We might be unbeaten, which looks good on paper but the boring draws have cost us greatly,
I’ve been a supporter all my life and I’m finding it hard to watch the way we play, even late in the game Trafford is slowing down the game when we are at 1-1 as though he’s running the clock down
Frustrating!!!!
Do you attend games?

Doesn’t matter the fact still remains we did well against 10 men.
Good. Better than doing badly against ten men.

I agree.
Last night would have cost me £37. I'm not a season ticket holder now as I work weekends so I actually like the midweek matches, but the last midweek match cost £22 for the same seat. The Leeds match cost £44.
Ii missed last night on principle. If every match cost £30, I would not hesitate.
It is more than just Burnley though it's football in general they are trying to milk fans for every penny they can. I wanted to go Coventry but have opted against at those prices not because I can't afford it but because of the principal of how much it'd cost to take my family. I could take them sandcastles or the pleasure beach for cheaper and they'd be guaranteed fun for a day.

Under VK in the last 10 there would be wave after wave of pressure that led to a lot of late goals. A lot of the time its wave after wave of probing around the back under Parker. Created next to nothing 2nd half.
If you think we spent the last 10 minutes probing around the back last night, then you simply didn't watch the game.

Exactly, so it shouldn't be such a great hardship for you. You basically are deciding whether to switch a TV/computer on or not.

It's probably the other way round, those in better jobs can prioritise their work around going to football. Those of you who are dictated to when they work struggle for evening games
I think you need to read what you’ve just written again. Very carefully and very slowly if necessary and you might just spot the glaring error.

As I said, easy to spot the dole dossers, for a couple of reasons now actually.

I think there is too much being made of the “poor atmosphere” … it’s pretty much same as it ever was in the all-seater era and it’s also pretty much the same at every other ground. In the last 16 years we’ve seen 4 promotions to the PL so inevitably there isn’t the same level of excitement as for the first time.
Newcastleclaret has made the point higher up this thread about midweek games being available on TV . I’m actually surprised that so many of us do go on given the option of sitting indoors in warmth watching the game and saving the ticket price too if you’re a walk-on.

It’s not entirely down to tv people have to work and travel which probably knocks a few thousand off the gate not everyone lives 5 minutes from turf moor

Absolute drivel, I'll hazard a guess he's been to plenty of games to have an understanding of what an atmosphere sounds like or what entertaining football looks like. Are you suggesting anyone who cannot attend games isn't allowed an opinion ? Getting up at 4:30am to watch us isn't much fun but I never miss a game, I've been to hundreds of games all over the country watching us but my opinion isn't valid ?

As you might deduce from my username I do know that . Used to miss most midweek games myself but now live locally again so can get to them . You’re right …. But the TV thing must also have impact. As I say , I think our crowds are very decent in the circs and I’m regularly impressed by the size of midweek away followings, including last night’s.

What did we do in the last 10 minutes yesterday to seriously threaten the WBA goal?

We had no shots on target and only 7 touches in their box all second half.

It doesn’t mean there’s no attacking intent or desire to win, or we were just plodding the ball around the back for the craic. We just were not good enough, on the night, to manufacture chances against a WBA side who have also done the exact same to each of our rivals.

From where I was sitting it looked like there wasn't enough attacking intent or desire to win.

Too passive, not enough risked for the reward.

Oh I'm sorry, I thought this was a thread about the atmosphere at grounds, or more specifically at Turf Moor.

I don't see how it affects or bothers you, living there in the desert heat, watching on a TV screen.

We ran out of steam at the end of the game, and we weren't great during injury time (not helped with the stoppages and the ref's poor handling on the game) but for the last quarter we were absolutely probing and got in behind out wide several times - just let ourselves down with the final ball.

There's posters on here that are making out like the back three were playing triangles with 20 minutes to go, which is just nonsense.

Went on last night for first time in a couple of years. Sat in the 100club and personally thought the atmosphere was alright. Not sure what the expectations of some are. Does it sound different on TV? Does it depend on where you are sat in the ground? Does the lighting in the ground in the ground have an impact? From where we were sat in BL the rest of the ground looks really dark and I find the bright lights off putting. Probably my age and eyes. Is it the strength of the floodlights to accommodate the HD coverage?

Anyway, reasonable atmosphere, WBA on back of away draws at Leeds and Millwall it was always going to be a tough game. Mowbray ain’t daft and knows how to set up for an away at this level of football. If you look at the table, WBA are 5th, it was a 3rd v 5th game. WBA need points to secure a play off, was never going to be an easy game.

yeah you aren't thinking it through mate, think about causal effect the atmosphere has on everything and you'll get the point. Laughable you think that because someone can't go to games they aren't valid or affected by any of it.

Read this thread and others like it and you'll find that there are contrasting views with regards to the atmosphere. Some thinks it's fine and some think it's like a morgue. Some like the gimmicks the club come up with to improve it, some don't. I have my own opinions which I've expressed on here many times.

