From Tele.

Traff-6. Not a lot to do really and couldn't do anything with the goal. Sometimes I can't help but feel he puts us under unnecessary pressure when holding possession.
Roberts-6 thought he was average but probably the worst out the back four
Egan Riley-7 pick of the back
Estéve-7 (plus one for goal) maybe his worst game for us, looked like he got a little bit bullied at times.
Pires-6 average. Nothing special but nothing wrong.
Cullen-6. As above average.
Brownhill-6 As above average.
Hannibal-6 As above average
Edwards-6 showed glimpses but gave it away often and not involved enough.
Anthony- 6 dosnt look as effective off the left but the play still goes through him
Flemming- 6 just not involved enough at all.

From tv (Cardiff coms far better than clarets plus btw)

Trafford 7- couldn’t really do much for the goal

Roberts 6- shaky
Esteve 7 (plus one for the goal)
Cj - 7 good long range passing did ok against a big striker
Pires 4- not a league 1 left back let alone championship

Cullen-6 game bypassed him
Brownhill 7(plus one for goal)
Hannibal 7* (our best player taken off too soon again.
Anthony 5
Edwards 5
Flemming 5 (plus one for the assist)

Subs -all 4 didn’t affect the game in any way shape or form

Great 3 points mind. I’ll take it but worrying second half.

Not sure what happened towards the end when we retreated but we’d done more than enough to put the game to bed before that.

Couldn’t find our players 80% of the time. Caught out at the back post with their chance in the last 2 mins. He’s not a good defender. It’s just how it is sometimes.

Good with sloppy intervals for an hour in which the game should have been put to bed, and then decidedly scrappy for 30 minutes

Trafford - 6 - not much to do.

Roberts- 6 - a little casual and sloppy at times, including for the Cardiff goal.

Pires - 7 - effective in the first half and steady without being spectacular in the second half.

Egan Riley - 7 - defended well enough and used the ball well for the most part although he too got sloppy as the game wore on.

Esteve- 6 - struggled a little with their centre forward, more than we've come to expect.

Cullen - 8 - ran the game in the first half and kept his head in the second when others were losing theirs.

Brownhill- 8 - good to have him back. Good goal and got through a tonne of work.

Hannibal - 8 - outstanding in the first half last when his forward runs were a feature. Quieter in the second half.

Edwards - 5 - came alive for 10 minutes in the second half when he should have scored and had a penalty, but otherwise quiet.

Anthony - 7 - lovely ball in for the second goal and influential in the first half although he may feel he might have done more with some good first half opportunities.

Flemming - 6 - neat assist but should have buried an earlier chance and otherwise he didn't carry much of a threat.

Much of the first half interplay showcased exactly what Parker wants us to be and it was only our own careless moments that threatened to undermine us. The second half was similar for 15 minutes in which we had a couple of excellent chances and should have had two penalties, but Cardiff were emboldened by their good fortune at being in touch, we got scrappy and it all became a bit of a messbin the final stages.

A win is a win though, 71 points from 35 games is a fine return and we've put ourselves bang in the equation.

Turns out it's then opposite, he found our players 80% of the time.

He's a scapegoat and no mistake.

Why do we need a scapegoat...we won
He just had a poor game and is a poor footballer.
Did you see the simple pass in the first half at the half way line that ended up out for a throw in to Cardiff further towards our goal ok Roberts side?
Put us under unnecessary pressure too often

Laurent - 4
Sarmiento - 4
Foster - 4

Most of our outfield were heading for 7's and 8's during the first half but the longer the game went on, the more withdrawn most became. Cardiff had us running around like chickens at times until the players did their 5 minute cameo of a top 3 team. Every time we moved the ball properly Cardiffvwere chasing shadows.

The blatant penalty miss by the Referee and that redundant lump they call an Assistant, may have set us up for a goal fest.

Onwards and Upwards though, 3 points is what counts!

From the tele. Credit Cardiff, individually they've got some talented players.
Trafford 7 Couldn't do anything about their goal.
Roberts 4 Set the tone with silly early needles fouls
Pires 5 Often the scapegoat, often played into trouble and doesn't have the quality to get himself out of it.
Esteve 6 got bullied by their big striker, not his finest game but delighted he got off the mark.
CJ 4 Other than the odd decent pass, got bullied and similar performance to start of the season. Shakey.
Hannibal 6 Drives us forward, puts the opposition under pressure.
Cullen 8* Everything good came through him, the heartbeat of the side.
Brownhill 5 Goal aside he was poor,
Edwards 5 Talented but had opportunities to kill the game off, which nothing came off for him.
Anthony 5 Gets a lot of the ball but overall his end product is frustrating.
Fleming 4 looks miles off the pace as the moment, long season catching up with him, missed a sitter.
Laurent 4 Looks a 500k player at times, today was one of those occasions.
Sarmiento 6 Worked bloody hard.
Foster 6 Fed off scraps.
Worrall 5 Won a couple of headers to see the game out.

Brownhill 7 really well taken goal.
Hannibal 7
Anthony 6

Flemming 6

Sarmiento 5

Laurent 5

Played so good football that first half.
Lost our way, in the second. We often seem to struggle, these days, regaining the initiative when we lose it.
Another good three away points though.

