Rick Buckler RIP x

Post by THEWELLERNUT70 » Tue Feb 18, 2025 8:02 pm

Well this one hurts a hell of a lot, the power and heart beat to my all-time favourites The Jam has departed for the great gig in the sky

RIP Rick Buckler x

Gutted

An unfortunate title given the circumstances but this is Rick at his very best for me

****.

I knew he had been ill but that is really sad news. Never saw The Jam but seen From the Jam dozens of times, their annual gigs at The Grand in Clitheroe were fantastic and Rick’s energy totally infectious.

Rest in Peace Rick.

Forget my earlier post. Had an absolute meltdown. From the Jam haven’t toured for a while due to Bruce Forton being ill and my brain went to jelly when I saw the news about Rick, thinking about Bruce…. Apologies.

Sad that the Jam never got back together for farewell gigs and strange how Weller ignored all contact with Buckler and Foxton for over 40 years a favourite band of my youth.
RIP Rick.

Just seen this on the thread. Gutted.

Knew he wasn’t good, hence he stopped playing with From the Jam but he had still been spotted around the scene. Supporting charity events. My good friend Buddy Ascott (the Chords, Polydor stablemates with The Jam) was very fond of Rick and regularly related his meetings with him both in their heydays and recent times.

I remember buying Time UK’s singles purely on the strength that Rick was on drums.

RIP

RIP Rick Buckler , one third of one of ny favourite ever bands and half of that fantastic rhythm section along with the soon-to-be-retiring Bruce Foxton.
Agree that Funeral Pyre is a track that really showcases his drumming. Here’s another….possibly my favourite Jam track.

Very very sad. A fantastic drummer in a brilliant band. Saw them many times, a couple of times at King George’s Hall.

RIP Rick.

Agreed with the OP this one hurts more than most, phenomenal drummer and one third of quite possibly the most important band of my lifetime. Never got to see The Jam but bought everything I could find on vinyl, bizarrely I did once see Rick playing drums for a Psychobilly band ( The Highlanders) around 1990.

RIP Rick and thanks for being pivotal in my musical upbringing.

very sad news indeed, highly talented musician, and was a huge part of a seminal band from a era that produced some music that stood the test of time.

Rip Rick
Used to listen my sisters records while playing chopsticks on the settee cushions as drums when I was a kid....never saw the original line up but as others I saw the offshoot at the Grand in Clitheroe, pogoing around with Tony Livesy at the first one I remember...a band that had a massive influence to many and Rick held the songs together

Very very sad news

Truly brilliant music that I grew up with and has stayed with me ever since. As the saying goes 'you can never change your football club' well music is the same, isn't it

Songs that you go back to and stand that the test of time, the sign of one of the all time, classic bands

British music at its very best

RIP Rick and thank you
