Harvey Elliot
Liverpool are prepared to loan him out .Imo we should be straight in for him as part of our Premier league team for next season.
Re: Harvey Elliot
He's not going to relegation fodder.
A mid table team will be perfect for him - the likes of Fulham, Palace and Bournemouth.

With serious strengthing we are going to not be relegation fodder.Alan Pace is shrewd enough to realise spending last time was pitiful and he will address this .

Re: Harvey Elliot
Hasn’t done Ipswich much good.
Re: Harvey Elliot
Spending wasn’t pitiful last time, far from it, just the type of player we targeted.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 8:11 amWith serious strengthing we are going to not be relegation fodder.Alan Pace is shrewd enough to realise spending last time was pitiful and he will address this .

Re: Harvey Elliot
The new players have got to want to come to a club who will be odds on for relegation the minute we are promoted.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 8:11 amWith serious strengthing we are going to not be relegation fodder.Alan Pace is shrewd enough to realise spending last time was pitiful and he will address this .
Re: Harvey Elliot
Could see Michael Keane coming in if we go up. Would be a good start. I'd be in for Harry Winks as well if Leicester go down.
We'd have to be a lot smarter with the money and those 2 would probably come in without spending a great deal.

Re: Harvey Elliot
Question would be our wage cap. That would be a crucial factor.
Re: Harvey Elliot
By the sounds of it, first priority in the summer is a new GK. We still haven't got a proper #9 or anyone who looks remotely comfortable there. Anthony is only a loan, we're horribly weak in cover with full backs, CJ hasn't signed a deal.....
And that's before we look at brining in the like of Elliot and Winks in the middle.

Re: Harvey Elliot
That's exacerbated by our being a bookies' favourite for relegation; players will want a higher wage in the expectation of it being a one season gig and/or either a low release clause or guarantee that wages don't drop with relegation

Thought Delap was £20m?
They’ve got an absolute steal if he was nearer £15m!

Re: Harvey Elliot
I don’t disagree that he’ll likely have better options than us IF we go up, but the flip side with established premier league clubs is that they don’t need to loan players. I wouldn’t be happy loaning players in their position - displacing someone perm, limiting their progress while paying wages on someone who’ll only be with you one season, then having your perm players to get back up to speed when they’re gone.
It’s all a bit shortsighted when established clubs can afford to focus on buying, playing and developing their own.
Relegation fodder, which I hope we are as it’ll mean we’ve been promoted, don’t really have that luxury.

Re: Harvey Elliot
Shrewd enough to spend far too much on too many players who weren’t what we needed. Unfortunately I think Kompany’s lot are still in charge of recruitment.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 8:11 amWith serious strengthing we are going to not be relegation fodder.Alan Pace is shrewd enough to realise spending last time was pitiful and he will address this .

Negativity is a very bad idea.We must aim high and not dwell on failing before we start.Re keeper if Traff goes we will find a replacement
Palmer at Ipswich looks a fair bet

Will Salah be available too?

Another reason why he wouldn't.

Re: Harvey Elliot
He's a former Fulham Academy player isn't he? I could see him going there if anywhere. Definitely not dropping down a division though.

Not a chance in hell 'Kompany's lot' sign Joe Worrall and Josh Laurent.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 11:36 amShrewd enough to spend far too much on too many players who weren’t what we needed. Unfortunately I think Kompany’s lot are still in charge of recruitment.

Let's all sit and think really hard about what it means when someone signs up to the messageboard and immediately starts being nasty to people they're suddenly very familiar with.

Quite the outburst there William. However I'm not sure that's quite right, Parker has said numerous times he's wanted Laurent going back to his Bournemouth days so it sounds like he had more than a hand in that signing.williamw1331 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 1:44 pmTheir scouting did. So what have you got to say for yourself? Will you admit you know nothing about the game and be quiet for 6 months?
The Worral one also signalled a complete change of approach in recruitment so again it seems unlikely that the recruitment team that signed Al Dakhil, Ekdal etc and many other young centre backs who were good in possession suddenly changed approach completely and went for Worrall.
I think the most likely answer is that there is a mixed approach with input from numerous parties including the management side, the chairman's side (which possibly led to Barnes re-signing) and the recruitment side.

You are very anti-burnley. Nobody can live life being that negative. I don't know how you do it.Goliath wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 2:49 pmQuite the outburst there William. Re: Harvey Elliot
You would hope Parker has the final say on signings regardless of what division we find ourselves in but in all honesty I'm not convinced Ashley coming back was his idea.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 11:36 amShrewd enough to spend far too much on too many players who weren’t what we needed. It's a bit odd that you seem to track my posts so closely. I've no idea who you are really so I probably shouldn't bother responding but just to avoid any confusion, none of what you said is even close to being true.williamw1331 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 2:54 pmYou are very anti-burnley. Can you do us all a favour? Before you post. Think. Think, "Could this be construed as negative?" - if yes don't post. Post less and make your posts better. And please do not post on the match threads as you completely ruin them.
Re: Harvey Elliot
If Liverpool loan out Elliot, that tells me either Salah has signed a new contract, or Ben Doak is rated highly for the left wing slot.

Re: Harvey Elliot
Didn't need to be, we all know the nucleus of the team was there, just needed some money spending on the likes of Maatsen (reluctant at first but then was willing) and Tella plus a couple more and we had the beginnings of a premier league project with a future.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 8:11 amWith serious strengthing we are going to not be relegation fodder.Alan Pace is shrewd enough to realise spending last time was pitiful and he will address this .
