Big Match revisited QPR v Burnley 1974/5

Post by bfcmik » Tue Feb 18, 2025 12:46 am

https://youtu.be/1uW8ReRgOTQ?si=9c27Q72nJlkOtt5CNot sure whether our goal would have happened now or that we would have ended with 11 players on the pitch. Blatant QPR penalty ignored because the ball went to a QPR player!

This game was just a week after being beaten at home in the FA Cup by Wimbledon. Remember going to watch us at Newcastle just a month or so later and a win would have put us top of the league. We put in a dreadful, timid display and were well beaten 3-0.

Keith Newton stopping David Thomas about the only way possible as he hurtled down the wing lol

An excellent side despite previous week’s loss to Wimbledon, great wing play from James and Thomas but finishing much like 2025!

Better than the next Qpr v Burnley game to be televised.

Poor old Billy O'Rourke made his debut in a 7-0 drubbing during the 79-80 season which unsurprisingly saw us drop into the third tier for the first time in our history,

I remember thinking it can't get any worse than this....how wrong I was.#

i anyone can bear watching it again.

Looks weird now seeing the Goalkeeper picking the ball up from a pass back.

I love the classic simplicity of those 70’s kits.
