RL unlike in football but sometimes they just happen and both teams therefore deserve a point. What's wrong with that. The games gone IMO.

What a great game though,it's not always about scoring loads of points. Two good sides going hammer and tongue at each other last night with a great defensive show off both teams.

Also I do agree with a point for each team at the end of 90 mins and then a point for the 5min golden point 👍

Yes… the last ten minutes was mega-dramatic. Felt sorry for the Castleford lad who conceded the penalty which enabled HKR to get up the field and drop the goal. He was unlucky as there was no deliberate malice in his tackle. In fact felt sorry for Castleford full stop given they were massive underdogs but performed so well.
