Bitter or what?blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 7:56 pmHe’s absolutely slated VK. Saying about 24 points and 127 million spent and still ended up at Bayern.
Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
It may not have been pretty at times, but Dyche fought tooth and nail to keep us in the PL for 6 years at the detriment of his own career.
VK thought he was bigger than the club and was more interested in showcasing his ‘philosophy’ to the football world.

Loved what he did for us. He was incredible and the best Manager in my life time. BUT, when he first joined us he was polite, respectful and hungry. Now, he’s become so arrogant and I just dislike how he interrupts people when they are speaking, it’s just rude.
But, again, a brilliant Manager who was woefully let down when he should and deserved to be backed.
Good luck to him on Talkshite.

The irony of people who want to play “Peps way” isn’t lost on me.
Sick of people slagging off us last season and the three relegated teams this season (likely the three who went up) for not switching it up and only playing one way.

Just a bit unnecessary really.
This is the problem when you appear on stuff like Talksport - they’re just looking for sound bites.

Hope this was a one off.
Can’t imagine being publicly critical of other managers and boardroom decisions is going to enhance his chances of finding future employment with a stable or progressive football club.

There's an element of truth to this. I was also told similar by someone within our club before he left which I took with a grain of salt.Bowclaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 9:16 pmLoved what he did for us. Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
Love Sean Dyche, but there’s no need for him to go down the route of trying to mock Vincent Kompany. It reeks of sour grapes.
Kompany was superb for us in his first season, mostly dreadful the next, but he’s also doing a pretty good job at Bayern Munich this season.
It’s also fair to say that Kompany’s managerial career is on an upwards trajectory, whilst Dyche’s is the opposite.

Does seem a bit salty from old dychey. No need to have a go at vk. Although what he says has some truths I think he was more ****** off at the fact vk got to spend 127 million.

Dyche is correct about Kompany.

Bayern win the title pretty much every season apart from the odd blip.
Many teams in that division wouldn't survive in the Prem so it hardly makes VK a genius

Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
I heard the clip, it's said in a very jokey manner. I'm sure he respects kompany, but it's just a fact that getting relegated spending that amount of money, getting 24 points, only to get one of Europe's top jobs, is nuts. Whether they spoke German or not, that's never happening to an English manager.
I say that as someone who backed kompany till the end, but he got very, very lucky.

Reckon I'd have a chance of winning the league with Bayern tbf, it's not the yardstick.
Dyche is rightfully a legend, we were right to change at the time, but will always have love for him.
Those who say he's arrogant have clearly never met him. Nice bloke

Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
I’m not sure what really backing Dyche after finishing 7th would have achieved. More years in the PL? Perhaps. But that’s no guarantee.
What we wanted and what hurt at the time is not qualifying for Europe proper. We all know the history of Dyche and his favourites, same starting 11’s, not being overly arsed of cup matches.
So the thought he’d be backed in that summer, we qualify for europe, play Thursday/Sunday, with different 11’s is very far fetched. We’d have ended up in a mess.

Dyche with 127 million to spend in a summer, it would have Been really interesting to see what he’d have done with it… the defour signing was arguably out of the blue and the best player out of all the signings he made but on the flip side cheaper signings like JBG nick pope and Tom Heaton were the ones who made our team. I just think he feels a bit hard done to and maybe he should.

Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
I will always massively respect Dyche for the miraculous job he did for us but this makes it all the grimmer to hear him hawking himself around on TalkSport like a low-rent Harry Redknapp, playing the gruff-voiced, no-nonsense, old-school “character” manager. In those first few years with us he came across as someone ahead of his time in his thinking with talk of sports-science and articles in management magazines about his approach. Nowadays he’s starting to look a bit like a Mike Bassett stereotype and isn’t as funny as he seems to think he is. Needs to be careful.

Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
Personally think Dyche is embarrassing himself with comments like that.
Not sure of the exact figures but was the club not significantly in debt when he left the club too ? And yes I do realise that the point is here is that the debt is down to the owners and not the manager…..but that’s the case with both managers.
Loved Dyche and he’s by far the most successful manager in my lifetime but in the last couple of decades at least I think we have been quite blessed to have a number of really good managers. And what happens with pretty much all managers in the history of football is that at some point things start to go wrong and they eventually leave. Some fans like to focus on the bit that went wrong - but most fans can appreciate the good periods.
The irony is that from the outset Dyche used to very clearly say that at some point he will leave and that the fans will be critical of him. He used to cover this in his presentations at the training ground when it first opened and said it was inevitable.
Dyche has always had a chip on his shoulder about not getting the type of managerial jobs he thinks he deserves. Whilst I think there may be a little truth in this it’s also a fact that for the last decade at what is a relatively young age he’s been a manager in a big job earning for the most part an unbelievably good wage. He deserves that for his success. He will I’m sure get another job - whether it’s at the level he thinks he deserves is another matter. Funny that other managers who used to carry similar chips on their shoulder were Allardyce, Warnock, Pardew etc. Dyche is like these old guys but he’s still young and will probably end up earning more than them 3 put together !!

Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
About him not getting another “bigger” job. The timing didn’t help him one bit. It was PG first Man City title. Most points, most wins, most goals, most consecutive wins, biggest goal difference, biggest points margin to 2nd etc etc. The tip tappy stuff was starting to hit full gear at the time. Had Dyche got us to 7th last season, it’ll be a totally different now.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 10:59 amPersonally think Dyche is embarrassing himself with comments like that.

Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
There are plenty of teams who did not follow the PG model of playing. I do agree that Dyche’s style and reputation does restrict his opportunities but he got the Everton job and there have been lots of other jobs available too.Dyched wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 11:39 amAbout him not getting another “bigger” job. Dyche benefited from the fact that he is in the biggest league in the world money wise by getting big contracts that he quite rightly earned and deserved. But the problem is that because the league is like this then most of the worlds best managers also want to manage in this country so again this by definition is going to restrict his opportunities. Clubs can like Palace and Brighton have gone for young managers recently who may even be on a lower salary than Dyche was at Burnley and Everton. And you then look at a club like Everton who did go for someone like Dyche and you see that one of their recent managers is up there with one of the most successful managers in the world in the last 10 years. That’s the kind of thing he is up against.
All that said I think he will still get at least one more chance at another Premier League club or to get a relegated club back up. Would not be surprised to see him at Leicester in the summer for example.

It’s cool saying “VK spent this and Dyche spent this” but it’s not that simple, the wage bill under Dyche was touching £100m which meant there was always going to be less funds available. Dyche favoured older players on bigger wages.

I'm not going to jump on the 'let's stick the boot in VK' bandwaggon because that Championship winning season is the stuff that dreams are made of, and to win it at their shithole was the icing on the cake. That night will stay with me to my last.

Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
People talk about Dyche like he was a failure at Everton. Kept them up the first half a season. Kept them up again last year with all the deductions. Fair enough Moyes has come in and picked up some wins, but he's had a lot of critics over the years and was down right awful at Sunderland. A bad run of form as a manager doesn't make you a bad manager.
I do he's missed his chance of a good job though. He'll always now be brought in as a firefighter. A club like Leicester would be great for him, but as we all know P&SR rules mean any promoted cub operates with one hand tied behind their back. In that situation, he's always likely to regress to the basics which have served him so well and are now frowned upon by so many.

Not sure this is true. The issue for clubs that become established in the PL is that all the contracts at the club become PL contracts over a period of time and even players who played in the Championship become PL valued players.KRBFC wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:54 pmHis best signings were the cheap ones and his worst signings were the expensive ones.

Had we stayed in the PL the wage bill would have eventually reached £100 million simply because your playing squad becomes full of established PL players.
Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
That's why there's a glass ceiling for clubs like ours. It's possible to really out perform and compete with the big boys for 1 season but with that most of the players demand transfers or higher wages. We will probably see Bournemouth decline in the next few seasons as well for example just as we did.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 4:42 pmNot sure this is true. Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
Dyche was obviously amazing for us, but I think he got stuck in a loop of finding a solution to take on better teams and get results, but without expanding on this style of play. Every time the going got tough, we regressed into the rigid framework just to survive. To be fair this was his main job, but it did get tiring to watch after a few seasons.
I'm disappointed in how his career has panned out. Remember when he first came and was in his first full season, he kept mentioning he'd been to Germany and studied the way the top teams played there, "pressing is the new passing" was his mantra. This gave us a solid but exciting team to watch who played on the front foot.
We played some great stuff in 17/18 which got us to 7th, and signing Defour was a hope that with a sprinkling of better quality, mixed with his "framework" and we could've been set for 10 years as a mid table team with quality, who occasionally dabbled with Europe. Sadly this wasn't to be, and he seemed to have regressed into his rigid comfort zone at Everton.
Still feel like a massive "what if" moment if we'd have signed players like Ziyech and Robertson when we were in the top half rather than Garlick limiting the budget.

Dyche was immense and a club legend who could arguably have a statue built at turf.
That being said i enjoyed Kompanys promotion season more than any season under Dyche

It’s not true because firstly it never reached £100m a season and secondly the highest figure it did reach was I am pretty sure for an extended accounting period as the club changed its year end.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 4:42 pmNot sure this is true. But you are right about the nature of the team and the type of long established contracts we were paying. It’s not that hard to work out how much we were going to save as soon as Tarks, Mee, McNeil, Cornet, Wood, Pope, Collins, Westwood and Dyche himself leave.
And even at its peak the wage bill under Dyche was still at the bottom end of the league - as it always was.

Yes but one of Dyches promotions was not expected and my mates and I put a bet on at Christmas that they would be promoted and that they would be champions.claretcarrot93 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 4:59 pmDyche was immense and a club legend who could arguably have a statue built at turf.

He lacked a bit of class Dyche doing this.
He seemed really hyper.
The bit he talks about his qualifications and educational course costing £30k. He’s been on £3m a year for years. He was very well looked after at Burnley.

Re: Sean Dyche on Talksport today, 12-2
Dyche and Burnley was very much a marriage of convenience, particularly under the last ownership.
Genuinely surprised he got another Prem job if I’m honest. He did exceptionally well for us, but rightly or wrongly he’s associated with a certain brand of football which fans don’t want to see these days.
I don’t think we’ll see another sustained run of Prem football like Dyche gave us, not to mention Europe!
Fascinated to see where he ends up next.
