Up the Clarets - ten years event
In 10 months time, Up the Clarets will be ten years old and a potential event has been discussed.
Any thoughts as to the kind of event and what would encourage you to attend?

Cheeses-10 years bl***y hell. Is it that long ago?
Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
Personally better to have it when the nights are longer, around April 2026 would be my suggestion on timing.

I’d love to attend, it was great in the Clarets Mad days being able to put faces to names. Sadly too many of those faces are no longer with us.

Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
We used to do that at the old CM dinners. We would have Dobbo’s wife wearing a badge with Mrs Dobbo on, Vince Overson’s wife with Mrs Big Vince and, in case anyone didnt know who he was, Jimmy McIlroy had a badge with Jimmy Mac on.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 4:06 pmWould everyone wear names badges with their names on or their forum name ? could make an interesting event .

Hard to believe it's 10 years ( nearly)since we moved house.

Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
Mindblowing that it's 10 years !
A dinner at the Turf would be good, jdrobbo can be the security to keep the rabble in order.

Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
I bet Dobbo and Vince would come to a dinner.
Alison Overson loved it and I bumped into Dobbo at Old Trafford cricket ground a couple of years ago and he was saying how much he enjoyed all things Burnley.
And you buy one you get one free!

Sounds like the kind of thing Mr Pace might get involved with. If anyone on here is friends with him on Facebook you should message him about it

If we do have an event CT should get presented with a gold medal.

Some may have that many aliases that they won’t be recognisable under all those name badges.

Now that I know at least two of you personally, I would feel less awkward about attending
Maybe an evening after a home game on a Saturday (although, that will give precious few options these days!).

My, how time flies.
I don't post much. But visit several times a day to see what's new.
Brilliant work CT and all involved in running this fantastic forum over this time.

Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
I’m surprised it’s only ten, then again I think I missed the later ones. A divorce, four moves, a Degree and Masters Degree, and a ‘new’ relationship now entering its eleventh year…. Yet it seems like recent history that SatanicMustard ( as was) got stuck in the back of my SAAB when we dropped him off afterwards

Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
I’d think the best thing to do would be to have a meet up in a pub immediately after a Saturday home game . Would need to find a pub that would close for a private function…not sure how easy that would be.
