After the 1st very poor 20 minutes we gradually have grown in to the game. Edwards is miles above anything we have. A cracking little player

I was so excited when we signed Edwards and couldn’t believe we actually got him! So happy he’s proving what a great player he is.

Re: SUPER CLARETS vs THE OWLS - Match Thread
the tone was set at the start when Cullen could easily have turned forward but instead he turned backwards, we gave away a corner and they hit the post. I can't comprehend how bad a performance we've just put in

Off the pace? Yes.
I’m sure there’s a saying that suggests the sign of a good side is when they win, even when they’re not at their best?
We have had some luck tonight, granted, but I’ll take a half time lead after a struggling performance any day of the week.

Re: SUPER CLARETS vs THE OWLS - Match Thread
Poor first half saved by some sheer brilliance. Fair play to Sheff Wed who have come and had a go and caused us problems but hopefully that goal knocks the wind out of their sails.
Regardless of the goal Parker needs to use half time to sort a few things out as we need to be better in the second half and get a grip of the game and put it to bed in the next 20 mins. Will be a big disappointment if we go into the last 15 mins defending a one goal lead

Re: SUPER CLARETS vs THE OWLS - Match Thread
The polar opposite of the PNE first half, really. Crap, over ran but a bit of individual brilliance (which we've so desperately missed this year at times) puts us ahead at the end, vs dominating the half and missing a sitter at the end!
Re: SUPER CLARETS vs THE OWLS - Match Thread
Agree, their left side are both on bookings too, the plan absolutely needs to involve isolating Edwards as much as possible.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 8:54 pmPoor first half saved by some sheer brilliance. Anthony on the left with Pires just doesn't work .

Cream always.... Well you know how it goes. Stop bl..dy complaining. We have had a bit of a bad patch tonight but still will come out on TOP.

Deffo seems to be a better relationship between Humphreys and Anthony, with Pires on a booking maybe that should be a change

Ignore it. I do. Folk who can’t form a reasoned argument turn to insults when their judgement is questioned. The bloody internet’s full of them

A really really poor half and we could easily be losing. Edwards has looked class and the difference.

I’d imagine we’ll gone on to win this… which makes the Preston result even more frustrating, as we’d by level with the Blades at worst, or in second at best.

Hate to say it but I get tense when any team attacks on Pires’s side

It takes time to build the necessary understanding. Shame Anthony had to switch sides because, generally, he's been our most creative forward.

Really glad Edwards is up and running. He is a real difference maker at this level.
I knew he was good but he’s clearly miles better than anyone else on the pitch

Apparently the lad who has just come on for Wednesday, used to be a Claret. I can’t say I know of him.
Re: SUPER CLARETS vs THE OWLS - Match Thread
Funny how you choose to highlight that from Cullen rather than his run for the goal... says it all about our fanbase, just looking for the negatives. We weren't great that half, guaranteed, but seeing as we've played well in the past and not won, and now it's fine for the majority to slate us after 1 half of football then it's a pretty sad indictment of our online fans.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 8:53 pmthe tone was set at the start when Cullen could easily have turned forward but instead he turned backwards, we gave away a corner and they hit the post. It was an excellent run from Cullen for the goal.
Re: SUPER CLARETS vs THE OWLS - Match Thread
Awful performance, no idea how we’re winning, other than to say a bit of magic from Edwards. Other than that, I’m done with Parkerball, it’s absolute garbage and has been far too often this season!
Cue other posters who will say ‘how can you moan when we’re winning’ but my comeback to that is this is standard Parker; relying on one or two individuals to bail him out. E.g. Mitrovic and Solanke.
Completely static in attack in a ridiculously rigid system that is far too easy to defend against. Fed up of it to be honest and it needs to change!

Re: SUPER CLARETS vs THE OWLS - Match Thread
I think Pires is turning into a bit of a bit of a scapegoat on here.
He recieved some hospital passes in the first half that I thought he dealt well with.
Yes he’s a bit clumsy but he’s getting next to no support from Anthony against Sheff weds best player

I wouldn't mind Brownhill's control, (albeit, usually passing backwards), to see out this game.