Roberts- 6

Edwards- 6
Flemming- 6

Sarmiento- 6

Delighted with the win, obviously, but we don’t half make it hard for ourselves. Not helped by an incompetent ref.

But again, more concern if it was needed that when we are disrupted and lose momentum in a game, we have no idea how to win it back.

We also revert our mentality and look to defend what we have far too easily. This needs to change.

JT - 7 Did well and can't really fault their goal
Roberts - 5 Very sloppy
CJ - 7 Did his job well
Esteve - 7 Same as CJ
Pires - 5 Really poor first half but recovered later on a bit

Edwards - 6 Looked like a man who didn't want to be in Cardiff on a Tuesday night
Cullen - 7 Tried to dictate but not as effective tonight, although likely we would be overrun without him
Hannibal - 7 Confused why he came off
Brownhill - 7 Good finish but not his best game
Anthony - 6 Decent but faded in the second half

Flemming - 6 Good assist, but missed a glaring opportunity

Laurent - 5 No real positive effect on the game
Foster - 4 I think we just need to use Barnes off the bench now. His confidence is so low he won't even shoot.

I hate criticising our own players but Pires looks way out of his depth to me. I'm willing him to improve but it doesn't seem to be happening.

Roberts 5 poor for the goal and off it defensively most of the night
CJ 6
Esteve 7
Pires 7 odd sloppy pass first half, but didnt shirk a nasty blow to his foot, tried to support and a number of incisive passes between the lines
Cullen 8 makes us tick
Brownhill 7
Edwards 5 poor for the goal and bar the little spell in the second half i thought he was very very quiet
Anthony 6 (good first half sloppy and out of it second half)

Mr pedantic tonight eh. From my point of view he gave the ball away a lot. Forward passes especially. Defensively he’s weak too. But I’ll not mention in future so not to upset Goliath

My God there are some ridiculously negative comments on this thread. Thought we played very well for an hour then started to sit deeper and deeper as they brought on more forwards and fresh legs. Thats just how it goes I think though…. People seem to forget there is an opposition team desperately trying to affect the game and salvage a result.

Laurent 5 one really poor and nearly costly back pass
Foster 4 zero confidence when in scoring position
Sarmiento 5 just don’t see what he offers

The last 20 mins were very poor. The game should have been put to bed when we were on top but poor finishing and and we then rode our luck a bit. Awful referee decisions too.

Trafford - 6 - not too much to do but the booking is avoidable

Roberts - 5 - needs to be better for the goal
Esteve - 6 yes he scored but for once he looked uncomfortable at the back
CJER - 6
Pires - 6

Cullen - 7
Hannibal - 7

Brownhill - 6 - another goal and thank God for that
Edwards - 6 - got double-teamed a lot but clearly is a threat
Anthony - 6

Flemming - 5 - got an assist but not too much else

Laurent - 5
Foster - 4 - you can only have so much patience with a striker on 10s of 000s weekly who's scored in 1 in 21

It's a win. That's the main thing. But lots of questions still.
Leeds put 7 past these and you can see why. They've hit the woodwork twice against us in a 1 goal game.
The last 25 mins I don't know what the gameplan was.

We create chances but no-one puts them away. But........it's a win.

Mr pedantic tonight eh. From my point of view he gave the ball away a lot. Forward passes especially. Defensively he’s weak too. But I’ll not mention in future so not to upset Goliath
So as suspected you were talking nonsense and instead of fessing up your just acting like a bit of a prat

Trafford 7
Roberts 5 - unusually poor tonight from Connor.
Egan-Riley 6
Esteve 6 - Think we've found out what Steve's kryptonite is, a big lump up top.
Pires 5
Cullen 7
Brownhill 7
Hannibal 6
Anthony 6
Edwards 6
Flemming 5 - plus one for the header across goal to Steve. He needs to start burying the chances that he gets. It's just not good enough for what we need from our forward players, especially if we want to play in the PL where you get one a game if you're lucky.

Trafford 6
Roberts 4 thought he had a really poor night, usually much more reliable.
Esteve 5 uncharacteristically shaky
CJ 6 better than Esteve tonight
Pires 5 better than Roberts but a low bar
Cullen 8 MOM
Hannibal 7 excellent first half
Brownhill 7 scrapped throughout and a good finish
Anthony 5 quiet
Edwards 6 should’ve had a penalty
Flemming 6 some great lay offs and a brilliant assist for Esteve, should have scored with his own header though.

A good win tonight, important, don’t think we were at our best second half but we hung in there.

Trafford 7 Steady performance
Roberts 6 Ok but thought he would be more up for it against Cardiff.
CJ 7 Steady performance
Esteve 6 a second game where he’ s not been quite “on it” (by his high standards). Only temporary I’m sure….
Pires 5 Not as bad as some make out but my heart skipped a beat when he let Fish run off him near the end.
Cullen 8* Metronome, again
Brownhill 7 Good goal and performance from Josh
Hannibal 7 plenty of energy and end product
Edwards 6 Quiet first half, much better 2nd and should have been awarded aa penalty.
Anthony 6 Not quite as effective on the right but still ok. First touch was superb as always.
Flemming 6 Plus 1 for the assist but really needs to do more.

Foster 6 Decent but messed up the easy pass on the breakaway near the end
Laurent 5 Nothing special, but helped the close-down in the last 20 minutes
