Hladky (4) - Time to find out if Green's any good, because I'm pretty convinced this guy isn't.
Sonne (4) - Deeply worrying. Seen nothing from him so far.
Worral (4) - Turned like milk for the second, didn't look much better for the third.
Esteve (4) - Dragged down to the level of the rest of them.
Pires (4) - I'm not looking forward to watching him for the rest of the season.
Koleosho (5) - Show him an infinite empty void and he'd still find a blind alley to run into. Had a shot at least, though.
Shelvey (3) - Can retire back to Turkey for me if this is as good as it gets. Dreadful.
Brownhill (4) - Marginally less rubbish than the rest of his teammates.
Sarmiento (4) - Entirely the wrong choice for a game against a physical side on a cabbage patch.
Benson (3) - An even worse choice for a game against a physical side on a cabbage patch.
Foster (4) - The effort's there but I'm still trying to work out what he's good at.

Subs - Thrown into what was (even so early) a lost cause and none looked like rescuing it.

Having seen us struggle against Preston's physicality on a rotten pitch a mere two weeks ago you have to ask why on Earth Parker thought a weaker, less cohesive side would do any better.

Absolutely rank from start to finish. As well as Brady hit the freekick, everyone in the stadium bar seemingly Hladky knew where he was going to put it and he wasn't ready. The defence was a running shambles giving time and space to any Preston player who got anywhere near the ball. The midfield was a sick joke with Brownhill overrun and Shelvey offering about as much on the day and his lyrical mate Tresor did. And as mentioned above, sticking Sarmiento, Benson and Koleosho in the same team was a poor joke. All topped off by a striker who just doesn't.

Utterly fuming at that today and Parker will need to hope it's not a momentum killer. Big performance and result required on Tuesday.

Hladky 4 - Need a better #2. He has been caught flat footed every game in which he's played

Sonne 3 - Looked ok against Reading, dreadful in his other appearances
Worrall 3 - Seems a top lad, consummate pro but he's champ fodder. Prob one of our highest earners as well.
Esteve 4 - Got bullied by the Neanderthal up top for them today.
Pires 4 - We've got a problem on our hands here with Bashir's injury

Shelvey 4 - Skilful, got a wonderful range of passing on him but wasn't up for the battle today. He'd be fantastic in a walking football league.
Brownhill 4 - anonymous

Sarmiento 5 - started getting into it a bit then was hooked, poor first half though
Benson 4
Koleosho 6 - if he'd have scored that chance would've done him a world of good
Foster 5 - tried but flattered to deceive

CBA with the subs

I think we and more importantly, SP has learnt a lot about his squad today...
Still some massive concerns for me with our recruitment team a taking a fair few expensive punts on random players.

Roll on Tuesday. UTC.

Who is an expensive punt?

Shelvey was free… Sonne, Pires, were peanuts. Worrall was only 5M…which is the cost of a top EFL defender…so who?

Hladky 3 we now know why he didn't go to the premier league
Sonne 3 woeful in all aspects
Worrall 3 thought of him in the premier league fills me with dread
Esteve 4
Pires 4 actually better than he usually is!
Shelvey 3 too slow, no legs
Brownhill 4
Sarmiento 3 hope I never see him in a Burnley shirt again, offers nothing as a footballer
Koleosho 6 tried hard
Benson 5
Foster 4

Flemming 3 hope it isn't an obligation he isn't good enough
Barnes 4
Laurent 4
Banel 5
Edwards 5

Parker 3 his treble substitution was utter baffling, should have been done at half time and not the three he choose to take off, didn't seem to have a clue what to do when the game wasn't going our way. Shambolic performance on all levels, no way this bunch has the fight to firstly avoid the play offs or secondly win them.

Though to be fair, Parker selecting both those and Benson on a cabbage patch of a pitch against a tough physical uncompromising side didn't do anyone any favours. This was no game for "luxury" type players, and definitely not 3!

Hladky 4 zero chance with the goals
Sonne 3- I’ve seen literally nothing from this guy ,though you get what you pay for I guess
Worrall 4- looks wooden , turning circle of a 3pc suite
Esteve 5- Got dragged down in this sh1tfest
Pires 4- he’s barely a champ player though I’ve seen him worse .
Shelvey 3- looked yards off , almost like someone’s dad having to play .
Brownhill 5- huffed and puffed to little effect.
Sarmiento 4-while he may now resemble a Romanian pickpocket , he shows none of their guile
Benson 4- almost no supply, lightweight .
Koleosho 5 lively but ultimately nothing from
2 chances
Foster 4- is he good at anything ? just screams div 1 /low champ

Laurent 4-lumpen and ineffective
Flemming 5- was at least up for it
Barnes 4- like an old dog you don’t wanna put down… hopefully his “ final walk on the beach”
Edwards 4- invisible
Banel na

Hladky 6
Pires 6
Worall 6
Esteve 6
Sonne 4
Shelvey 4
Brownhill 5
Benson 7
Koleosho 4 (had two opportunities to get us back in it at 1-0, but messed up!)
Sarmiento 4
Foster 4

Subs. Barnes 8 (best Burnley player! which says it all)
Rest 4

With hindsight the very brave starting XI was a huge mistake and never looked like working, but we have to be honest and say that's hindsight. Too many reserve/fringe players looked awful unfortunately . Sonne looked like he has been coached by (the late) Ray Deakin! The pitch didn't help as it was dreadful and the wall we (allegedly) made for the first goal was so bad a small child could have scored the free kick! What sums up that performance was that Robbie (bloody!) Brady was possibly the best player on the field and that's ridiculous!!!! Everything will be quickly forgotten IF we win on Tuesday (and next Saturday) but that's not a given after being stuffed by what was clearly a poor side!

