Yeah. I'm sure Suarez meant it as a term of endearment.

Exactly.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 8:44 pmOsmajic was walking directly to camera when he spoke. Any half decent lip-reader could translate accurately.
Suarez didn't admit to this, it was a story Liverpool invented in the aftermath because it wasn't as bad as the truth. He admitted he'd directly abused Evra for being black.
If it had been a court of law then the verdict could only have been 'not guilty'. "Not proven" is a halfway house verdict only used in Scotland, it allows for a 'double jeopardy' recharge for the same offence should further evidence become available at a later date.JarrowClaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 8:37 pmNo he wasn’t the result was not proven as there wasn’t enough evidence to prove him guilty or innocent. I don’t think what he said was ever doubted it was the context that it was meant in that was questioned.
Then every sleaze would be at it, hiding behind your cover of “it’s not 100% so I’m innocent”. Just say it close enough to a player with hand over mouth and you’d know you’d get off.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 10:16 pmWe'll never know for certain regarding jay & bong & this incident regarding hannibal. The concept of deciding things on the balance of probability doesn't sit comfortably with me because I like things to be decided on a 100% basis not he said this & he said that. If you have irrefutable evidence show it & charge him.
Or completely avoiding spurious allegations it depends on ones perspective.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 1:45 amThen every sleaze would be at it, hiding behind your cover of “it’s not 100% so I’m innocent”. Well thought, Einstein.
There isn't a language in the world where holding your nose then wafting your hand in a smelly motion means anything racist, he said his breath smelt but even if he was saying Bong smelt it isn't racist, clear as day. He made it up
1 persons interpretation of racism shouldn't be a blanket barometer in deciding guilt.
If you think calling somebody's breath smelly is racist then your part of the issue in why the world has gone as it hasJakubclaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 6:38 am1 persons interpretation of racism shouldn't be a blanket barometer in deciding guilt.
You don’t know that he made it up though, you’re just making an assumption. So if you booed Bong for reporting Jay you’re as stupid as the Preston fans who would boo Hannibal. It’s really that simple.
Look at my previous posts when it happened I said then I don't see how the FA can charge Osmajic unless they have video proof none of us have seen because it cannot be proven. I think he did say something but I'm not sure how it can be proven and him being labelled a racist and banned just off one person's word unfortunately. I don't see the comparison with Jay though as he clearly doesn't say anything racist whether he's saying Bong is smelly or his breath smelt, none of these are racists. I wasn't one who booed Bong but I can't see why people did.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 7:53 amI'm agreeing with the point you made I don't think jay is racist (can't be 100%) the same applies to the Preston fella.
I've watched the video back this morning you can still get clips up on YouTube, nothing racist at all is gestured or said. I didn't boo Bong but I can see why fans did he lied.
One of the earliest insults I heard towards the Asian community when I was growing up, was that they all smelt.
You could argue that PNE have little chance against Villa and that it is less significant than the league games.
Jays case was about context not what he said Bong felt he was saying he smelt because he was a foreigner where Jay said it was his breath he was saying stink! The comparison is simply in fan reaction we are reacting exactly the same as the Brighton fans did: sections of our support will call Osmaric racist even though he has only been charged by the FA nothing has been proven yet, even if it comes back he wasn’t guilty some sections of our support will still call him racist as per Brighton and Jay. Preston are acting exactly the same as we and West Brom did with Jay calling the reporter a liar and will no doubt boo him whenever he goes to play there exactly as we have done with Bong.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 8:51 amNot sure I fully get the Jay/Osmajic comparisons. If I am trying to be objective (which is difficult as we all wear Claret tinted glasses), it always seemed likely that Jay never said anything racist or at the very least, never intended any sort of racial insult.
Osmajic on the other hand, claiming that he said 'bad man' is almost laughable. I know we all love a s*** house if they play for your team, but if he is found guilty, it will be very interesting to see the PNE fans reaction to him. As someone said above, any normal job and you get sacked for that.
We might be similar ages.
That particular racist trope has even been used by a prominent poster on here.Middle-agedClaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 2:17 pmWe might be similar ages.
I too remember generic, casual racism towards Asian people, because “ they all smelt of curry”
It was fairly mainstream. My memory isn’t what it was, but aim sure there was an episode of “Budgie” in which the Iain Cuthbertson character, Charlie Endell, was involved in smuggling illegal Asian immigrants. The Budgie character (Adam Faith) was looking after a group of them. His reaction when meeting them was along the lines of “ Phew, they all smell of curry “.
I can see why accusing a person of colour of being smelly would have racist undertones.
But, as ever, this is my opinion, which I seem to share with Row x. I have no empirical data to prove it.
A bit like the Osmajic allegations at present.
UTC.
I know all this. Minds were already made up straightaway & I don't think that fixation could have been stopped even with contrary evidence. The way things are going we seem to be on a slippery slope with thinking things & not knowing for sure. I'm all for stamping racism out whenever & wherever possible but also believe that people might not be racist even though people think that they are. I work on facts.bumba wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 8:28 amLook at my previous posts when it happened I said then I don't see how the FA can charge Osmajic unless they have video proof none of us have seen because it cannot be proven. On what grounds is it being extended?
Heckingbottom is a bell end. His “ he said, she said” comment after the original “ alleged “ racist comment in the original game, just about summed him up. Tool.northeastclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 6:51 pmHeckingbottom said it would add some spice to the match again, the FA obviously must have agreed with him.
Grade-A plonker. Mediocre footballer, sub par manager, and comes across as thick and unpleasant too. Surely he’s due another stint at Leeds soon?Claretitus wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 11:00 pmHeckingbottom is a bell end. This. He even looks like the child catcher in the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 2:06 pmFeckinbottom has always been the same. His whole mode of operation is based on sharp practice. Or cheating, if you prefer.

Preston got an extension to April 2nd, saying the Biter was injured and seeing a specialist ... yet he has played every game since I believe ...
