Steven Defour Manchester Marathon

Post by hetheclaret » Fri Mar 28, 2025 12:45 pm

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I couldn't find anything on it - Steven is running the Manchester marathon in April, for a children's charity called Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Best player in my lifetime as a Burnley fan (2000 onwards) and an all-round legend.

What a good chap. Also the best Burnley player I've seen.

Fair play to him, always came across well. Is he still coaching / getting his badges?

It's a subjective one, personally I don't agree on with best player in last 25 years though. He was injured far to often to ever fully be consistent Burnley legend (not his own fault mind). Will never forget that FK against Utd on Boxing Day or the FA Cup game where he lobbed the keeper.

Glimpses of absolute brilliance when he did turn it on though. Similar to Benson in regard that he was a genuine game changer for us.

He didn’t have a marathon in him when he played for us! Must be fitter now than when he was a Claret

Technically the best player I’ve seen at Burnley in my lifetime . Shame about the injuries but we wouldn’t have seen him in claret and blue if not for the injuries he had before us.

Pity we have to put up with the usual comments.

I hope he raises as much money as possible. Fair play to you, Steven.

Very good player, but half a season doesn't make you a legend.

And this sort of comment is why I'm done with this forum, thank you.

Blimey …. I mean that’s a bit of a flounce really isn’t it ? See a lot of ridiculous posts on here amongst all the cut and thrust and don’t think that one even makes the top 50 per cent in terms of daftness.

What?

I mean talented player and all that but was he a legend? Legend in terms of Dobson, Fletcher, Peyton, Little McIlroy etc etc etc? and also that's why you are done with this forum. That's a strange one!