'only 5m', I don't think he's a top EFL defender either, but appreciate we needed someone there.

Sonne, Pires, Houtondji - hard to get accurate data on how much they are but that's circa €3 mill, €2.3 mill, and €4 mill respectively, then their agent fees, wages etc etc....

Have any of them made us better? Is Lucas Pires really any better than Owen Dodgson?

We have needed a proper number 9 since the summer. For me, I'd prefer to get someone a bit more proven and fill in our requirements first than these random speculations on these types of players.

I understand that they want to try and get a ROI from developing them and selling them on, but I think we're trying to be too clever.

Hladky 3 out of his depth
Sonne 3 out of his depth
Worrall 4 a worrying performance from someone we may need at some time
Esteve 5 unsettled and bullied around d too easily
Pires 4 lightweight and guilty for the free kick
Shelvey 3 and that's generous. Nothing to offer
Brownhill 4 was he told where to play?
Sarmiento 4 ineffective and lightweight
Benson 4 kicked from minute one by Brady. Spent his time avoiding injury
Foster 4 not up to this level of football
Koleosho 4 a habit of running around and looking busy.
Subs
Barnes 3 Norwich knew what they were doing. Mr. Burnley has nothing to offer.
Laurent 3 slow and tedious
The rest I'll give 3 because the game was beyond them and they knew it.

Hladky 3 - So poor I think Ipswich actually upgraded with Muric
Sonne 3 - OMG. Would be out of depth in North East Counties league. Feel like we’ve been scammed.
Worrall 4 - Slow
Esteve 5
Pires 3 - Liability
Shelvey 3 - That Shelvey song lasted 6 minutes, which was longer than he did
Brownhill 4
Sarmiento 4 - Showed some endeavour 10 seconds before being subbed
Benson 3 - He was on the pitch?
Koleosho 4
Foster 4 - Bullied

Laurent 4
Flemming 5
Barnes 4
Edwards 4
Banel 4

Robbie Brady was better than every single player on our team, as was that racist lad for them. Got what we deserved.

Playing on a midden against a motivated physical side and we go with just about the most fragile line up we can select.

Hladky...4 Better back up needed come next season.
Sonne..4. A better male model than a right back.
Worral..4...poor..and slow..I hope that's just a lack of game time, but right now he makes the average sea lion look like Billy Whizz.
Esteve..5 Lost most if his composure after the first goal
Pires..4. Sh1te, basically...stuck with him for the duration now so hoping for a miracle.
Shelvey..5..Walking football wasnt needed today although a good few decent long balls were utterly wasted on the inept Foster.
Brownhill..6. Couldn't even begin to hold that ragtag of a midfueld together. Easier to plait jam.
Sarmiento..4 Is he the long awaited replacment for James O'Connor?...spent the game running along where the ball had just been...no impact.
Benson. 4 Why on earth did we invite this shower to kick Benson up in the air for 60 mins? Thankfully they didnt have to.
Foster. 4 Awful. Really awful.
Kolo. 5 Reminds me of Wilko Johnson's clockwork mouse routine and makes about as much progress.

Edwards....wtf did we bring this chap on for with the game as good as lost?...good job he's still in one piece.
Just glad I gave this sh1tshow a swerve.

Ah well...a decent win on tuesday and all's forgiven...anything less and there'll be justified rumblings.

Terrible selection to pick all three in the same side.

Breathtaking that someone can watch that today and think Sarmiento, Benson and Koleosho were even average. Three of the worst players on the pitch and that's saying something!

Has Sarmiento in particular had a good game for us yet?

He played quite well at Southampton. Interestingly a game on 1) a very nice pitch (allows you to play football) and 2) a bit of space. But yeah, overall I’ve not been too impressed.

That was a class free kick, the fault was tackling poorly too close to our goal.

I’d have saved it. We were right behind the goal, we all knew exactly where it was going and that Hladky was too far to his right.

Not had a drink all day. It was a good height and wasn’t bang in the corner. Stand less far to the right and he could have caught it.

I couldn’t care less if I never saw Hladky play again but that is a free kick from the top drawer. See link below. And I wish we had someone in our squad who could deliver a set piece like Brady did today on a few occasions. We don’t.

I'll look forward to seeing Sonne, Worell, Benson etc starting on Tuesday, with Edwards, Anthony, CJ, Roberts, Hannibal, cullen etc all sat on the bench
We had 6 players not starting today which would be meaning 5 of today's squad at a minimum will start Tuesday. The subs will be made up of the rest of today's squad, these players will all play during the run in at certain points.
That means we are relying on them

Not had a drink all day. It was a good height and wasn’t bang in the corner. Stand less far to the right and he could have caught it.
It was literally right in the top corner!

The random guy standing next to me said that wall is rubbish and I agreed and Brady duly took full advantage. It looked like a mistake and turned out it definitely was!

Sometimes you’ve just got to say it was a fantastic free kick! Sure there are still Chelsea fans bemoaning their keepers failure to stop his one at the turf!

Sorry, but despite what others on here say, we dropped a bollock loaning out Ekdal. He's way better than Worrell

You're talking rubbish. It's a sensational free kick which we know Brady is capable of. If Trafford was in goal nobody would have said a word.

I need to see it again, which I haven't, but the wall was bloody awful and it looked that way before the free kick was even taken. Everyone around me said exactly the same. There was acres of goal to hit.

Contrast it with our similar free kick later in the game (second half!) and how Preston set a wall!! Mmmmmmm.

You know he could also go the other side. Hladky covered the keepers side as most would and Brady took an exceptional free kick. Keepers can't just go and stand on that side, the wall is covering that.

Yes, but although we know what he can do, he still misses a shed load if the wall is correct.

But hey ho he did a job on us today

The one where we did a Mr Burns effort into the wall?
