When you have to win a tackle to receive a pass it's because it wasn't a good pass123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:29 pmHow’s anyone blaming Edwards, Roberts pulled out of a simple tackle

Edwards hospital ball edge of his own box. Roberts **** out. Poor that. Poor time to concede just before half time. We’ll need a goal or 2 more against a very poor defence here and I think we’ll do it. Edwards been very poor this half imo

It was poor from Edwards.
He’s been poor generally this half and we also look more open than Parker will like down that side - same as vs Sheffield Weds.

It's a foul on Egan Riley that knocks him into their player and surprise surprise the fat **** of a ref completely misses it

Really odd display tonight by us. Looked good at times, but then noticeably dropped off after both of our goals.

Re: Cardiff City v Burnley match thread
Always felt we would concede tonight after Saturday. Conceding leads to conceding, whoever plays. Becomes a habit.
Slightly underhit pass back from Edwards but Roberts was way too slow, could have stepped onto it and cleared, but didn’t anticipate the danger, then Esteve poor for the header, ruining his big moment earlier.
How they react now is vital to our season.

Pires body position looks awkward every time he has to defend or challenge in the air, and his passing is awful for a team who wants to control games

30 passes, 93% completion rate. So only 2 to nobody. Perceptions, eh?123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:33 pmThey have got in behind Roberts 3 or 4 times and pretty much every pass Pires has one been to soft or to nobody

He did, but he only had a tackle to make because Edwards under hit the pass. Should have been a better pass and then Roberts should have stuck a foot in, both at fault for me.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:29 pmHow’s anyone blaming Edwards, Roberts pulled out of a simple tackle

Obviously I’m over selling how many passes, even the passes that are successful he doesn’t look in control of what he’s doing, Cardiff are getting die lumping the ball to Robert’s side, I’m surprised that haven’t on Pires side yetclaretspice wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:39 pm30 passes, 93% completion rate. Re: Cardiff City v Burnley match thread
Very similar type of header to the one Milwall scored at the den - sort of looping over Traff into the top corner.
Re: Cardiff City v Burnley match thread
Good half. Nice football played at times.
We definitely don't look as solid with Edwards playing, but the trade-off is that we score more goals when he's in the team.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Laurent for Edwards early in the second half, with Hannibal moving wide left and Brownhill further forwards, especially if we don't manage to extend the lead.

Re: Cardiff City v Burnley match thread
Good that Edwards nipped in to make the (under hit) pass. Many wingers would have just observed it.
I feel we were poor that half but for a few brief instances of intensity that Cardiff couldn’t cope with. Need to make that more constant after HT.

Re: Cardiff City v Burnley match thread
Bit concerning that we’ve dropped intensity both times straight after scoring. Almost as if our natural inclination is to revert to defending what we’ve got.
We got lucky the first time when they hit the post, and it gave us the wake up call to get the second, but then dropped off again.

He's had a good game. As have most of our players.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:42 pmObviously I’m over selling how many passes, even the passes that are successful he doesn’t look in control of what he’s doing, Cardiff are getting die lumping the ball to Robert’s side, I’m surprised that haven’t on Pires side yet
He's played forwards effectively, starting in the first minute when Anthony should have done better than shoot straight at the keeper, and his prompting down the left has repeatedly brought Hannibal on to create overloads. No coincidence we've looked more a threat on the left than right tonight.
We've looked a good team and the game should be over.

Steve got beat for one that hit the post and the same for the goal. Usually our talisman. He scored and I’m sure he is kicking himself harder for the goal. Move on he is amazing for us.

It's a remarkable testament to the adaptability of mankind how quickly people have become so unacclimatised to Burnley conceding.

He is, but should do better with the pass for me still, just pass it wider and away from the Cardiff man. Agree Roberts should have just nailed him though once he was slow to react.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:43 pmEdwards is under pressure from a Cardiff player to, Roberts should still be absolutely nailing the ball up field

I think Pires has given one pass away. Why do people think he's had a bad game? Did we concede because of him? No. Have we largely attacked down the left hand side of which he is a part of. Yes.
What's the problem?

I like the tactics from Parker, knowing Edwards sucks the defenders to his side out of blind panic, so he then overloads with Hannibal on the other side, which Cardiff have struggled with in all that space.
