I wasn't there so can't score him, but he was a shocker of a ref, as bad as I've seen in many a year.

I’m watching on tv, but he was worse than he was earlier in the season, and I didn’t think that was possible.

I wasn’t there either as away for the weekend. Watched it in a bar. This ref struck me as someone who definitely has NEVER played football at any level, this sausage has been a ref from birth. An “all about me” kind of guy. Also had a weird alien shaped head so that made me uncomfortable from the off. I’ve had a few sherbets but can anyone tell me why so many refs are bald/balding/short/a combination? Apologies to any short and/or balding men, I know you’re not all wronguns and it’s bad to generalise…soz!

Watched on TV
The Burnley penalty claim looked spot on
VAR would however have agreed with the decision of player touched the ball and cornet was correct decision
The abuse given to Hanibal will come out after investigation and the referee could do no more at the time
The Preston thug will get a very long ban
Burnley should have won the match but missed 3 or 4 excellent chances

I'm not convinced it was a penalty and my gut instinct is he got this call right. Think Edwards was looking for it.

I’m not convinced it was a penalty, for what it’s worth. Need to see it back. Regardless, woeful refereeing. If I put in a performance like that in my job I’d be sacked by lunch.

He should be in the kitchen because he’s probably a better cook than he is a referee.

How their number 10 didn’t get booked for the constant shirt pulls only he knows
And the free kick against Anthony in the corner at the end was ridiculous when the lino was right in front of it and didn’t even flinch his flag

For far more reasons than not giving the penalty. So many incidents - the guy has clearly never kicked a ball in his life at any level. The non booking of 10 at least once summed up a shocker of a performance. Only 6 minutes added - the Hannibal
Incident took most of that time up, substitutions and no attempt to stop their time wasting surely puts that up to nearer 10!

He's a spineless sh!t of a ref that's why he is readily and consistently taken advantage of early on in games because it's a trait that won't go unnoticed when teams seek to gain any advantage they can.

A prime example was the Preston midfielder made 4 fouls in quick succession, at least one of which was a booking yet he remained uncarded!

Hard to tell for RTR whether he spotted the accidental touch from the defender that meant it wasn’t a penalty, or if he bottled it. I suspect with this ref it was the latter.

Tugs on shirts to stop us breaking are professional fouls, yellow cards. They usually went without even a free kick. The obvious penalty was the clear as day short pull on Flemming on a corner but they're allowed to ignore those without scrutiny apparently. The guy was a total Homer and had zero control of the game. Preston were allowed to niggle and get away with it in so many different ways.

Terrible.
Every contact he had to blow his whistle, foul or nay.
For the pen the Nobender did touch the ball but he also brought down Edwards. In the PL now players get sent off after playing the ball and catching the player in follow through.
Poor view from tv but I couldn’t fathom his FK against Laurent, late on, where Laurent appeared to play the ball against the defender trying to get a corner. The ball didn’t go out of play but we had them in the corner until he blew.

Seen the non penalty from various angles and am struggling to see where the PNE player plays the ball before Edwards. It certainly looks like Edwards pushed the ball toward and the defender simply goes through him well after the ball had gone.

Edwards dinking the ball into the defenders leg would have kept the ball closer to Edwards if anything but he got cleaned out

Horrendous ref as was the linesman on dugouts side. There was one in the corner right at the end where their player went down holding his face and somehow he came to the conclusion it was a free kick despite a number of players blocking his view and the linesman not even raising his flag.

Somehow worse than his performance at Blackburn.
I said after an earlier performance this season he’d be in the Premier League soon because the people in charge love these kind of refs.

Who watched his performance at Ewood and thought it would be a good ideas to give him another derby?

He was poor from every possible point of view. But to think he favoured us is laughable. I can remember 2 incidents where I thought he got it wrong in our favour - a free kick not given in front of the dugouts on half way (I think he played advantage and it ended up with their keeper), and a throw in in 2nd half in their RB corner

Other than that, I thought he let them get away with an absolute shed load. Flemming fouled which meant he ended up falling backwards raising his foot and getting a yellow. Their 16 diving in his own box after managing to run about 5 strides after the contact, then falling when he realised he'd conceded a corner. 2 or 3 times kicking the ball away. 4 or 5 deliberate fouls in the centre of the pitch with no yellow. Countless fouls on Flemming from every ball up to him. A blatant foul on Cullen outside their box 1st half. Foster absolutely taken out by someone launching himself into him on half way when the ball was long gone. Making up a foul in the corner by Laurent at the end. Numerous throw in delfections in their favour. And then time wasting at the end

A spineless "ref" who would be sacked from any other job based on his performances. Yet is clearly heading to the top somehow

The linesman couldn't have been more than 5 yards away, ref on edge the box through a crowd of players gave it Preston! Joke

My six year old couldnt comprehend how the shirt pulling went unpunished throughout, how did this professional let it go all match. Truth be told I was not surprised PNE continued to do it bwcause it was clear that he wasn't going to card them.

Very very poor, whether a penalty or not, his handling of the game was laughable.

Constant shirt pulling went unpunished. And how he got only 6 mins of additional time is beyond me The Hannibal incident must have taken 6 minutes alone.

Couple of glaring omissions so far.

His biggest influence on the first 5 minutes of the game was to disrupt our two most promising phases unnecessarily, at least once by being in the way.

The blatant shirt pull on Flemming from a corner was a penalty all day long. That's being overlooked because they usually are in those cases but it's no less a clear infringement in the box and ought to be punished.

He was chronic.

The standard of refereeing in this country seems to be getting worse and worse. Like Backhouse against Sunderland, this was up there with one of the worst refereeing performances of the last 10 years. Utterly rancid.

I have a question and I know I may have claret gasses on , but over the last few games Sunderland at home onwards Ive seen teams set about us a lot more leaving ''something on them type'' and a lot more shirt pulls . Ive then seen on ref watch where they are saying '' yes he did hold him pull his shirt but not enough to put the offended player off'' then they say when you are moving at speed even a slight touch can make you go down.
So back to my question how long is a shirt pull or holding back allowed and have the referees been told to not book for shirt pulls , holding unless in their opinion it was a professional foul , and not to apply the FA rules as seemed to be being applied at the beginning off the season ?

And I agree he was crap

To his credit he obviously decided tat it was a local Derby and that he would let things go more than normal. However, it appeared to be only let go for the home team with lesser deeds by us immediately penalised - even when nothing actually happened.

Then it was a case of not making decisions, as a habit. Penalty? Not sure. Taylor was looking for the contact, without doubt.

I don't think I have heard, 'You're not fit to referee' so many times in one match

Disgrace.

Added time? About half of what it should have been and he was a joke with their time wasting.
