Noticed 4 way traffic control lights being set up near the roundabout connecting Eastern Ave/Casterton Ave/Briercliffe Road this afternoon.

They weren't operational when I went past about 2.30 so not sure when they'll actually come into play but sure it will be fun when they do unless they're only working overnight :-(

❌ *M65 OVERNIGHT CLOSURE* ❌
WHEN: 10pm till 5am From TONIGHT until 14th March

WHERE: Junctions 10 to 14

Allow extra time if you are travelling

This is to allow Lancashire County Council to repair the potholes and carriageway

Didn't look closed when we came home either, certainly nothing blocking the entrance from junction 10

As I was driving eastbound after the match, the only vehicles on the westbound carriageway were 2 highway maintenance vehicles.
So it looks like they shut that side first starting at the Colne end.

Frigging nightmare getting away from Turf tonight

Obviously people had heard the M65 was going to be shut so we’re using Colne Rd or Queen Vic Rd to head to Nelson/Colne so would be frustrating if the M65 wasn’t actually shut

Maybe the council showed some common sense for once and kept it open for the football traffic to disperse.

It’s not common sense if they think about it whilst everyone is at the football and don’t announce it

I'm sure they filled in some potholes Westbound last night. I haven't driven Eastbound yet.

Just a heads up, those 4 way lights I mentioned earlier are now in operation and its causing bloody traffic chaos!

All the roads around that area are gridlocked not helped by temp traffic lights on Colne Road just past the Prairie near The Oaks hotel.

Had to pick Mrs VC up from BGH at 4 this afternoon then grandson from Wavelengths in Nelson, took me 1 hour 15 mins from Briercliffe!

Do you know what the roadworks are for? There's no mentioned on the LCC site, or indeed the utilities sites either.

They’ve set the lights up now they will plan the days butty run, make a brew and sit back and watch the chaos. That’s between the hours of 9.30am -3pm when they are actually on site.

I went down Eastern Avenue at 5:45pm, thinking it was shift change at BooHoo making it worse. Came back at 7:15pm and it wasnt much better. Guess it'll be terrible this morning, if still in place

8 weeks? Yikes! :-(

Walked past the roundabout about 45 mins ago- traffic fairly busy and obviously will get worse once the school runs start and folk finish work.

Not much sign of activity just one works van but they have dug a big trench in the pavement on Briercliffe Rd on the corner where the post office used to be.

The temporary lights in Brierfield, next to the demolished petrol station, on the A682 mainline route are causing issues

I'm always surprised there isn't more anger at the amount of roadworks with nobody working on them appearing.

I guess it gives the likes of Farage and Co more time to blame the traffic congestion on immigrants and over population though.

They were advertising Casterton Ave all the way down to Belvedere Rd they were doing "major gas works" April 28th till 6th of May. So looking at alternatives travelling in for the Millwall match 🙄
