I feel sorry for the little set piece goblin. He must have trotted out to the end of the technical area over a hundred times now for nothing.

I’ve stopped getting excited for them. I genuinely don’t know how we can be so bad - especially with a full time “coach”

I think he also directs defensive corners/set pieces....perhaps that's where his expertise lies

He can take a free kick.

Nowhere near a striker.

Anyway, back to the corners?

He’s got to be doing something valuable we don’t see for Parker to keep him on. It’s definitely not corners though

We never scored off corners. Might as well just give them a goal kick instead. I miss the front post flick on with Billy Hamilton scoring with a bullet header 😢

Fairly sure the last direct corner we scored off was Luton away, scored by Dara O’Shea. That’s a lot of corners ago!!

Yes it was. It helps that O’Shea was good at attacking them. Great movement in the box.

The one where Anthony went short to Edwards who practically fell over and the ball went back to Roberts on halfway was the best.

We really don’t use Esteve to our advantage at corners. We need to do what Arsenal and Newcastle have done, get our players grouped and hold off the defenders at the back post for Esteve to come steaming in behind them.

Tbf we haven't. We have spells of being really dangerous and spells where we're absolutely woeful. Currently we really are beyond woeful. What it takes to be dangerous is a combination of one or two excellent corner takers with a couple of defenders who know how to win a header and find the net. Westwood for example was excellent at taking corners and in recent seasons we've had the likes of Mee, Tarks, Keane and O'Shea who all knew how to finish them off. Brilliant players that they are CJER and Esteve might as well stay in our own half at corners because they're never in a million years going to be dangerous at one. As mentioned, that could also be down to the utterly crap delivery.

Is it just me that finds some of the abuse that our set piece coach gets distasteful? After all, he’s part of a team sitting 3rd in the table and 26 undefeated.
