Lol at "howls of derision". It's been apathy for a while now.
Leeds are the better team and will finish top. Burnley will still need to win more games than they have been doing to finish 2nd.

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Just caught up, at first glance I am seeing that 5 subs from the 70th minute won them the game, whereas we chose to make only 2 against PNE which is a pattern.
The brave tend to win promotions. I fear we won’t be one of them. Leeds will.

The pundits love building up Sunderland looking at their next 6 fixtures saying they are all winnable. They recently dropped home points against Watford and Plymouth!
Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Wouldn't surprise me if this has pretty much ended Sunderland's season, including any hope of promotion via the play-offs.
Basically down to three teams now.

I agree with this......Hope Leeds give Sheff a tubbing next Monday.dougcollins wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:07 pmThis gives clarity now.
Let Leeds continue to win, we just have one target - to overhaul Sheff Utd.
Sunderland won't get past us.

What the hell does this mean? How can tonight have ended Sunderland’s hopes of promotion via the play-offs?

Think they still have a good chance in playoffs but one thing I will say is that starting eleven is starting to look leggy as hell

Sunderland are a good side
The 2 crosses for the Leeds goals were undefendable

I suppose most Clarets would wish for Leeds to beat Sheff. Utd
next Monday and for us to beat Seff. Wed. on Friday.
And then for us to match or beat Utd. results until we meet at the Turf.
It's not impossible but probably improbable.
Time to throw caution to the wind and beat Wed. on Friday
and then hope Leeds can get a result against Utd. next week.
It's not impossible but probably improbable.
And then for us to beat Utd. at home.
It's not impossible but probably improbable.
That's the thought that keeps coming to mind unfortunately.

I’m assuming it to mean it’s the sort of defeat that can massively deflate a team / squad. Plenty of teams fall away at the final hurdle.

I imagine they were pretty deflated after missing two late penalties against us, but they picked themselves up pretty well. They'll be a big threat in the playoffs.

ralph8, ElectroClaret, we haven't been 0-0 in 14 games.
We've been 0-0 in 33 games and won 17 of them.

I’ve been trying to work out what I want but it doesn’t matter, Leeds will win the league. I’ve been saying this for ages. Let’s try to get 2nd.

Take each game as it comes, stop looking too far ahead, and see where it takes us, to coin a phrase.

I wouldn't be too cocksure about that they looked crestfallen conceding so late on. You might be right but they'll need picking up & regalvanising.

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Maybe if that was the last game of the season, but they've another 13 league games to play yet and the picture could be totally different then.
Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Darnhill - I admire your positivity- but to me - if we had a bit more attack minded nous combined with real urgency and tempo a lot earlier in the games- we may have had 5 wins from the 14 draws.

And the forward on our bench is also better than anyone Leeds have in their starting XI.
Maybe the secret for us is to get him off the bench ASAP?

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Sunderland appear to have the easiest run in henceforward whereas I think the Blades have the trickiest. However the Sunderland manager has yet to experience a run in and also cope with Sunderland fans massive expectations.
Second place is still all to play however Scotty has to take that handbrake off and find his most effective front 3.

Leeds are up the way they play we can still grab 2nd place but it's going to take a big change in how we play and no holding back till the end of the season, over to you Mr Parker let's see if you can let the hand brake off and go for it...

Start with Edward’s for goals. He might not last 90 mins but let’s use him !

Leeds are cropey or lucky depending on your view. Last night 5 mins added but they scored 7 mins into added. We will go up and catch and pass Sheff Utd .We do need to stop drawing with sides and SP does need to go all out attack in our remaining games.

Leeds have 3 wingers in their squad whose main aim is to go forward and attack the fullbacks we after Foster and Anthony whose first thoughts are to help out our fullbacks.

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Leeds have match winners all over the team-Piroe, Joseph, Gnonto, Solomons, James in the forward areas. In midfield Aaranson and Tanaka, at full back Bogle, and as they proved yesterday a centre half who chipped in with both goals. In comparison in 33 games our centre halves have scored two goals-O Shea who is no longer with us and ER
Re: Leeds v Sunderland
I fear our lack of goalscorers could bite us. We need to get Edwards fully fit and firing, otherwise we will miss out. Leeds have Gnonto and Piroe, Sheff Utd now have Cannon and Diaz, Sunderland have Isidor.
We have Barnes and Foster. Nothing against those two, but we are crying out for a decent number 9.
