That’s entertainment!
Best game of the season so far.
Pires, Anthony have been brilliant.

Criminal how we can have so many corners and do absolutely nothing with them.

Re: The SUPER CLARETS vs The Baggies - Match Thread
Responded well after going behind.
WBA are decent and pose a real threat on the counter.
CJ and Esteve need to remain switched on at all times.
We could as easily lose this game as well as win it.

Decent half and some good performances. WBA aren't a bad side and defend very well. He's been the difference a lot already, but Edwards needs a bit of a kick at HT, doesn't look on it.

Excellent game.
Are you allowed to take the free-kick further back?
Lot of lads playing well;
Pires
CJER as per
Maxime as per
Hannibal well involved
Flemming's having a good game
Edwards too quiet.
This one is going to be tough to win.

3 possible reasonsKernowHouseClaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 8:08 pmWhy the hell has he allowed to take it from there when the foul was inside the D
1. The ref doesn't care about the rules
2. The ref doesn't know the rules
3. The ref wasn't paying any attention to the position of the ball
All 3 could be true
All 3 are indefensible
It's embarrassing from this referee yet again

Re: The SUPER CLARETS vs The Baggies - Match Thread
No. The free kick must be taken from the place the infringement occurred. It cannot be moved forwards, sideways or backwards.
As I understand the rules, the ref should have booked Swift after he moved the ball, and made him retake it

Provided its not taken nearer to the goal it does not matter how far they go back.KernowHouseClaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 8:08 pmWhy the hell has he allowed to take it from there when the foul was inside the D, if it was even a foul!!
Also, why wasn't the push in the back of Edwards given?

Stick or twist? I think we’re looking good, although I’m not sure where a goal is coming from.

Bristol City doing really well at Sheffield... so far.
Re: The SUPER CLARETS vs The Baggies - Match Thread
I would consider Benson for Edwards in the next 15 mins.
Re: The SUPER CLARETS vs The Baggies - Match Thread
Is this correct. It was a fabulous free kick and I don't want to distract from it but can you move it back or not, I thought you could but happy to be corrected.Roosterbooster wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 8:39 pmNo. The free kick must be taken from the place the infringement occurred. It's amazing others teams don't do it then, that might be because they can't. A direct free kick must be taken from where the infringement occurredlancastrian wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 8:41 pmProvided its not taken nearer to the goal it does not matter how far they go back.

Surely then we could walk the wall forward so it's always 10yds from the ball?lancastrian wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 8:41 pmProvided its not taken nearer to the goal it does not matter how far they go back.

Law 13:lancastrian wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 8:41 pmProvided its not taken nearer to the goal it does not matter how far they go back.
All free kicks are taken from the place where the offence occurred, except:
-indirect free kicks to the attacking team for an offence inside the opponents’ goal area are taken from the nearest point on the goal area line which runs parallel to the goal line
-free kicks to the defending team in their goal area may be taken from anywhere in that area
-free kicks for offences involving a player entering, re-entering or leaving the field of play without permission are taken from the position of the ball when play was stopped. However, if a player commits an offence off the field of play, play is restarted with a free kick taken on the boundary line nearest to where the offence occurred; for direct free kick offences a penalty kick is awarded if this is within the offender’s penalty area
-where the Law designates another position (see Laws 3, 11, 12)
Laws 3, 11 and 12 aren't relevant here
