Surprise surprise, silent for the rest of the thread! Call out the negative points, silent when it ends positive.
All I was saying all thread is wait for the game to end and then judge how it was, not just focus in on parts of it. We ain't gonna be the best version of ourselves every minute of every game, as many expect us to be, but that doesn't mean we can't back them when the going gets tough and we should criticise, which I feel most were doing that 1st half yet we ended up being ahead. Some perspective is all I was commenting on.

Happy to hold my hand up following a good outcome, but I do think we got away with one tonight especially until we scored the second goal. They were much the better side until we scored the second and somewhat lucky they didn’t take their chances which could, but thankfully didn’t make a difference.

I think it shows how much potential the squad has. If we’d gone a few down in the first half, I wonder if we’d seen the confidence to bury 4 afterwards though.

Either way, hopefully it’s more evidence that there are loads of goals in this squad, if only we’d take them!

He's definitely got a point. They opened us up fairly easily basically until it went to 3-0. They didn't take their chances and I'm being honest and saying Wednesday were certainly a match and for long periods the better team for periods. It didn't ever look like a 4-0 win until close to the end and it doesn't really reflect the game. Having said that, it's about sticking the ball in the net and we SHOULD have won last week, but didn't because we couldn't! Oh and we had Edwards, who is clearly a cheat code in this league!

Delighted with the result, and the second half performance, and I'm not trying to rain on the parade, but first half was awful.

The subs coming on early was a pleasant surprise. Benny scoring was icing the cake.

As was said on coms, the whole dynamics changed once we scored the second. Which is where the problem is for me. 23 clean sheets, only 9 conceded all season, 21 games unbeaten, a talented team, with loads more talent on the bench, Why do we need to get a 2 goal lead before we can start playing. The confidence should be flying, yet we play with so much fear. We should be able to go into games, home or away, and play like that second half from the first whistle.

We have definitely improved loads lately, even the PNE game we should have won if we hadn't fluffed the lines, but SP has to change something to make sure we don't drift back into old bad habits.

Apologies if I'm dampening the after game glow, but I just felt it had to be said by someone.

I think we should give Sheff Weds some credit.

All part of the ups & downs of a league campaign, which after many games this season, and previous experiences, we should know about. Yet there's so much negativity and reactivity based on a half of football. We most definitely should never have been ahead at HT, but we've said the opposite at times this season when we've been 0-0 at HT / FT when we should've won, and that includes against PNE just a few days ago. Results are what matters at this stage of the season. We've criticised this team for not producing the goods and taking chances in crucial moments, and tonight we did yet it's frowned upon by a fair few because our performance wasn't great for the majority of the game, and that's suddenly a concern and a fear. We're generally playing well and our results recently reflect that. If you can't see that then you're blind!

My question to the doubters is if we'd steamrolled Sheff Weds and not scored how would you have reacted? This team and manager really can't win, can they?

And we've kept another clean sheet, 12 in a row! Despite Armstrong's miss, which he should've taken, I think the rest of their chances missed were all down to defensive/goalkeeper influence and once again we put in a real dogged defensive display. Outstanding from the back 5, in particular!

I would have accepted it was just one of those days and we were unlucky. I've seen it many times before.
I always try and gauge the team by performance rather than results, because as well as seeing us lose to teams we've hammered, I've also seen us win games where we've been battered. That's football. Performances matter more because if you play the right way, the results will come. Nobody plays brilliant every week and loses every week.

Made a massive difference being able to bring quality off the bench & Edwards is clearly a class above too.

100% got away with the first half, they were all over us & on another day it’s 0-2 but then you have to go punish those misses and we did exactly that, that’s what the top sides do.

Squad looks very strong now, Jonjo looks like he can slot straight in as well.

Feel a bit for Lyle, added another dimension but simply cannot keep missing sitters. Didn’t matter today but he should be eating those up.

Totally agree with you. I'd guess 90+% wouldn't based on reactions on here for most of the night and this season.

I'm not entirely sure as I'm 66 years old, but I THINK it's something young 'uns do when they're playing video games and they can find stuff on line which tells them how to cheat their way past a really difficult issue. (Sounds like Edwards all over to me!)

Why don't you offer him some coaching, Trevor? :D
He is beyond help. His career goals record is dreadful.
