They’ll give Villa a game, Preston a tough side on their own patch!

Re: Villa at home
They won't have an easier home game this season than the one against us.

Re: Villa at home
With a semi-final at Wembley at stake, and the Cup their only chance of honours this season, Villa will most likely play their usual first team, so PNE will need to be at their best.
Can see them getting a bit of a slap, tbh.

Maybe, but you've got to be in it, to win itElectroClaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 12:10 pmWith a semi-final at Wembley at stake, and the Cup their only chance of honours this season, Villa will most likely play their usual first team, so PNE will need to be at their best.

We forfeited, so won't be.
Re: Villa at home
Heckingbottom has made them into a tough physical team, not unlike us under Dyche.
Re: Villa at home
Villa are still in the PL and one would consider them favourites against Brugge.

If they are still in the Champions League it'll be less likely they play their usual first teamElectroClaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 12:10 pmWith a semi-final at Wembley at stake, and the Cup their only chance of honours this season, Villa will most likely play their usual first team, so PNE will need to be at their best.

Re: Villa at home
Sorry, meant "CL". They're still in the PL too.

With the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern, etc. all in the CL and only a rather erratic City of the big names left in the Cup, I'd reckon it'd be the other way round and they'd have a good chance of lifting it.clarets1978 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 2:07 pmIf they are still in the Champions League it'll be less likely they play their usual first team
They certainly won't be winning the Champions League.

Re: Villa at home
I think if they're still there, it'll take priority. The money aspect is too great. FA Cup money is peanuts compared with the Champions LeagueElectroClaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 3:38 pmWith the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern, etc. all in the CL and only a rather erratic City of the big names left in the Cup, I'd reckon it'd be the other way round and they'd have a good chance of lifting it.

Re: Villa at home
However, their recent home record is excellent.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 11:47 amWe certainly made it look that way on Saturday. There are only 3 teams in the Championship who have won less games at home this season than Preston

Re: Villa at home
Can you imagine the absolute meltdown on here if Preston beat Villa and make the semis?
Yes Saturday was an absolute shambles, like so many of you, I was also there and it left a very bitter taste. I can just imagine the tears though if Preston get Newcastle at Wembley in the semi.