I wouldn't be commenting on the atmosphere though, if I wasn't attending games. Just as I've never commented on the atmosphere of a game I didn't go to. I'm not qualified to.

Are we allowed to comment on goals we see at games we don't attend ? Can you provide a list of what is acceptable for non attendees please.

Also, that's rhetorical.

Tbf coolclaret I’ve not really seen any poster suggest we were just passing it round the back with 20 minutes to go.

I think most posters are in agreement that we didn’t show enough desire to win. There was no formation change, no change of tactics, just probing around 30-40 yards from the opposition goal for the majority of the second half.

I really expected to see balls launched into the box and throwing 3-4 players forward. I was really disappointed because that was an amazing opportunity for us to get above Sheffield and we just didn’t show the desire to win.

Or west brom didn't show the desire to lose. They are no duck eggs & have their own ambitions with cementing a play off spot last night was never going to be a easy game by any stretch.

You have just highlighted my exact point.

West Brom set up to draw that game and in the last 20 mins there game plan was very clear to get that result.

We didn’t change anything or attempt anything different to get the result. So as others have said we didn’t show the ambition to get the win.

Who's winning headers with balls launched into the box against 3 centre halves then?

We did mix up the shape & roles - and yes, there are posters suggesting that we were cocking about with it at the back at the end of the game.

Match them up go 3 up top against the back three.

I mean try anything to get the result.

I think it’s quite fair to say that there wasn’t enough intent to get the win. If you believe otherwise fair enough

2 strikers were needed to be on against those 3 solid centre backs to stretch them. We’d have got Edwards and Anthony into the game more, then bring benson on. The subs and tactics second half baffled me

Match them up go 3 up top against the back three.

I mean try anything to get the result.

I think it’s quite fair to say that there wasn’t enough intent to get the win. If you believe otherwise fair enough
Which three are you putting on up top then?

Or two strikers?

No matter what Parker does/doesn't do, it will never be good enough for some who have got the knives out after every draw/loss since his appointment.

Flemming and foster flemming playing his actual role as a number 10 with foster further up . Just give the defence something to think about. We had nobody getting in the box second half

The atmosphere is RUINED by the same moronic chant.

We are the Longside, BURNLEY…

We have nothing new or remotely funny to gee up the young uns.

Much like this board, the oldies are choking the life out of the fun.

You should generate your own atmosphere & not be reliant on others to do for you. It's a midweek night match making allowances that some folk have been up since silly o clock worked all day & more or less wolfed tea down got changed & straight back out again. Some folk are simply tired that's the top & bottom & would love the magic energy beans some seem to have in abundance.

It doesn’t really matter what I say as it’s not my job to get us a win.

I’ve been an advocate of Parker since he joined but I think in the same way I was critical of VK last season for being to stubborn to change his defensive tactics, I think it’s very fair to be critical of Parker’s stubbornness to change his attacking tactics.

Regardless of your opinion on Parker can you honestly say you felt we did everything in our power to get the win last night?

Not sure Parker that sees Flemming as a 10 in his system, I don't think he has the dribbling ability that he'd like.

I could be wrong; it's just my hunch. Think we may have gone back in for Flemming late in the window when other targets weren't available.

Other than that, Foster pulled up- could have gotten on the end of Pires' cross for a tap in if he was at 100%.

You asked for three players to match their three centre halves.

Flemming was subbed, Foster went off (precautionary) and we had Ash Barnes on - who else do you think should've accompanied him?

Like I said it doesn’t matter what I say because you will just tear it to shreds.

But there’s all sorts he could have done tactically. They were all like for like subs. Foster replaced Flemming, Barnes replaced Foster.

He could have subbed Laurent on, pushed Brownhill right up the pitch to almost act as another striker. He could have left Flemming on the pitch and played Brownhill Flemming just behind Foster.

There’s a million permutations that he could have opted for.

Back to the question that you avoided. Regardless of the manager do you honestly feel they did everything in there power to try get a win?

Strangely whenever I've had mates who support another teams come on the turf with me they love that chant and see it as one of those that can build up and just keep going, the sad part is most the ground doesn't join in and chant it.

Pace mentions it twice in the short 12 minute clip on the latest keeping the faith on YouTube.
Yep saw that. Didn’t the fan(s) say we’d like to see a goal, and AP chuckled………on a slightly separate note I was also surprised that the Baggies didn’t sell out……….our Coventry away relatively slow to sell ( TV, lunchtime and price)…………. Maybe AP and others need to look at the overall, product they dish up rather than effectively going to the customer and telling them they should cheer the team on come whatever.

Unless you can turn the clock back 30 years and leave the Longside standing or make a better job of the ground redevelopment then the atmosphere isn`t coming back unfortunately. Everything about the modern match day experience is aimed at creating a wacky warehouse, family fun day type of atmosphere. Can you imagine all that rubbish at Fratton Park or the Den?
