What a crap full back. Turns his body shape to defend inside, when he has cover there, and lets Campbell walk past him on the outside.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
Low quality match. Should be down to 10. Under the cosh. Score from a raggy deflection on a cross.
Pretty much sums up how it's going for Sheff Utd at the moment.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
They scored early though. Chance for a Weds equaliser now in the 93rd minute it being a derby and all that?
Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
Sheff Wed are dreadful I’m afraid. I’ll be shocked if they can take something now with the lack of quality they have.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
As I posted in the first 30 minutes, Wednesday don’t look good enough.
This useless ref Kitchen doesn’t help - has let United away with so much including a potential red.
I’d take 1-1, snatch hands off for it.
But we may have to do this ourselves.

Could only watch about 20 mins of that match. Absolutely woeful.
Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
Bugger.
Difference in quality told.
Smith really doesn't look good enough to play in the Championship and yet has scored eight goals.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
The more I watch Blades I think they are an average side with a good keeper. Seen them second best so often but pinch the 1-0. A great attribute to have but more annoying when we’ve had so many 0-0s.

Wednesday are a poor side, missed their biggest chance and United took theirs. Ref should have sent BBD off as well, but they got lucky with that decision.

Only consolation is that the Sheff U full back who got booked late on was on 9 yellows so I think he misses next 2 games

Still wondering if Leeds and their usual implosion is our more likely escape route...
Though Wembley is still the favourite.

No more or less frustrating than it will have been for their fans expecting us to face a difficult game at Ewood.
League is stuffed with crap teams, we've just got to do our own bit.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
I think Sheff Utd have won 7 of their last 9 with the two games they didnt win being a draw with Bristol City and a defeat against Leeds. Think they have Coventry next and the 4 games before our match is on paper all easy games they should be winning.
With the run of fixtures Burnley have I'd bite your hand off to being just 2pts behind Sheff Utd going in to our game with them

We're 2pts behind Sheff Utd and Leeds so even if we win all our games we could still end up3rd if they both win all their games as wellClive 1960 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 3:00 pmwin all our games and we are promoted and nothing nobody can do about it. UTC

If we win all our games, we will go up as we play the the blades.
Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
Quite incredible that we could win 7 and draw 1 (Sheff Utd) in our last 8 games, finishing on 100 points and only losing 2 games all season, and still not go up

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
I said something similar at the start of the season when I worked out we could win 42 of our 46 games, drawing one and losing one against both Leeds and Sheff Utd, finish with 128pts, and still not going up

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
I think we've got the toughest run in by far, but I keep expecting the Blades fortune to run out, hopefully at a disastrous time for them.
I've watched them a lot recently and they've been so lucky to win arguably 3/4 of their last victories. A good trait to have maybe, winning when playing badly, but I'm clinging onto it can't keep happening and their luck will run out..

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
Not sure it always work that way re toughest fixture at this time of the season. Teams at bottom sometimes grab their last chance and pick up results . Those at bottom have started to pick up results in last week or so

We have to remember that they'll be wishing we would finally lose a game of football and bugger off. On the bright side, Leeds have been dragged back into reach.

The best thing about it is the after match interview with Wilder. The guy has completely lost it based on the pre match comments from Rohl. He has no class at all and is completely riled up even after winning. With him in charge we have absolutely nothing to fear and will finish in the top 2.

I agree with your other remarks but I think we have the best run-in. Not the easiest maybe, but the best.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 4:47 pmI think we've got the toughest run in by far, but I keep expecting the Blades fortune to run out, hopefully at a disastrous time for them.

When all sides are winning every week it suits us to have a rival at home. Especially one with a poor recent record at the Turf. That is a really bad fixture for Sheffield, win it, they deserve to go up, lose it, they could be in trouble.
I also like having Bristol and Coventry. Win those, which I expect us to do, it lays a real marker and can be psychologically powerful. I’d rather havr those two now rather than in late April.
Leeds have Middlesbrough and Luton away, two sides desperate for wins. So I’m content with our run-in.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
Funny that at Christmas there was a thread on here claiming we had the easiest second half to the season. Seemed odd at the time seeing that everyone had to play everyone once.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 4:47 pmI think we've got the toughest run in by far, but I keep expecting the Blades fortune to run out, hopefully at a disastrous time for them.

Only thing that bothers me is out of the top few we’ve drawn against Boro ,Bastards ,Leeds and Sunderland and now we’ve Bristol City ,Blades and Coventry .need to turn those into wins.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield Utd Match Thread
The only thing we can safely say of the run in is that all three teams will drop points.
At this stage last season, Leicester had 85 points and took 12 from their final 8 games to end on 97, Leeds had 82 points and took more to end on 90, and Ipswich had 81 and took 15 more to end on 96.
In short, whilst the top sides were out performing this season at the same stage last season, still none of them hit 2 points a game down the straight. If we can do so this season my guess is we will be up. 16 points gives us 94 points and history suggests one of the other two will have a wobble.
